One such figure has been the TV Magazine Gold Henkei Convoy, a gold chromed version of Classics/Henkei Optimus Prime. Until now, the chances of the average Transformers fan even finding one, let alone affording one have been slim.
That is until now, sort of. GenZhao of KOtoys.com has officially announced a series of KOLD figures (Knock Off Lucky Draw) that will begin with KOLD LE 01 GOLD OP. If all those abbreviations flustered you, the figure is actually a knock-off version of Gold Henkei Convoy and will be limited to 250 pieces.
Here are a couple of images of the figure. The rest can be found by clicking here.
As always, thanks for visiting Seibertron.com, the Ultimate Transformers Resource!

It's nice for a KO and all, but $60 nice? I'm not sure about that.

Oh wait, that's right, Hasbro/Takara only crack down on KOs that I actually want. If that chrome's anything like the transmetals, you'd better invest in glossy spray sealer, or else that electrum will flake off in a few years. Of course that has yet to happen to the gold on my Big Lots Primal Prime KO. And yet my Shokaract is spider-webbing...
Err, speaking of Big Lots KOs, has anyone heard any announcements concerning those deluxe-sized remolds of Legends of Cybertron figs?

After this and the miniature MP Prime, it's apparent that KO's are OK as long as they're from Seibertron.com sponsors and not just Chinese vendors.

KO Toys is not a sponsor. He/they post here and provides pics of upcoming toys, but isn't a sponsor.
I have ordered from KO toys, I ordered the KO Classics Thundercracker and Skywarp. Shipping was pretty fast (took about a week from China to Philly, going through NYC), and I got a shipping conformation email with tracking information.
I would recommend them and plan on ordering from them again.
I would order one of these Kolds, but I am a little short .

KO Toys is NOT a Seibertron.com sponsor. Sponsors are not allowed to advertise knock offs on Seibertron.com, though unofficial items like City Commander or the Cobra Headmaster are ok ... and they're only OK because everyone seems on board with them, which I personally think is unfortunate.
Knock offs are not OK, but what can we do? I think everyone here knows about how I feel personally about knock offs. I don't think we should even be posting news about it, but the masses have spoken because a lot of fans want to see things like City Commander. We provide news about these items as a service to those of you who are interested in it. Hasbro has put us in a tough spot regarding these types of products because they haven't come down with a heavy hand to put a stop to things like this. So, unfortunately, we have to report it as news.
If I had it my way, there would be ZERO official site news about knock offs and unofficial products.

Is it? The photo I checked didn't show that. I mean the gun especially, with the reddish plastic seems inauthentic to me.
Edit: I guess I was looking at a pic of another KO LD Convoy. But compared the to real deal that plastic is extremely red. Heck, even just on it's own it looks like parts of Prime got sunburned.

I think it's the lighting, or this will be the only way to tell if it's this KO or the original which can make a difference of about $1940. But I think it's the lighting. With the KO pics being pretty close to the in person-experience as it's extremely close to the real deal, which I got to see at last years AA.
Anyway this I want, I have a hard on for this mold and shiny things. And by 60 this is cheaper than what I had to pay for my floppy Classics UM.

Not from me. A knockoff is a knockoff.
However this is done by a company called KOtoys, so I think the expectations that it IS a knockoff has tempered some heat.

However, in china, KO version of the toy is also available.
So it depends on which mold they are using.
If it is chinese KO toys to repaint, then it deserve the "KO" title....

There's significant chrome wear and scratching, and one of the arm parts even broke off.
Here's pics of the buyer's chromed KO:
The KOToys guy wound up getting kicked out of TFW when he went postal over the review.

well we have been doing it for over 2 years and KOtoys is reaching its first year marker soon, so it cant be that bad
But yea, those shouldnt be chilled and scratched like that, they are bad. So the factory is making another 250, all orders shipped out so far will have a great condition replacement sent out, and all other orders are being postpond to ship in roughly 1 week to 10 days.
Hope that helps, you can always email me directly or get me on msn

Hope the replacements do turn out better. So long's it's not a matter of life and death, people tend to be forgiving if a product is late, as long as the quality's good.
Problem though is, judging by how you reacted on that feedback thread, why should we consider buying from you? The guy who bought your KOLD was a regular customer of yours, and you threatened to not help him out.

You consider the City Commander is a KO? The Devastators and Superions they're currently selling in Easter baskets at the Family Dollar? Sure. But something completely designed and engineered by third party isn't the same as a knock off that just straight copies Has/Tak's work. That's actually my problem with the iGear Mini MP Convoy. I doubt they reverse engineered one and built their own following the design. It's far more likely the used the mold shrink method and tinkered with the details to make them visable in the smaller scale. Either way, dirty pool (as Gomez Addams would say.) Some third party products even have been used as exclusives of official Hasbro conventions. First the Unicron.com Vector Sigma with Key from Botcon 2007 and then the TFCon Diaclone Powered Commander in early 2009.
I just don't think the issue is so black and white anymore. That said, there are still the blindingly obvious KO's, like this one and ones like it, but is the FP Warbot a knock off Springer? The Knightmorpher (HoS Optimus) a KO or the Mastercollectables Nova Prime. Far more design and engineering went into the 200 plus piece Nova Prime than anything Has/Tak has done. And Hal's ARC Arcee model has even been recognized as his IP by Hasbro! If Hasbro legally recognized a third party creation as their IP, the only thing keeping them off of store shelves is funding which a couple of these companies may actually be able to secure. On City Commander and other third party products, Hasbro has far more to lose by having them legally recognized.
On third party products, silence is the best legal strategy Hasbro can take.
Posted by Droptested Thrice on April 1st, 2010 @ 7:02pm CDT
But I do agree that some items from third parties aren't really so cut and dried as KO. Those City Commander add-ons would fit more with those custom parts you put on a car.
Being unofficial =/= knockoff, otherwise we may as well call all products not officially recognized by HasTak as knockoff, like TFCon.

I don't see that Hasbro really does have anything to lose with add-on stuff. I mean, if City Commander was going to be in stores in 6 months time, Hasbro could do another run of Ultra Magnus figures and then they'd have another company advertising the product they themselves have on shelves. * In fact, I'd think that Knight Morpher Commander and things like that would probably be less likely to escape the legal wrath of the Has. It's clearly based on a design from a licensed Hasbro product, while the Prime trailers and UM armour appear to be more original. They are obviously inspired by Hasbro designs, but they're not direct translations from the page to 3d. I don't remember a design the same as City Commander appearing in comics or a cartoon or another toy before the piece was released.*
Never happen though. No company big enough to put something like that into mass production would want to give the competition free advertising. It'd think it far more likely that some of the makers of these excellent looking original sculpt add-ons might be picked up by toy companies to create original pieces unrelated to the Transformers brand.
As for knock-offs themselves, I find them interesting, and although I don't really own any (a few Legends size KOs bought at a pound shop is about the extent so far) I do enjoy seeing some of the random colour combos they get, and can see why someone might go for a KO rather than a hard to find original/rare Has/Tak product. I don't like it when they are actually coming close to copying the official packaging, but that's mainly because of the lack of hilarious engrish names.
