This is the deluxe class Bumblebee figure we are getting for the movie and all non gimmick toys for any other movie character will also be part of Studio Series. The photos give us a good look at the accessories and deco we will be getting at mass retail and show us how small he is compared to the previous Bumblebee figure which was already quite small.
Unlike the other Studio Figures we got so far, this Bumblebee is not based on the final CG models, as is made apparent with his wings no longer being as prominent in recent screen shots. This figure should be hitting mass retail in the coming month or two as it is part of the next wave of Studio Series figures along with KSI Bot and Shadow Raider.
So, does the size bother you? Let us know your thoughts on it and if you will be getting this one or one of the many other releases of this mold.

Anyways, I know he's obviously a Bumblebee, but the different size and the tone of his design makes me want to repurpose this Bee as a different character. So while Camaro Bee is the same Autobot from the 5 movies, this Bee can be a Centurion that looks like Bumblebee when he loses his memory and thinks he is the Autobot we all know and love. Of course, the real canon will contradict my headcanon (not to mention no TF fiction is safe from confusing continuity problems), but I like to use my imagination.

Somewhere, some Hasbro/Takara toy designer is banging thier head against a wall, wondering why the movie crew changed the CGI model at the 11th hour on them like that. They know in thier heart they'll have to do a "correct" version in the not too distant future.
Bumblebee, just waiting for the bus.

I'm glad they made him smaller too, it helps keep the scale consistent.

Consistent to what? Its not like he ever has to fight ROTF Megatron.

Anbd size is fine as suits the car mode and makes him look a bit younger too.

Consistent with the character since people have been pointing out that he appears to be a smaller bot in this movie, particularly in the garage scene.
I have to wonder if the figure would have been more accurate if the movie hadn't been pushed back by half a year. Is this what the character model would have looked like if they hadn't been given more time to tweak it?

Yeah I don't even care. I've said before on here I actually like the doors. They're part of movie-Bee's general image (and fit his name since they're like bee wings anyways) and find the current movie model kinda 'bland' without them. The toy is fine and I will gladly give money to Hasbro for it.

There's a comparison pic with SS Movie 2007 BB and the new one next to each other. There's definitely a difference but I absolutely don't care for his unmasked face

Well, he’s shorter in the new movie than he is in the others, so making him shorter will help him scale better with guys like Dropkick who are deluxes but are presumably bigger than Bee.

But then they could simply make dropkick bigger to scale better with a decently sized bumblebee toy.
I really see no reason for Bee to be so much smaller here.

In vehicle mode he's even a bit too big for 2007 BB. But we get a lot of accessories to compensate his size.
But Dropkick is definitely out of scale. Would be cool to get a triple-changer and they could even retool him into AoE Drift.
Did Drift show his helicopter mode in TLK?
Posted by Sabrblade on August 15th, 2018 @ 1:04pm CDT
It was the only thing he was shown transforming into onscreen. His Bugatti altmode would only just appear already transformed.Lunatic Prime wrote:Did Drift show his helicopter mode in TLK?

You're thinking of AoE, Sabr. Drift was a Mercedes-AMG GT R in TLK. I don't recall him using a copter mode in TLK, but then again, it was a slog just getting through that movie, so my attention definitely waned at points.

Yeah, I still think Dropkick should be a bit bigger considering he turns into a cobra helicopter, but making VW Bee shorter than 76 Camaro Bee is screen accurate, so I’m ok with it.

I really hope we get a Voyager Blitzwing later in the line, and Shatter to go with Dropkick
Something I’ve been thinking about is the new Voyager Optimus listed with Bonecrusher, Is anyone else thinking it could be the new G1 style movie Optimus from Bumblebee (new design, not the leader sized one from Takara)

The entire Studio Series line, short of Grimlock, is set to Hasbro's imaginary 1/whatever scale and all of the figures are scaled to it. It doesn't matter if VW Bee doesn't appear next to other characters from the other movies, he's still expected to abide by that same scale. If this were just a standard movie line then you're right, there's no reason for one to be smaller than the other, but in a line where bot scale is important VW Bee is going to be shorter than Camaro Bee just like they would be should they be standing next to each other in the movie. The scale works across all movies, not just contained within each movie.
I'd wager if they hadn't made this figure smaller then there's be just as many sticklers complaining about the figure being too big than there are complaining about it being too small now.

That scale is nonsense.
Bumblebee should be much smaller than that then, Carly (or whatever) is half his size and she is a teenage girl.
So shouldnt voyager Optimus from wave 1 be bigger then?
If its all bogus and the characters dont interact with oneanother, then just give us a decently sized BB rather than a halfway legends class toy at deluxe pricing.

Because they want the scale to be consistent across the line, so that even if characters have never interacted with each other (like, say, Starscream and Lockdown), they can be in-scale with each other.

Exactly. I don't see what's so hard to understand about it. Studio Series is an all-movie line trying to get a consistent scale (more or less... I still say Grimlock is far too small but I understand why he's that way for pratical and cost reasons and he's still the largest figure of the line) throughout and if i want to have (as mentioned earlier) VW Bee vs RotF Megatron, I can do that and have it not look ridiculous. No chance of any silliness like for example in the 2007 line where you had a Deluxe Arcee turn into a motorcycle that was faaaar too large to display with, say, Voyager Blackout's helicopter mode. Technically Arcee wasn't in the film but they still wanted you to buy the toy as part of that movie's line (and is the only 2007 figure I still have apart from a custom painted concept camaro Bee) and I love it's design so much but it's got no chance of displaying with my Studio figures cos it's gigantic in comparison to the overall Studio scale (GI Joe figures can sit on her bike form and they're not a huge deal smaller than Studio Jazz).
Speaking of Jazz, I had a go at moving his spoiler in robot mode to behind his head like I saw on a TFW2005 thread and i like it (need to clean up some of the filing) but yeah.

Oh hey! Yeah i may colour that black too then. And yes thanks very much for the inspiration. I did link the tfw2005 thread on my twitter post about it but i wasn't sure here cos i thought there some rivalry between the two sites or something. I found that one when googling for Studio Series mods. I do it with most Transformers and even some other action figures, just looking for those cool little improvements thought up by smart folk like you. I go find the seibertron thread for it and post there now. Thanks again.

Dropkick is from the forthcoming Bumblebee movie and is one of two main Decepticons in the film, and while in it he's a triple changer, going from a helicopter to a muscle car, here he's just a helicopter.
KSI Sentry is supposed to represent a generic KSI made transformer featured in the Age of Extinction. While there is no direct match in the movie, this is a redeco of Stinger, the red Bumblebee-like bot from the same film.
The eBay user who has listed both of these seems to have a limited quantity available but they should be hitting retail soon enough.

Yeeeah about £10 more than the shop price will be but I didn't get any Transformers for my birthday last Sunday and still waiting for my Ironhide pre-order from Kapow (whenever that officially comes out) so screw it. There ain't a whole lot other toys (or anything at all) catching my interest at moment anyways. I paid £30 for (sorta) early Lockdown and Jazz and was very happy with those. The others in this wave I'll wait til they in stores or discounted or whatevers.
