I'm not sure I'd get it over Hexatron (as Hexatron is one of the best engineered transforming toys there is) but for what it is and the pricepoint he's at, it's impressive. The submarine mode is kinda clever, and he looks pretty spot on for G1 Sixshot. I like the name of the Headmaster too. A real shame they aren't properly painting the Headmasters though, that sculpting is begging for pigment.

So yeah, not for me but I can certainly dig him.

So base mode is just his tank mode. Perfect for me! He didn't need a forced base mode.

And he looks so awesome. I really can't wait to get him. I'm super stoked

I'm sure his hips/knees are a lot less needlessly fiddly than Hexatron's are.
and if you want some of Hexatron's swords you can get a KO with the same sword pretty cheap. (Not to mention they seem to include some iteration of a Drift sword with many of the Maketoys releases anyway).

Besides the Leaders usually get reduced pretty quick so when they is a chunk of the price knocked off he's a pretty good deal. he's certainly a darn site better value for money than CW Armada Megatron is.

He looks absolutely gooooooorgeous. After reading early IDW I've been starting to enjoy his character too... it's gonna be difficult passing him up especially at sale prices.

Yeah, I getcha. I just prefer how Hexatron looks, and his improved articulation. Just personal preference is all, not because I'm going "herp derp HasTak sucks 3P is always right". I also don't mind fiddly figures (I'm used to Figma) so there's that.

Actually, you know what would be cool? Titan Master Quintessons. You could have a Judge with 5 Headmaster figures that could be removed from the central hub and "take over" any TR figure.

On Cerebros? Yeah, it is. I think you might be posting in the wrong thread though since we're talking about Sixshot, whose titan master is Revolver Ocelot.

And Revolver is based on Jack, one of Chromedome's old friends from The Headmasters cartoon, whom Sixshot captured, tortured, and planted a bomb inside his body for a suicide mission (with some assisting hypnosis from Mindwipe).

Who knows what Japan might do. But whatever they do, I bet it's gonna be awkward since it'll either result in Sixshot scaling down to look like a guy he murdered, or a resurrected Jack getting a Transtector that looks like the guy who killed him.

Or a means for Sixshot to make amends for his bad guy days by homaging the 'bot he stuck a bomb on.

Despite its flaws, HM really did make both Chromedome and Sixshot appear more than mere cookie cutter characters.

And this mold needs to get a Greatshot version too. :x :x :x

Does anyone know of a fix for a loose Titan Master knee joint? When I plug in Highbrow's head and hold him horizontal looking up, the back of the head will fall down due to gravity. There's no friction at all.

What's worse is that the only way to stop the hypnotized Jack from completing his mission was for Chromedome to have to shoot him before the bomb could go off and blow up its target (the bomb eventually went off anyway after Jack was shot, just sooner than it would have had Chromedome not shot him, which prevented the bomb from destroying its target).

Titan Master molds are generally tied to (parts of) their larger partner. Meaning not only retools will have the same one (just with a different face), but also molds that share parts, like Blurr and Chromedome sharing the Stylor mold.

Revolver is indeed based on the Headmaster anime character Jack as explained before. Quite ironic, don't you think?

Jack looks a lot like one of many those Takara/Bandai/Popy robots of the 1980's specifically the one that worked like a russian nesting doll - which I forget the name of at the moment. But there were several that had that sort of T-1000 Motorcycle cop look to them from that time.

Gordian from Toshi Gordian. He was later retooled, eliminating the smallest figure, into Baikanfu for Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos. :)

There are several Titan Masters, mostly of Voyager Class that take inspiration from some left field sources:

Daburu: White Leo/Pirate Lion from Battle Beasts
Diac: pilot figure from Diaclone

At least Daburu has some fiction homage. The only episode of the Headmasters anime to feature the monsterbots was the episode with the battle beasts and White Leo in.

It seems someone at Hasbro, not just has a sick sense of humour, but is a fan of the Headmasters series.

I don't know if they could get away with references to things they don't own the rights to, but Titan Masters sculpted to look like, say, Asuka or Rei from Evangelion, or the Zentradi pilot suits from Macross would be pretty cool. Eva references would probably be OK as Anno and co are pretty liberal about the license/references to it in other media, and Takara have done Eva themed products before, but Macross would probably be off limits, as Harmony Gold are notoriously anal about the license- to the point even the creators of Macross hate them.

That would explain Overlord. Though he got the wrong Godmaster (Mega instead of Giga)

If Brave/Yuusha homages are possible (Sunrise/Bandai may throw a wrench into that), there's another possible retool:

I dunno, proportionally the TR figure looks a bit wonky. Classics Hot Rod is IMO the best Hot Rod figure from a purely aesthetic perspective- even the MP has some funky proportions.

The best Hot Rod figure full stop is of course Cybertron Excellion. :-P

Eh. I think the original looks far superior. You can see his spoiler in robot mode, alt mode looks solid instead of an oversized legends (i'm sorry, but it does to me) and superior wheels. And head. And proportions. The new one looks like he skipped leg day and bulked his torso way too much.

But that's just me.

I have to agree with you. I never liked the look of the classics one, his head looks too small, the chest is too fat and the arms just look wrong. The TR one is so much sleeker

If you're trying to say that Classics Rodimus looks a little dated next to his Titans Returns counterpart, then we agree. The term "better" is subjective though, as I much prefer the classics version (I do have the Protector armour for him!) over this newer interation

I'd say they both suffer from ginormous shoulders that only serve to obscure the spoiler from view, with the Classics one only suffering this much less than the TR version, while the TR one has nicer legs than the Classics version.

Tis what happens when the guy's most iconic design A) looks more like a costumed human than a robot that turns into a car, and B) was designed for animation before it was adapted into toy form (unlike the 1984-1985 cast being toy designs before animation models).

The original MP Rodimus looks pretty accurate to Hotrod in both modes - it just is unfortunate that you need to attack it with a screw driver to replace the knees and the like that have a tendency to explode on you.

I'd actually be super happy with a downscale of the Original MP (with some slight fixes) much more so than the newer one - the newer one is OK however I'm just not a fan of how his chest looks.

The Titans Returns One looks like the sort of toy that might shine more in another colour scheme. It's a bit bright at the moment.

I don't dislike the Classics Mould despite it's quirks - but I can't disagree that it's looking a bit dated now - but that is true of many of the 2000's designs. Some still hold up like Galxy Force BackGuird (Cybertron Defense Scattershot) some don't ; Like Cybertron Red Alert.

I still remain fond of some toys from that era though even if they lack the odd swivel or stand a bit funny.

Re sixshot, can't wait, he looks awesome and he was always one of those that I recall wanting but never saw in the shops as a kid, did end up with quickswitch tho.

Re hot rod, I was perfectly content with the generations edition, not too sure bou the new TR one. Thing is, like many g1 characters he differed greatly in proportions and at times general aesthetic across the media. The generations toy reminds me of the g1 box art version, TR reminds me of the g1 universe bio rendition, MP reminds me of the movie edition. MP hot rod is very very good, my main gripe is the chrome that's already fading off, and the arm hinges used to transform him feel very delicate.

Worst edition I own is the recent CW legends reprint of black jack. Got him purposely to decorate metroplex, but damn he's an awful little figure!

Why ?

Is your's especially floppy or do you not like that the wing does not store on his back ?

I like him a lot both the original and the KO Oversize version both.

I've been wanting to pick up the Rodimus retool of Blackjack - I like having a small Legends collection, I mostly have Legends 'cons, IDW Rodimus is my favourite character in the franchise and it's really cool how this ends up harkening back to the Rodimus Micromaster - so I have been wondering if it's actually any good.

Why ?

If I may, the only reason I got that Rodimus was because I bought the entire Optimus Maximus team together from an ebay seller for a great price. I keep him in alt mode because his robot mode just doesn't look like Rodimus. I don't feel Rodimus when I look at him in robot mode, which is why I don't like him that much.

Frogbat may have a completely different reason, but mine is the robot mode doesn't say Rodimus

Just got TR Soundwave. Very impressed. For some reason, his size compared to other CHUG figures doesn't bother me like it did with the CW Seekers and Megatron.
