The options for customization are your's of course in any case. You can go for a G2 approach or you can go for the Beast Era approach. You can find the instructions for LG63 G2 Megatron as well as the LG62 Targetmaster Windblade and LG 61 Clonetron sets.

Consequently, it also reduces any chances of Takara ever doing any kind of release of a Rebirth-accurate redeco of Fortress as Cerebros.Wolfman Jake wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Check it out, Spike's Cerebros head (which is a new face mold different from Hasbro Emissary's Cerebros head) has been color-matched to Takara Fortress's body.

Pretty sure they're too big to go on the Headmaster. Since the Headmaster is Beast Megatron that would make this his Transtector, effectively making this Beast Megatron as a tank rather than G2 Megatron if you so choose, hence the stickers. The sticker sheet also says right on it to basically stick them wherever you want.

I've had the original for years, it feels so refreshing and a little weird to finally have basically the same thing with proper articulation (the original was a BRICKKKK) and two guns (my G1 was missing a gun.) Although they look somewhat puny, the ones in the boxart look so much better. (Does anyone know where I can download free printable files for Transformers? Can even be generic guns/blades that fit the standard holes.)
As a Leader Class he towers all the Deluxes which suits me, because he was a Skyfire-type of giant in his one scene in Rebirth. And he fits pretty well with Ultra Magnus if I want Headmasters continuity.
I love that the Headmaster gimmick is optional here, wish that was the case with the Targetmasters. Although his Titan Master being a mini version of himself is kinda cute. (Didn't mention it before, but Misfire's TM also has nice paint.) Too bad he doesn't come with a miniature version of his gun-mode. And speaking of his gun-mode... I know they try to pass it off as a "submarine" but if you collapse the legs there's actually a trigger! (see one of the images.)
My favourite part of his transformation is how the chest-wing things are stored in his torso. Love the silver paint on his wings, hope the paint doesn't come off. So nice! (btw, do you think unpainted white plastic is still prone to yellowing?)
Surrender, Sixshot! The magnetic device I've placed on your chest will atomize you if you try to remove it without the proper pass-code -- which only I know.
You'll need a computer on par with Teletraan II working for days to crack the code! You may possess the superior firepower, but I possess the superior intellect. You're done.
Oh, this device you mean?

Maybe because he was the most expensive of the lot and appeared in only one scene, and he's basically just a gimmick -- i.e. his alt modes aren't "real" proper things, most of it is just his limbs arranged in different configurations.. wheels forward, wheels backwards, forearms to the side, to the back etc. But somehow, he turned out to be the most exciting in-hand!

The yellowing is always a hit and miss. It's great you are now enjoying his royal awesomeness that is the Takara Sixshot. And the added knee stubs. The headmaster is unpainted this time compared the Hb which is all the good to avoid paint chipping. For me, the face and the added paint apps enhanced all those details on his robot back really did the base mold justice.
Also, the entire package of Takara's last Legends release for 2017 will be costing me at US$120 damage(Spike in his Excel Suit and his interactivity as Cerebros.......how Sakamoto is going to shoe horn this given that the Headmasters from Nebulos also made an appearance in the Legends Universe will sure be a stretch)

I don't think the hubbub over the "fan service" in the Legends manga is only out of concern for any children who might be reading (though, that's still a good reason itself). It's exploitative of women in general, and tolerance for this kind of stuff is at an all time low in American culture right now. Yes, I know that the Legends managa are written for a Japanese audience, and their tastes and tolerances may be different, but western fans are being exposed to this too, regardless of authorial intention. There is going to be backlash, even when adjusting for cultural considerations and context. Just understand that this is simply not the kind of stuff a lot of people appreciate right now, even if they're only "accidentally" being exposed to it.

This review covers everything regarding this toy like the comic and the box, which states that the toy is for and audience of 15 and over (something your fellow news editor had not realized until now).
Enjoy!
And here is a comparison with the Hasbro version.

To be a little fair, the Japanese cartoon deco of Slugslinger from The Headmaster did feature more toy-accurate details than Slugslinger's American cartoon model from The Rebirth had, so Takara's going by Headmasters cartoon-accuracy in turn resulted in some toy-accuracy at the same time, which was also the case for a lot of these Headmaster-accurate Legends figures since the Japanese cartoon models in general were largely more toy-accurate than the Rebirth models were.william-james88 wrote:It is interesting to note that while the Hasbro version (which we also included a review of or those interested in comparing) is usually meant to be more toy accurate, this Takara version does have very important features that the G1 toy had which the Hasbro version does not include such as the silver paint on the chest and the inclusion of a Target Master.

As the account explains, the G2 factor can be enhanced with the special sticker sheet included with the figure sporting a Megatron Rules, G2 Decepticon and Predacon symbols, and also features a tiny Noble / Savage homage from the Beast Machines animated series, redecoed from the Fangry Titan Master drone. Check out the images below!

(yeah i modified my figure a bit... yeah i suck but i like the new head much more)
Not sure how the cannon is attaching to the shoulder though. Tried to do that with mine and I couldn't find a place where it would stay on. Not a big deal. Was just curious.

There should be two 5mm holes on either side of Megatron's head for the cannon

Ah never mind. I misunderstood the perspective. It's the 5mm post of the extra bit of the cannon (that is grey on the G1 Megs figure though I painted mine black) that's insrted into the hole by his head. I was too focused on the center of the cannon thinking it was attached to his shoulder. Thanks.

The Headmaster is decoed like BW Megatron, that's why. The T-Rex and gator forms (especially the purple one) double as G1 Megatron

Thanks, I tried every orientation, nothing works. Disappointing.. Anyone else have this issue?
Edit: solved with a utility knife in ten seconds. Removed the bits that got in the way.
As a "universal emulator" you'd think that Perceptor would have had the most accommodating Headmaster port of them all.

After Triggerhappy and Misfire there are no surprises here. But HasTak made each figure look different enough. The colour-scheme and paint look great, love the face-sculpt especially the eyes. Though there's a strange rectangle around his mouth that I can't explain.
The jet-mode is also different enough from the other two. I really like the twin nosecone gimmick, even if neither can actually accommodate a pilot.
Once again, no landing gear, it seems to be sculpted into the hinge.
The pilot compartment isn't as swanky as Misfire's.
The Decepticon Targetmaster jets seem to lost transformation steps with each new release. Not a critique, just an observation.
Caliburst is also pretty much the same toy as the last two Targetmaster guns, but again, look different enough.
Kind of weird that Takara didn't design the guns in such a way where they could also connect to the Decepticon's arm like in the Japanese cartoon. It seems like an easy task for them.
I like Slugslinger and happy to have all three jets, even if they are stuck with the Headmaster gimmick.

The Legends manga made Super Ginrai into a new kind of "-master" called a Triplemaster, in which he utilizes the powers of a Headmaster (his own head), a Godmaster (the "Iacon" engine sculpted onto his torso), and a Getmaster (any other little guy who can be placed inside his chest's cockpit compartment) all at once.
If Super Ginrai can be considered a "Triplemaster" by having all three of those other "-master" abilities at once, I wonder if all of these Headmaster Targetmasters would, by the same token, be considered something like "Doublemasters".
