Hasbro's version of Galvatron will do (I prefer that color more) but I'm hoping that 3rd party has the sense to be already working on a new head with crown attached as well as a better arm cannon or port that can place it on the side of his arm instead of always being on top like that. Other than those skinny thighs which I guess can't be changed, I think the figure is alright.

It was already shown that his head can turn with the crown.

Ah, guess I missed that. Where/when was it shown? Was it BotCon or somewhere else?

It's mistransformed. That long assembly sticking outward from his back can be folded down 90 degrees. The tip of it will be visible between his legs from the front, though. At any rate, you can most certainly change the angle of his dangle.

I was referring more to that long black piece. And just because G1 had it doesnt mean Hasbro cant improve over it. I thought they didnt want to feel chained to G1 (their words). And in any case, this isnt G1 Galvatron, its their new take on him.

Doesn't matter what pose they put this figure in dramatic poses on toys and proper trnasformations doesn't make my decision for me it how figure looks I don't like how figure looks I don't buy it it's ok in not mode ship mode not liking canon mode is ok

Anywho I think this might be one of the few times I consider buying both Takara and Hasbro's take on the mold despite being the exact same character and toy - Hasbro's represents what imo should be Galvatron's colour scheme, while Takara's is... a bit more reminiscent of Marvel's Galvatron II. Who is the craziest most insane fucker out there and I love him for it

I don't know....he looks very G1 inspired to me, backpack included...

Not that I don't already have several Galvatrons. It's still nice to see Galvy at this size class done officially. When I have more room I really have to make a Galvatron display. Maybe Galvatron VS Hot Rod....

Galvatron II is pretty much just Galvatron in G1 toy colors, which this is not. He'd need gray, not light purple, as his main torso color to fit that version. To me it looks like Takara is still going for toon colors, just a different interpretation of how dark he should be (since the animation wasn't always consistant).

So he was a headmaster in G1 then?
Just messing, your right Scotty and Agamemnon, he looks pretty darn good and spot on. And for the record my main cause for concern was that weird antenna.

There are rarely times when I'm glad I only have a shallow understanding of Japanese culture, but I think this might be one of them.
And I don't want it explained.

I can at least trust if they make Brainstorm without a faceplate I won't want it. That's just not right to me

Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how things play out with Brainstorm. He did have a mouth in the "Headmasters" cartoon, but he's more iconic to me with the mouthplate. I think the decoes between Hasbro and Takara will play a big part in which face type I choose, though if it does end up that Takara has a vastly superior deco (odds are in favor of this, honestly) sporting his full face, I'll have to go that route. At least with IDW in recent years we've seen Brainstorm a few times with his mouthplate removed, revealing his mouth underneath. So, there IS precedence for the mouthplate-less look in some western G1 media.
Posted by Sabrblade on May 3rd, 2016 @ 12:13pm CDT
I could see Takara giving Brainstorm a new mouthed head for two reasons: 1) show-accuracy to The Headmasters cartoon, and 2) Japan already got a mouthplated Brainstorm with the Voyager mold, so a mouthed version of the Deluxe mold would be something different for that market.Wolfman Jake wrote:Kurona wrote:Huh, I didn't realize this guy had a different head with a mouth. Takara's Skullcruncher also has a different head.

It's a shame that Voyager Brainstorm's head isn't really compatible with these new Headmaster toys.

Well, yeah, but... just the idea of him not having a faceplate period. Sort of how I feel about Optimus; having an actual face for him is good because it allows us to see more expression and emotion, but he really should have a mouthplate. Especially on the toy.

Takara Skullcruncher all the way. The headmaster face is 100% better plus they painted the croc teeth. Nice touch.

Also... starting to not like the Takara Hardhead as much. I was thinking of it at first because mouth, but the colours are waaaaaay too saturated; they need to be a bit darker than they are to fit.
