MP-24 Masterpiece Star Saber Battle Station Mode

Eeech - what a hodge-podge technicolor nightmare. If other people like it, I won't take that away from them. But this thing, to my eye, just looks like amateur hour at the Masterpiece production facility.

Well, you can love or hate Saber, but he is superaccurate, judging from what we've seen so far. So he's hardly an amateur's attempt.

And, as a Victory fan, I cry tears of joy. Manly tears of joy.

Well that's the beauty of opinions. Everyone has them and sometimes the less popular ones in their fandom (not to detract from your's value) and it is nice to see how people react and express them in interesting ways.

I do think that last minute base modes were never in style. Takara just wanted to have a Citybot gimmick in a toy that wasn't designed to be one.

Wow, how many things can this toy do? It's brilliant in terms of engineering. I have agree somewhat with the color scheme. Disco colors are a bit of a turn off.

Ummm... No.

It's no better looking or worse looking than PMOP's "battle station" mode.

I will probably pass due to me not really having any sort of emotional attachment to the character and money is tight but I must say they really outdid themselves on this one. I just hope they did as well with the masterpiece Ultra Magnus I pre-ordered (except for that stupid red bumper in truck mode. I know it was part of the cartoon but I still don't like it).

Has it been mentioned how Star Saber's design drew heavily from Gundam due to the popularity of that series?

Its very interesting battle station, but also kind of strange at the same time. I am having a hard time connecting with this character, even though I like some of the alternate modes.

I think it was mentioned in passing a few pages back, by someone. He'd look somewhat out of place amongst my MPs if not for MP10's anime aesthetics.

Yeah, it's weird. I have a preorder in at BBTS but I know that I'm going to cancel it. Not might, going to. I want one, if I got it as a gift I'd be happy with it, but it just doesn't click with me. It looks like a third party attempt at a MP Star Saber.

It's very impressive and I'm sure it'll be a great figure but I wish Optimus Primal or Star Convoy had won the poll. I'd love to have seen how they'd done them!

What gets me about all the complaints about this guy's deco is how Starscream, Skyfire, Fireflight, Sky Lynx, all have the same colors as Star Saber (gray/white and red, with some blue and some yellow), yet no know ever makes a fuss over their decos.

what i dont get, is people complaining about an accurate color scheme period. now if he were supposed to be purple, magenta, feusha, and neon pink... but we got red/white/blue/gold... then you got something to complain about.

remember MP03 starscream? now THAT was something to complain about.

MP03 is a work of genius. I'm actually liking it more than the original colors because of how evil Starscream looks with those colors.

That is pretty much my reason for passing on him.

As far as the red bumper on Ultra Magnus, I'm thinking the TRU version might be different since they tend to go for toy accuracy over cartoon accuracy.

Hasbro's Prowl was exactly the same as Takara's, while Hasbro's Sunstorm used a pretty much made up color scheme no based on anything.

I never said "every figure".

There's not much to do with Prowl in a cartoon vs. toy paint scheme and Sunstorm, well...why even bring him up? However, Soundwave got the yellow eyes, Grimlock got red eyes, Rodimus is more like the G1 toy in color, ...a reviewer said he heard (yeah, I know) TRU's Magnus would have a lighter, more toy-like color scheme. It's not like I'm just making stuff up, and I was really just trying to give the guy a possible bright spot. Is everybody on this board super-aggressively confrontational?

Not getting this one, but boy is Takara making the decision tough!

It's... a miniature version of himself? That's really lame, but I'm guessing they're going for cartoon accuracy here. This is one instance I'd rather it were more like the toy. But it's amazing that they kept every gimmick intact. Time will tell if he turns out to be my favorite, but Star Saber is certainly shaping up to be the most impressive MP.

LOL, it just occurred to me, this little guy is the original Minimus Ambus.

Edit: March? Bummer, I thought it was February. I missed that announcement. Oh well, gives my wallet more time to recover from the holidays.

BTW, the shield is not an exclusive, right?

Be the first Materpiece 2.0 I do get. Can't wait. I have no real attachment to Saber, but its a cool figure and character I want to have in my assortment, and the amount of love the deisgners put into this figure is just astounding. The Swords, even incorporating the display tand as a usable piece of the robot, it's just too awesome.

Easily the best Masterpiece figure made. This fig raises the bar for all the future MP toys issued.

Here's hoping I have enough funds to get it...

The toy was like that. It had the details of the larger form molded into itself. It was just completely unpainted (unless the silver on its face is paint).



The head, the torso, the shoulders, the forearms, the knees, and the feet were all meant to look like this:

I never realized the original brain of courage had all that molded in detail. I just bought it because I thought it looked cool. Learned about Victory way later.

It looks beautiful!

Looks very nice, I had to watch "Victory" to understand the concept... I pass, I am not attached to it.

Now that we have MP detailing, "Courage' is basically the mini me of the supermode. Kind of like the Matryoshka doll concept.

Can't wait until March/April 2015.
