New Galleries: Combiner Wars Defensor and the Protectobots

Just added in the images for the front and back of the deluxes and for the collectors card for Groove. 991 photos now!

I was hoping to snag these in the store. Didn't want to order bulk online. I was encouraged when Walmart got in bunches of wave 2. Was discouraged when yesterday I found them on clearance for $8. Meanwhile, one step changers from last year clog the shelf.

Offroad and First Aid's Hand/Foot/Guns can attach to the top of the vehicle mode too. There's a slit cut into their specific guns that slots on the tab on top of the the vehicle (For Offroad it's in the tray) They sit nice and flush.

Was hoping for some pics of the unofficial way of attaching Groove to Rook's knee.

Well see if I have time sometime in next week. Thought about it but at almost 1000 pics for these 7 galleries I had to move on right now to other new figures. Viper and warpath and thundercracker are next. Still wish I had found a small dog toy from schleich that would fill in for buster In a gallery.

I'm super excited for these guys. Completing Defensor was a white unicorn for "carytheweeone. I received all the limbs as a gift (did they come as a 4 pack?) for xmas. It seemed like it took forever to not only track down Hot Spot, but to talk my folks into buying it.

I kinda hope Takara make hot spots head all black with red eyes.
Not a huge fan of rook or groove, but will grab them till the jp version drops.

Hey all,

I know this is a gallery topic, but since some of you obviously have Defensor, just a quick question--

I have an MISB Japanese Hotspot (Inferno/Grappel mold) from the Generations line that I don't plan on opening.
I'm really diggin' the CW line so far, but I'm going to focus on collecting most of the Decepticons.
However, Hotspot was one of my favorite bots.
Is he worth getting even if I don't get the other Protectobots?

I read on TFwiki that CW Stunticon OffRoad started off as Triggercon Ruckus. Do Rook & Alpha Bravo have any history to tie them in any way to a previous character, toy, cartoon, or comic book story? I like my OffRoad based solely on his toy, but the G1 tie-in enhances his intrigue & my like for him. Has any designer commented on this?

Alpha Bravo looks suspiciously like Vortex in Robot Mode, so much that some are expecting a redeco of him as Vortex for next year's Bruticus. Rook is new from the get-go, and he didn't get his name by random: the top of his head is modeled after the castle chess piece aka "Rook" and given his heavy-armor vehicle and bulky robot mode, it's apt.

Our newest gallery is perfect for the Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover fans in the house. Combiner Wars Legends class Viper is a retool of Powerglide from wave 1. He is a double homage in that his alt mode is that of a Cobra Rattler while his head sculpt is a homage to Wild Weasel who pilots the Rattler. He also retains the weapon mode that Powerglide had which can be wielded by the Combiner Wars combiners. Viper was first seen in the Transformers: Battle Tactics mobile game. Mildly liked the CW Powerglide toy enough to buy it. Only bought it for it's targetmaster combiner ability. Have no interest to buy repaints using this toy.

Like the idea of a G.I Joe Transformers toy cross over. but it has to be a great character, nice design and big toy that I like. Like doing a bigger, better character like Optimus, Megatron, Overlord, Sixshot, Shockwave, Seekers.

The small guys still come with a card?

You guys are a tough crowd. Where are the folks that like this little guy? I love him! I thought it was great that we got an official Transformers/GI Joe Transformer toy after 31 years (the Titanium Megatron toy doesn't count ... it was just a BS bio for a BS toy).

What's not to like. TF and Joe is like PB&J. He's a buy on sight in my book.

People raved about it at first reveal. Maybe everyone missed the story? Lets news it again!

I like him. Not enough to troop build, I'll definitely get one. I'm just underwhelmed because of how long it'll take him to get to Edmonton

Wasn't it based on the Megatron design from the Dreamwave Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover that was set in World War II?

I will definately get this guy. A Transformers/GI Joe crossover toy you don't have to pay out the ass to the club for? Sign me up.

I kind of want a Viper, as a parallel Earth Powerglide.

Or as a Powerglide that's been repurposed by Cobra; sorta like that mini-series.

But I don't know if I'll get one.

The bio implied the WWII crossover comics, but his actual design was pretty different looking and didn't sport those purple colors, more G1 colors. (when they showed color)

The retool in this case is a new Warpath head sculpt. Warpath can be found in Combiner Wars Wave 3 alongside Viper. Being a retool of Megatron, Warpath lacks his iconic chest turret but sports a nice arm cannon. If anything, these new galleries remind me just how dope Deluxe Warpath is. I don't own the "Megapath" mold. I do like the Warpath deco better, I think its just more consistent than the Megatron release. Is this mold worth picking up?

He fits in great with the scale of legends class figures. I got him to take the place of my deluxe size one,and am still happy about my choice.

I think this is a great Warpath. Would I have liked it to have the more traditional chest cannon? You bet! Was I disappointed when this was first announced? Yep.

But I was pleasantly surprised once I had this in hand. I really felt like I was photographing Warpath. I think it was his head that really did it for me. That and the fantastic color that stayed relatively true to the colors I expect a Warpath toy to have. If we didn't have the deluxe figure (who still needs a hand gun by the way), I'd be extremely disappointed with this. However, I've already got a couple of Warpath toys that I already like so I like this different interpretation of him.

My only regret with this gallery is that I missed an opportunity to sneak in the Bot Shots Warpath gallery finally and include him in the comparison shots. One day!

Take away the boobcannon and take away the Warpathiness! Beyond that-he looks pretty good. Better than I expected.

Do these figures (Warpath, Huffer) give anyone else a Asia Premium vibe? I really like these. Maybe its just my rose colored glasses

Well, one thing's for sure. This is the first Warpath to have the most cartoon-accurate shade of red. All the others are either too bright or too toy-accurate. This one's red is the darkest shade yet, making it the most show-accurate shade.
