Kohl's exclusive? That thing's been at Walmart for months. Discounted down to $24.99, even, since it's been shelfwarming for so long.

And the odd thing about that is, it has "A Kohl's Exclusive" sticker on it. Here's a pic:

Having never seen the other mass release piece, is there any deco difference? or is it literally just the sticker on the package?

It looks dead-on the same as the Walmart pack from last Christmas, no deco difference that I can see even on the mini-figures. Probably was assumed that Walmart had long run out of them (they have around here at least), so they solicited them to Kohl's as an exclusive for this year.

I'd be curious if you could scrub that blue energon deco paint off the front of the cab... or if there are wacky tattoo-style details molded into the front of him. I kinda want a version of this Prime, but would prefer it look more G1.

Looking at mine, the blue Energize tech detailing is indeed painted onto the red plastic, but the Autobot symbol with the ring is molded into the plastic, so removing the blue paint from that might be tricky.

Site sponsor BigBadToyStore gives us a first look at a couple new Transformers: Rescue Bots Rescan 2015 series 1 figures. Salvage who transforms into a garbage truck is in the wave with the new Rescan Optimus Prime and the previously revealed Boulder and Chase. Check out the bot and alt mode images from the listing which is scheduled to drop in December.

So, does Salvage rescue the environment by mining landfills for recyclable and compostable waste? Shame he wasn't around for the Earth Day ep.

Alas, another new character who shan't make it into the show.

Though, his torso makes me think of Rescue Roy.

And why are they making another Optimus figure based on the first one?

I still say we need an episode like Autoboot Camp where the Rescue Bots remenise on some of the Cybertronians they trained with, maybe one of the older siblings has a reunion, and Hoist, Medix, and now Salvage all get a quicky shout out. They could easily be buddies of Chase, (Repo?) Heatwave, and Boulder respectively.

Come to think of it, I don't think we got our AoE garbage truck, did we?

If only. But the makers keep saying that it's too expensive to create new Bot models.

What's the point of that Optimus figure? It's just the first one, but with slightly better proportions.

Salvage reminds me a bit of Strong-Bot, but I like Transformers with unusual alt modes like garbage trucks, so I'm interested.

Sabrblade wrote:If only. But the makers keep saying that it's too expensive to create new Bot models.

...That makes me wonder exactly what kind of budget the show has. How much lower than what Prime or Animated had is it?

Metro Prime wrote:What's the point of that Optimus figure? It's just the first one, but with slightly better proportions.

Waist looks like it turns during transformation rather than feet flipping up. Plus, like you said, slightly better proportions. But more significantly, it's probably at the new, smaller and cheaper price point. And the original isn't necessarily going to be readily available any more once this one hits shelves.

What's more is that now the show has greatly improved its use of CGI models for the bots, so I'd imagine that it's now more expensive than ever to animate the six Autobot models that they already have.

Transformers Rescue Bots Elite Rescue Heatwave showed up a few days ago on HasbroToyShop.com and was found at retail earlier tonight at Target in Rosemont, IL by Seibertron himself.

He gave us some in hand images which include our first look at Elite Rescue Salvage, found on the back of the card.

As you can see from the comparison shot, these seem to be upscaled versions of the first year figures such as Heatwave the Fire-Bot with new alt modes and a slightly more complex transformation.

Pass. As a parent I am done buying rescue bots after I find rescan Boulder and Chase. These "reissues" are getting stupid. I might pick up the new bot though. Depending on cost.

I noticed last month that Hasbro reissued the original Hoist and Medix, which was great as I picked them up for $10, after selling my first set on ebay about a year or so ago for about $100 each!

I saw them at Target a few weeks ago. I passed at the time because I was already buying about $40 worth of toys and had to cut my trip down. And the fact that Meijer and Walmart still have the price point of $7.99 while Target has always been 9.99 each. I figured I would wait untikl I see them there. I hate it when you go weeks without finding squat, and then all the sudden everything shows up at once... :)

Reissues like the rescans, the dinos, these new ones......new characters are in order. That is why I might pick up Salvage, and was glad to see Medix and Hoist reissued.

They keep making new toys of the main four since those guys are in the show. They're trying to milk their popularity as they always do with popular characters.

I wager it is $14.99, but it could be more. I am actually going there to day on my lunch break, so I will look then. If they have Salvage I might grab it.

I understand, but they should release a few new characters every year or so. I like that they are not overloaded with characters, but adding a new bot every year or so would be better. With this line we have had five reduxes for the same six characters. Two of which barely are in the show, which I am happy about. BB and Optimus are cool and all, but geez.....

Yes. We had the first set, the Energized, and these, which are basically the same molds, and then the dinos and the rescans, which were at least different to a certain extent.

At least they threw a new bot in there with Salvage.

Not true. This new Heatwave is much bigger than the original (roughly the size of the old nontransforming Electronic figures, or the big Optimus that came with the Rescue Trailer), turns into a very different-looking fire truck, and has a completely different transformation scheme.
Re: Kohl's exclusive Rescue Bots Optimus Prime Rescue Trailer Now Available (1643909)

Not to mention that we are getting a new character (whether or not he'll be in the show is another issue).

Image

And this Heatwave is a new mold, priced at $19.99 that is considerably larger than even the larger first 2 years of Rescue Bots as shown in this picture. Masterpiece Soundwave should demonstrate the considerable size difference along with Medix.

Image

Man, I really need to do a Rescue Bots gallery marathon to get that line current in our galleries.

It is a retool of the original, up scaled. No different than they did with Chromia with Prime Arcee.

Energized and the originals were the EXACT same molds with clear parts. The point is it is the same old figures being released over and over. They are starting to put the ROTF line to shame....

$20 price point? Ouch. It is BIG though. Maybe seeing them in person will help with the price.

If so, I will only get Salvage. My boys don't need yet another Heatwave.

Same goes for all the motorcycles.

Prime Arcee to Generations Chromia was a retool, yes.

Yeah, that Q line... while a bit of a random collection... is really cute. I have the first wave. They're all manual transformations, and a few straight-up G1 bots are included. Prowl and Sideswipe are almost spot on like the G1, but others fudge the transformation a bit. G1 Prime, Wheeljack, Hound, Sunstreaker, Bluestreak and load of others are on the way. Good fun.

Back on target tho, may pick up that Prime. Looks like a good representation.

No Salvage at my local Target. Hell, no new transformers in general. Just the same RID figures warming the pegs. And blank spaces where the generations stuff goes. What irritates me is that every other toy line has their new stuff out.

Says you, that's an out-and-out reskin of Chase. Same transformation, same parts arrangement. Of any of the new Rescue Bots, He and the new Minisub guy (who appears to be using Heatwave's boat mode) would be the two easiest because the animation framework is already there. Remember, they pulled the same trick with Ultra Magnus in TF:Prime.

Still odd how the character design on the packaging artwork and the toy's design don't match each other, after all this time of us getting character designs homogenized between the packaging artwork and toy appearances.

Fellow Seibertron.com member and podcaster ScottyP has just sent us a tip about some interesting Transformers: Rescue Bots figures showing up at his local Target in Raleigh, NC. As you can see in the image below, he has found the new Boulder and Chase toys, plus a first sighting of Rescan Optimus Prime, and Salvage, for $9.99 each! If you spot these in your area, make sure to flag it up in the appropriate section and forums to help other collectors out.
