According to
Canmag. Michael Bay mentioned the length movie. This is, for now, just a rumor since there is no source of when he said it.
Bay said that the
Transformers Movie will be longer than people might expect.
"I think it'll be longer than people expect because it's very entertaining," said the producer
Just as the
article says, Michael Bay's last movies have been close to 2 hours in length, so it could be very well true.

Is 2 hours 'long' for a movie these days? I thought 2.5-3 hours was the norm, with 3+ being counted as a long movie.

I'm with Psychout- I thought that movies were supposed to be 2 hours, and 3+ was considered a long movie. Tis' cool with me; I'm into long flicks.

These days 2 hours or a bit longer is normal. I don't think there are that many (good) movies that run for 3 hours.
For example, Spidey 3 will be over 2 hours. According to /Film it is the longest of the 3. Spidey 1 and 2 were both just under 2 hours long.

I hope the movie is long, 'cuz I've read the script and so far I'm afraid the movie might just feel long...
But I'm hoping that longer movie = more fighting robots.

Longer movies are harder to make without boring the audience. However, if this movie is as much non-stop action as they are saying, it should do well. I think Bay's goal with this movie should be to completely overwhelm the audience with action while using the subplots to accentuate it.
Worst long movie ever: Gone with the Wind...240 minutes if Scarlett whining.
Best long movie ever: Braveheart...no doubt.

I had hoped it would be at least a 2 hour long movie. I think the minimum that most movies around around 85 - 100 minutes. I'll take over 120+ any day.

2 hrs sounds great. Looking forward to it even more now. Most films of this nature are around 1-1.5 hours so an extra 0.5 or more makes a difference and makes it more reasonable for what we will pay to see it....longs for $2.50 Tuesdays back in the 80s at the theatres.

How can anyone in their right mind use Gone with the Wind in the same sentence as "worst movie?" That movie is still good drama after all these years.
I mean, come on... what do you want, a Michael Bay mo... oh, wait...

Generally it seems to be that 1h 45m is the avg

Very easily.
Here's how to make it better:
As Rhett Butler is leaving Tera...
Rhett: Frankly, my dear Scarlett...
(pulls the slide, it gives off a metalic *Click-clack!*)
*BAAAHM!*
(Puts a 9mm hollow tip into what there is of Scarlett's grey matter.)
... I don't give a damn.
*Que music as Rhett walks off into the sunset, a hero
I would have felt like my time was much better spent if that had been the ending.
Oh yeah, and the Transformers movie is going to Rock!

If the movie to me is at most 2 hours I would be content. I enjoyed the LOR I have sat through a few 3 hour movies and well...that's too long no matter how good the movie is.

Bay's movies such as Bad Boys and Armageddon last well over 2hrs. something like 2hrs and 35 minutes I say Transformers will be 2hrs and 10 minutes. but that doesnt include Trailers and the end credits I dont count that. I hope it has a cool opener with some narration and writing explaing the opener and what is the situation sort of like the 1985 movie. I will still see this movie no matter I will see this movie I guarantee what Sony is doing is Releasing the Game the G1 DVD Box Set and the Movie all at the same time. If that is the cause I will have to save up at least $200 bucks.

2 hours sounds right. In the past couple years summer blockbusters have been shying away from the 90min run as veiwers where feeling jipped.
120mins seems to be the new happy norm!

Eighty-five minutes is really short. It's like the "6 Minute Ab Workout" (
There's Something about Mary reference).

*BUZZ* Spider-Man clocks in at exactly 2 hours, and few seconds to spare.
Spider-Man 2 was 2 hours, 7 minutes.
Spider-Man 3 is supposed to be between 2 hours, 15 minutes and 2 hours, 20 minutes from what I heard.

i think 1:50-2:10 would be good. i hope they don't have some 10 min pointless cartoon-ish intro with the cast's names flying around all over the place.

Yeah there is nothing I hate more then getting all pumped up to go see a really hyped movie then having to sit through 10 minutes of roller coaster type camera work with all the cast and crew names on some cartoon graphics.

A half an hour for the animated movie? No, it's longer than that. The episodes were about 22 minutes alone.

So much for the length of the movie being to establish character depth and storyline, eh?
At least the action was good.
