While I love the idea of a TF MMO, y'all can call me super skeptical after the debacle that was TF Universe Online.

So is this an actual new game, or just Kablam localizing/translating the Tencent game? Also, real MMO or just another MOBA?

Another mobile game? Glad I got Bluestacks, my phone can't support all this on top of Pokémon Go and Miitomo...
Though, as an IDW fan.
Iconic Autobots and Decepticons from the “More than Meets the Eye” Franchise

This wording got me very hopeful. I kinda doubt it'll be specific to that certain comic though.

Why do i have a feeling its just going to be a re-skin of something they've done already or a generic tap tap action game, oh and dont forget micro transactions gotta have them popping up every 5 seconds.

It's not every day you find a job listing that asks that you have "Knowledge of the Transformers IP", but there is one up now for the role of an Online Community Manager for an upcoming Transformers Game from Kabam. The job is based in Vancouver Canada. This is the company making both a Transformers MMO and a fighting game. This job seems to be for the MMO because it also says that they will favour applicants that have built from scratch and made existing multi-million player communities effective. That's quite a requirement. For anyone interested, you can get the full job posting here.

Via fellow Seibertronian Mindmaster, we have some new information about the Kabam studios mobile MMO featuring our favourite Cybertronians - Transformers: Forged to Fight. Gaming website Gamespot has sourced an interview with both Kabam and Hasbro, which you can view in its entirety here, and some snippets offered below. Read up on the background of the upcoming game - which seems to blend classic Transformers elements with the movieverse - and join the conversation in the Energon Pub!

Developer Kabam and toy company Hasbro today announced Transformers: Forged to Fight, a mobile game based on the well-known franchise.

Described as a "high-definition, action-fighting role-playing game with strategy elements," Forged to Fight claims to offer trademark Transformers action. You will assemble an "ultimate" team of Transformers, including Autobots and Decepticons from across almost every era of the Transformers history, and then do battle. The game is set in a colorful 3D world, and battles take place in a number of varied and unique arenas. Click through the images in the gallery below to get a closer look.

The game is set in a "strange new world where multiple realities collide," which in turn creates a "massive planetary battlefield." So, you know, Transformers stuff. Some of the features include 1v1 battles, RPG elements described as being "deep," and base-rading. Some of the playable Transformers include Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, Starscream, and Grimlock. These characters can be leveled up through gameplay, unlocking more abilities over time.

Forged to Fight enters beta in some territories soon, and will be released widely across the world in Spring 2017. The game is in development at Kabam Vancouver, which is the studio that made Fast & Furious: Legacy and Marvel Contest of Champions.

[...]

The release teases a "unique" story that goes beyond purely good and evil--what more can you say on that front--and is this canon?

McCartney: We've worked closely with our partners at Hasbro to create the story of our game. In doing so we've ingested every classic cartoon, comic book, movie, that you can imagine. Our team has immersed ourselves in the Transformers Universe in order to understand each character’s unique personality and quirks. As the game begins Optimus Prime is returning to his home planet of Cybertron after many years of conflict on earth. During the course of his travels his ship encounters a strange anomaly in space and crash lands on a strange planet. Through the course of the game Optimus is attempting to unravel the mystery and escape the planet.

[...]

How much freedom are you afforded in the Transformers universe? It's obviously a massive, revered franchise--but I'm guessing you want to push things forward with your own unique voice, so to speak, as well.

McCartney: We work closely with our partners at Hasbro to ensure that we stay true to the franchise and lore established over the course of the last 30+ years. We also take the history of the Transformers franchise very seriously. For example, before we start work on a new character we have a bit of a classroom session for everyone working in that character. Our Transformers experts walk everyone through the history of the character and his / her personality traits. This gets everyone in the right mindset before starting work on a character. With regard to the story and character dialogue, Hasbro has been amazing. They give us the freedom to create our own vision and then feedback if something isn't true to lore, or if we're pushing something too far. For the most part this interaction has been minimal. We're excited about continuing work with Hasbro in the future and we have a lot of ideas we can't wait to collaborate on.

KABAM AND HASBRO UNVEIL TRANSFORMERS: FORGED TO FIGHT

More Than Thirty Years of Transformers History Collides in an Epic High-Definition 3D Action-Fighting Game

SAN FRANCISCO – December 1, 2016 – Kabam, a world leader of massively multiplayer mobile games for a global audience, and Hasbro Inc. today announced the title and key details of TRANSFORMERS: Forged to Fight, a new high-definition, action-fighting mobile game set in an immersive world. The game will feature authentic Transformers “more than meets the eye” action, allowing players to engage with Optimus Prime, Megatron and many other popular Autobots and Decepticons in a stunning 3D environment. The new title will enter beta testing in select territories soon and will be available worldwide in Spring 2017.

TRANSFORMERS: Forged to Fight will give players access to nearly every era of the franchise’s history, challenging gamers to assemble the ultimate team of Transformers characters, including Autobots and Decepticons from the animated TV series, blockbuster films, as well as fan-favorites from the Transformers comic book series and Hasbro’s line of iconic figures. As fans assemble their team, they will forge alliances, battle other players and dive into a unique storyline that goes beyond good versus evil.

“TRANSFORMERS: Forged to Fight embraces the best that the Transformers brand has to offer, allowing players to collect the most memorable Autobots and Decepticons from every era of the brand’s thirty-plus year history,” said Mark Blecher, Senior Vice President, Digital Gaming and Corporate Development at Hasbro. “We’re excited to work with Kabam to bring this unique mobile game to life, and think fans will be thrilled with the final product.”

In TRANSFORMERS: Forged to Fight, explore an epic new universe where multiple realities collide to form a massive planetary battlefield. Players will assemble a team of Autobots and Decepticons from across time and space to fight against a world of corrupted Transformers and their villainous overlords. The game features amazing visuals, intense one-on-one battles, meaningful robot to vehicle converting action and deep RPG elements. Transformers such as Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, Starscream and Grimlock will level up over time, unleashing powerful new abilities and devastating robot-vehicle attacks.

“The Transformers franchise and its characters are larger than life, and Kabam is working closely with Hasbro to develop a game that lives up to that expectation,” said Mike McCartney, Executive Producer for TRANSFORMERS: Forged to Fight. “It will be a thrilling experience for long-time fans of the brand as well as newcomers, offering players incredible visuals, action-packed gameplay, and a truly immersive world.”

TRANSFORMERS: Forged to Fight is being developed by Kabam Vancouver, the studio who created Fast & Furious: Legacy and Marvel Contest of Champions, a top grossing game on the App Store.

I don't see a Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat style fighting game working on a mobile device unless they drastically dumb down the controls to Atari 2600/NES button levels. Or use some odd set of slide/swipe control mechanics-which I don't see performing well with the graphics level they look to be going for.

The highly polished video of how they want the game to look is pretty though.

There was, and is. The same style is used for Injustice and WWE Immortals. It's tap the screen to attack and then other combos to trigger special abilities, all of which are upgraded via cards which can be won ... or purchased.

I expect this will be something similar. Having played both MK and Immortals they're quite fun, simple yes, but they need to be to play on phones and tablets (I found they worked best on my phone as I only used my thumbs and they don't reach the middle of my tablet)

They look a it too much like toys to me (I have one with Rhinox that looks like plastic to me) but otherwise the graphics are good.

However I looked at them coming out of a couple raids in Earth Wars, my brain had to adjust between style :-P

I have talked to a number of people in the Beta and no one is impressed. A few have already deleted the game, it appears to be extremely repetitive and basically exactly like the Marvel game, no changes but the graphics (or as one put it, scratched off the word Marvel and replaced it with Transformers).

I'm going to try it when I can, but the people I get my info from... I trust their judgement. :(
