You are a year late to the party, perhaps read the previous posts to catch up? Either way Murderous-Prime does look pretty good. He needs to hold more Decepticon heads like a robot voodoo witch doctor to complete the insane look. Will I even consider buying this? HELL NO!

Here's a better shot of that last one where he is holding the head of his vanquished foe:

Oh and I wont be getting it either. At that price, this toy better come to life and make me dinner!

Like I wrote in the article, this isnt reltaed to anything. it's just to look cool (and cost way more). There is a "megatron version" too:

Is that version in possession of Megatron's face?

It doesnt seem like it. However, I hear hot toys is fond of selling sets in pieces, meaning that you could buy the head in a seperate edition or on it's own or something like that. I actually think Meg's guns look really bad on Prime that way. I preffer the wings, at least they look symetrical and more functional.

Yeah, Starscream's wings definitely look better on Optimus. The only way I'd buy the Megatron version is if it came with a Megatron face for him to hold.

Would you buy it at 350-400$? If it had the face I mean.

If I actually had $350-$400, maybe.

If I had that money to spend, I would first catch up on the MP figures I missed (Magnus and Bee).

Imagine if there was a version of G1 Optimus who was even more of a murderous psycho than Movie Optimus, so psycho that after killing and mutilating Starscream (and Megatron) in cold oil he strung up the parts of his opponent's corpse and attached them to his own body to wear as trophies in all their ghoulish glory.SillySpringer wrote:"Starscream Version"??? That is what this thing represents.
In other words, it's a representation of what the darkest, most delirious corner of the fandom believes they grew up watching on TV back in the 80's.

I'm just a fan of Optimus ripping faces off. I don't put much value into sentimental things. But this would be one of them I do. In all honesty though, if I had that money, I'd probably end up saving up for the Prime 1 Studios AOE Optimus. That's what I want. It'd be nice to have both of them. But no one seems to want to pay me what's due.

That scene is the first thing that came to mind for me too. It may have been brought up earlier on when this product was first mentioned way back, but I don't care to backtrack that far to verify that. I'll just call it a safe assumption. Either way, it should go a long ways towards dispelliing the "WTF?" moment that a lot of folks seem to be having.
Yeah, this thing looks way cool in a psychotic rampage kind of way but there is a snowballs chance that I'm going to pay that kind of money for a poseable statue that references a 3 second snippet from a single cartoon episode. I'll pick up a Prime of my choice and some Seeker parts or an F-15 model kit and make one that's fully transformable for about 1/5 of their asking price.

Actually it's probably not referencing that scene for two reasons. 1 starscreams shoulder intakes aren't on prime. And 2. The starscream head isn't an alternate heade meant to go on the prime body, it's an accessory meant to be primes trophy. This is most likely a loose reference to the end of ROTF, the prime using someomes cannibalized parts to upgrade himself. This figure really strikes me as being designed by someone with a cursory knowledge of G1, thought dreamwave was "totally radical yo!" And watched the last 30 minutes of the bay movies.

While this doesn't hold interest for me now its a nice alternative for those who Don't have $2k for the prime 1 stuff. Honestly though between this the metal earth stuff and other potable statues being released I'm happy hastak knowing that high end collectors aren't being left out of the fun. Hopefully these versions sell well as id love to see more stuff. For me though ill stick to the MP's.

Man that's a gruesome picture. Someone photoshop this Optimus black with red eyes and it'll make much more sense.

That’s not Optimus! It’s an impostor! He doesn’t just pick up a flying transformer’s corpse and wear their parts! Oh wait…

Anyways, I am a g1 and transformers anime fan mostly, so I don't know much about this "Murder Prime". Definitely something I'm not gonna waste money on.

william-james88 wrote:True, it doesn't Transform, it isn't an outright G1 reference and 345$ is quite a bit of money to spend...
It's G1 Prime wearing G1 Starscream parts, how more overt to you have to get before it's outright?
But if I'm gonna drop that kind of money on Transformers toys, I think I'd pick the 2016 FSS over this.

It would be outright if there was an episode where Optimus got into a fight with Starscream, then killed him and put on his wings. But that doesnt exist and thus this toy doesnt reference any moment from G1.

Should be out by the end of the year. It's already out in hong Kong.

You two are using two different definitions of the term "G1".william-james88 wrote:Nemesis Primal wrote:william-james88 wrote:True, it doesn't Transform, it isn't an outright G1 reference and 345$ is quite a bit of money to spend...

Nemesis Primal is using "G1" to refer to it as a concept, as in the overall toy/comic/cartoon/etc. franchise that existed in the 1980's and gained several spinoff media and merchandise in the years to come. A synonym for this version of the term would be "Primax"
Will is using "G1" to refer specifically to the 1984-1988 Sunbow cartoon titled "The Transformers".
It's times like this why I wish the term "G1" wasn't so broad in meaning as it has too many definitions that lead to such confusion.
