Finally, a BB update that's a VW. I've waited, what, i dunno, 30 years for that?

I don't think you're a dreamer, but I'm not sure you'll see it so soon (people might say the same thing about my hope for Shockwave). Especially since they opened up the cans of worms that are Ultra Magnus and Star Saber, I don't know if we can rely on them to stick to Season 1 or 2 bots in the near future.

For the most part, Bumblebee and the rest of the minibots came up to Primes waist level in the cartoon. (yes I know there were some anomalies) But that vintage toy scale where the mini bots only come up to Primes kneecaps is just stupid. I hate the toy scale, always did, always will. While the cartoon was far from perfect, it attempted to correct a lot of things that looked bad in the toy line. The season 1 lineup was mashed together from a bunch of different Japanese toy lines of different sizes. So tweaking the scale in the cartoon made sense. It gave it a more realistic vibe.

Shipping depends on how fast and heavy.
Wheeljack's shipping cost me about 18 us for 7 day shipping, but that was to Germany.

The only way anyone is getting this for $39 is if it's a knock-off. Even in Japan it costs more than that.

Sabrblade, you hit the nail on the head. Also, X, is EVERYTHING that doesn't conform to your extremely narrow view "silly crap"?
For the most part, Bumblebee and the rest of the minibots came up to Primes waist level in the cartoon. (yes I know there were some anomalies)
SOME anomalies? The minibot's heights were completely all over the place. They NEVER stayed consistent- ever. Sometimes Bumblebee came up to Prime's chest, sometimes he came up to his knees. And whenever he transformed he seemed to go to "normal" car size (albeit with penny-racer proportions) despite being only slightly taller than a human normally. Seaspray was often depicted as the same height as Bumblebee in robot mode...and then the size of a normal hovercraft in vehicle mode. Sometimes. Warpath meanwhile seems to go from a decidedly non-Mini robot mode to a normal sized (and thus very large) tank.
But focusing on Bumblebee...
...Seen here barely bigger than a guy in a wheelchair...
...And here only somewhat larger than Ravage...
...And yet here roughly the size of an actual VW Beetle.
But that vintage toy scale where the mini bots only come up to Primes kneecaps is just stupid.
You mean the scale the cartoon actually used (most of the time)?
I hate the toy scale, always did, always will. While the cartoon was far from perfect, it attempted to correct a lot of things that looked bad in the toy line.
And yet whenever anyone tries to correct anything that looked bad in the cartoon (like Megatron turning into a goddamn handgun, the equivalent of Darth Vader turning into his own lightsaber for a Storm Trooper to hold) then you call it "silly crap".
By your logic, G1 is a horrible, heretical work that ruined Diaclone and Microman forever, changing Cosmo Countach's iconic red deco, giving Cherry Vanette a head instead of the COMPULSORY chair, and totally taking a dump over the source material by making them sentient robots instead of piloted mecha. G1 ruined Diaclone and Microman forever and raped thousands of Japanese children's childhoods forever.
The season 1 lineup was mashed together from a bunch of different Japanese toy lines of different sizes. So tweaking the scale in the cartoon made sense. It gave it a more realistic vibe.

I do not have a laughing image macro mocking enough for this.
But damnit I'm going to try.
...Ahem.
Anyways, this guy looks great. I'd actually love him for my "normal" collection as he looks pretty good next to deluxe cars. I kinda wish they gave him his penny racer proportions, but saying that, the Choro-Q look probably doensn't look quite as good at that size as it does on a penny-sized figure. Also engineering and all.
In any case, I love 'im.

No, if you highlight the price it's 47.26, shipping in my experience was about $12 for 1/100 Hi Nu Gundam. So Bumblebee can't be heavier than that huge box. It should come out to about $60.

We got it at pre-order prices. HLJ, like most Japanese based retailers have "early bird" pre-order prices that are below actual retail.
Just checked, BB cost me 5,100 yen, which according to current conversion is 47.11 USD, add 18 USD for fast shipping and you get 65.11 USD. Other places have even lower early bird specials, but I used hlj because they let me pay once it's there, and over pay-pal while the others use credit cards only.
For me this is the cheapest way of getting these, local hoby stores want like 80 USD for the figure alone, plus shipping. On top of that I get it the same time it arrives at their store.
Amiami, goes even lower, Star Saber for instance is currently 32% of.

Of course, to get a decent Goldbug, the following would need to be retooled:
Head
Shoulders (angled, slightly concave tops)
Chest (removing the fake rear window)
*tweaks could also be made to the waistpiece and thighs to make them more distinct
Don't know if they'd go that far, though; if they did do a Goldbug version, we'd probably only get a new head.

Copied from my Anime Export email receipt:
Transformers Masterpiece MP-21 Bumblebee ¥4,200 JPY
Current exchange rate = $38.83
Order from BBTS and it will cost $83 shipped. Two of these shipped with express shipping will probably come out to about $95 (shipping isn't calculated till it's in stock and they can give you an accurate quote). So for roughly $10-15 more than what the US shop loyalists pay for one, I'll get two of them. If I were more patient and used slow shipping, it would probably only be $5-7 more.
