This assortment of 2 Voyager-scale TRANSFORERS action figures will be available in late May early June.
INFERNO - INFERNO’s name and deco are taken from the G1 character of the same name and Movie RATCHET’s red and white pre-production color scheme. G1 Micromaster Tote—a red and gray van—was another influence in initial color selection.
MUDFLAP - This MUDFLAP concept began with the name SAWTOOTH and an abandoned redeco color scheme from the TRANSFORMERS: CYBERTRON line. The name was unfortunately unavailable, and the concept colors weren’t convincingly realistic for a modern construction vehicle. Although a DECEPTICON, the inspiration for his construction-yellow and bone-white colors came from the G1 Micromaster AUTOBOT crane Erector.

However the color scheme is quite fitting. Even though I already own Armada Red Alert. I think i'll pick this up.
As for Mudflap, he's so going into my classics collection as Erector.
Loving the yellow, too bad he's a decepticon. A couple of reprolables can fix that though.
but yes I agree, he's Classics Micromaster Erector totally.

Mudflap, though...I passed to begin with. Wasn't a bad mold, but if I couldn't be bothered with buying him back then, why should I now?

Because now he's Classics Erector!.
As for Red Alert's minicon, I doubt they'd go to the trouble of naming the little guy.

Anyone else think Inferno looks a bit like G1 Ironhide?
Posted by Redimus on April 15th, 2008 @ 4:58pm CDT
Mudflap... love the mold, hate the colourscheme... that yellow realyl dosnt suite him.

and this is a perfect example of why I hate mini-cons: the little truck with Inferno should be the same size as Mudflap! why couldn't they choose objects that would at least be about the right size...

Kill the movie line and release the Animated toys already. Seriously, the decisions this company makes just makes my head spin...

The Mudflap repaint isn't terrible, but I prefer the original. I cant seem to spot any Decepticon symbols on him anywhere, can anyone else?

On the top right of the vehicle mode where his left arm is there's a gray Decepticon symbol.
I love the repaints personally. Its kind of like for the people who just missed out the first time around or for the people who want to collect as many as they can.
I also think that since the names Inferno and Mudflap are being used for the first movie figures it cuts the chance of TFmovie2 having characters with those names.

Given that I collect that mold, I'll be all over this guy like white on rice. Color scheme ain't half bad either.

Autobot Jazz wrote:Well, because they're exclusives, they won't take the spots new molds could fill in the overall line.
As far as I know, repaints don’t take the place of new molds usually. With repaints, you either get them or don’t get anything, because Hasbro isn’t paying much at all to make them. A new mold cost a lot to make, but repaints hardly cost anything, that’s why they make so many.

But don't take me wrong though, I like many from this line, mainly leader class Optimus Prime.

Uh...who's Erector? And why do I wanna make pervy fun of his name, all of a sudden?

Good point.
ghostscream127 wrote:hope the minicons name isint longarm...due to the other autobot from the movie line.something like grapple would work
I agree. It's like Overcracker said though; why would they go to the trouble of naming the little guy? Besides...I'm pretty sure duplicate names have been done without one of the figures being a repaint or "reformat" of the other character.

What about Beast Machines?
Besides Kup, BM's deluxe Jetstorm is my favorite figure, and as repetitive as repaints get, it's been a few years since they hit that one up for a repaint. Not that I'm trying to put any ideas into anyones heads. (If I was, I'd push harder for headmasters.)
And I'd still pass on Mudflap. I mean...good for those who missed him, but like I said to begin with: If I couldn't be bothered to begin with, why am I gonna be bothered now?

Surely those awful colours will change your mind!

And of course they're freakin' repaints.
Imo, the bot modes are WEAK...
"Inferno's" arms, legs, and head look stupid.
"Mudflaps" whole bot look appears to have been designed by a 4th grader...
I'm getting Premium Jazz, Deep Space Starscream, and then I'm never looking back at the Movie line.
(unless I decide to go back for seconds with a few I already own.
But if Animated comes out early, that ain't gonna happen).

I'd get him and replace the old Mudflap... Only to give him the Autobot insignias and partner him with Longarm. He reminds me of G1's Grapple.

3rd, but who's counting?
I like these, they are different enough from every other release of these toys that I like them already.
but why can't they do better paint apps for Longarm? seriously, that Mini-Con suffers every release...

quite better than deep space starscream

Strange they are reusing the mold's name like that, I would have liked him done in yellowy-orange with black stripes, silver trim and named Grapple

Didn't they do that with Wing Saber too? I think some of the Target basics used the original names too.

As for Inferno, sorry, but not a firetruck = not inferno.
Energon inferno is still a better candidate as a classics standin.
