Fans still seem confused by this case of two different van molds appearing in the Studio Series 86 line at the same time. While the Studio Series 86 line will have both Ratchet AND Ironhide this year, they are not the same class, and are entirely different molds. Ratchet comes out in wave 3 of 2022's core class while Ironhide comes out in the final wave of 2022's voyagers.
Neither are exclusives, they are both mainline toys in different classes. This means that we will eventually get a CORE class Ironhide and a VOYAGER class Ratchet at a later date based on these molds, to suit whatever kind of collection and scale you want. We don't know if those will be exclusives or not.

Some fans were not entirely sure of the scale of voyager Ironhide so we have another image for you below. It comes from Prime vs Prime who has the toy and will be making a review of him shortly.

Just looked at a couple photos, & the back of the van of the original toy and the animation model show the back being completely flat.
All this to say it looks like the foot issue of the previous versions have been resolved.
Another reason I may get this version is because there’s not nearly as much greebling!!

This is exactly what I see. The panel folding under the foot is reminiscent of JP93. And to go back to your previous point about the clear windows I think that panel under the foot may also be painted clear plastic like JP93 giving him clear windows on the back. We know the side windows are clear because the panels that make them on the legs are also painted clear blue. Even if the foot panel isn't clear blue (thinking more about it it probably isn't), the bulk of the windows will be just like the original figure.

That said, I'm on team painted windows, I don't feel any need to see a bunch random robot parts inside an otherwise normal looking vehicle.

He doesn't look like a Voyager to me, but he'll probably come with his "sled" and a bunch of weapons to pad the price.

Should also point out that this isn't a great representation of the figure as it's most definitely edited out some stuff in an attempt to remove the background.

Emerje

I agree about the side windows... Looks like transparent plastic in those panels.
But in looking at these photos more, I can at least appreciate that the windshield/windows are blue transparent plastic, not just clear. That makes a big difference imo.
Also, possibly the biggest improvement imo is the waist.
It's not just suddenly a small brick of a piece at the bottom of the torso that the upper thighs are attached to.
Which is the main reason I think the new Blanker looks pretty bad.
In the most recent photo where Ironhide is posed running does a good job of what I'm saying.
And overall this figure just looks incredibly good.
Hopefully there aren't any QC issues, but based on appearance alone, I won't be able to pass on this one.
I'm also pretty excited that this also means we should be getting a Ratchet from this mold next year.
I skipped the ER version because I didn't want the 2 pack.

Nice one, Hastak... I really figured this was going to be a letdown of a SS86 figure.
Glad I was wrong!!

Hard to get a good feel for his size thanks to the forced perspective but I'm guessing he's around the size of Grapple.

He does seem to have a lot of panels on the back of his legs, too.

PvP has stated elsewhere that he's a tad shorter than Siege/Earthrise (no specific amount was given). I'm not totally sure how that compares to Grapple, but I'm pretty sure it's shorter?

Multiple leakers have also now stated he doesn't partsform (so presumably no sled, which might have been outright stated too but IDR), and one leaker who has seen info on the mold said that the mold includes an alternate Ratchet head (obviously), only one gun for Ironhide (I don't remember if there were different guns for Ratchet), and "alternate battle damaged parts". I believe the current theory on the battle damaged parts is that they are for separate releases and won't come with the base version, because a damaged Ratchet chest plate would be the most logical damaged part, and PvP mentioned that the chest plate is pinned on. So at this point it looks like this is it.

Does Prime vs Prime steal these unreleased toys?
Or does he get them from someone who stole them?

So are we allowed to feel salty about all the previous, almost-there attempts of these two we've had in the past couple of years yet? Can't wait to see the slightly improved leader class ironhide they reveal in another year >:oP

This is why I haven't bothered with the two versions of Springer. I'm sure there will be a better SS86 version, even if it's just an anime-styled paintjob, sans the cr@pple-damage.

They might even release decent versions of Astrotrain and Blitzwing, providing they keep the idiots responsible for the recent versions as far away from them as possible.

Interesting that they have battle damage tied to the mold, but what would that release even look like? A dead Prime is one thing, he got a proper send off surrounded by his fellow Autobots, Ratchet and Ironhide's deaths were far from noble and releasing figures of them would be a little more morbid. Time for that Starscream ash pile to get a figure!

BTW, I never doubted that Ironhide was a Voyager, I just meant I could see him getting the Hot Rod treatment and the sled would just be an accessory like it was on the MP, not part of the alt mode. Hopefully the complexity is there to justify the price. The Grapple mold got three accessories after all, that tiny gun that comes with Ironhide doesn't really cut it by comparison.

How much of the van is tucked into his legs? It's this going to be another Hot Rod or Wheelie situation where part of the car is just unfinished?

These just look cheap to me. I guess I don't understand how a character like Junkheap- who was also in the movie briefly, but has even less of a storied "history" and fan following- managed to get a voyager class figure and these two- well-established, well-known- got CORE figures. That is a bleeping cop out IMHO.

We'll find out soon enough I believe, if he's light on accessories, I'd like to hope he forms a complete van, but you know what they say about hope...

well im delighted with the core class ratchet cause it means we'll inevitably get a core class ironhide too.

been on a bit of a core class kick as i wanted to use em to populate my titan class bases and its been a bit lean on the bot side of things.

i mean ive got megs , screamer, soundwave and shockwave for the decep side of things . which is basically their entire g1 heavy hitter line up.

but for the bots its just prime as i didnt fancy that hot rod fig. so its nice to see he'll have ratchet and ironhide for company.

now to see a prowl wheeljack and grimlock down the road.

:D

i was shocked we got a core class iguanus. we neve got characters like him in ireland and the UK (They limited releases of some lines so skullgrin bomb burts and sub maurder made it, bugly iguanus and finback didnt . same happend on the bot side too)

though i gotta say if were getting pretender updates i'd prefer what were getting with deluxe skullgrin.

still its great to see "out there" characters get a go.

I like the Core Class A-Listers (Optimus, Hot Rod, Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, etc.) because they’re the right size to fit on my desk at work and not take up too much space. When I need a little break, I play with them, either posing them or transforming them back and forth. I got them all dabbing a while ago. That was a hit with my coworkers.

Other companies have proved a market for core class sized TFs so it makes sense Hasbro does them. Also in a day in age where there is so much to collect and maybe not much room to collect, the ikkle guys will always be neat.

I'm not sure on what is making Ironhide voyager until seeing the retail release (and even then probably not), maybe it's hasbro trying to claw back for selling a large (aka totally normal) Ironhide deluxe at deluxe price instead of a smaller deluxe :P It will be the alt mode that decides it for me if I need him though the recent picture does make the robot mode legs look a bit better.

Emerje

Siege and Earthrise Ironhide, yeah. I got the impression that this isn't much shorter, but I guess we'll find out soon.

I believe the current theory on the battle damaged parts is that they are for separate releases and won't come with the base version, because a damaged Ratchet chest plate would be the most logical damaged part, and PvP mentioned that the chest plate is pinned on. So at this point it looks like this is it.

(Info from TFW)

Very curious about these battle-damaged parts... It wouldn't take much to make a faux chest piece that snaps on to the original. Maybe molded cracks/holes with additional paint apps to emphasize the holes; maybe all of the damage created using paint.
Considering both characters were blasted in the chest area, it would really only require one piece per figure.
I know in the movie Ironhide had additional damage as he crawled/grabbed Megatron's leg, but I don't think that's necessary.
In fact, I'll still get these figures even if this rumor is completely false.

I won't get Core class Ratchet... But I'm thinking I'll end up displaying Core Megs, Soundwave, SS, and Skywarp (& hopefully Thundercracker eventually) with Legacy Menasor.

I'll spread this topic out a bit more... Here's some progress for my Planet of Junk diorama...

This is a bird's eye view of the base. This is definitely not done.
Image

Then here are sections that will be hanging down from the bottom of the front edge.
These are finished and ready to go.
Image

Tons of carving, lots of painting. Probably my most involved, detailed scene I've done so far.
Unfortunately, with taking a new teaching gig in a new district (which is an awesome move for me and my family), my summer break basically ended over week ago.
Meaning, this diorama is being put on the back burner of the back burner.

I'm not really trying to take this thread off topic... At some point I'll add a personal collection thread to that forum.

Thanks. There are quite a few details to add to that surface still.
In terms of figures, since I have Hot Rod and Kup in the Skarkticon Pit, this scene will have:
Wreck-gar and Springer fighting, with "Daniel" (SS86 Spike), Arcee, Perceptor, Magnus, and Blurr in the background watching, weapons drawn, but not firing since Springer is so close to W-g.
IF I end up with Junkheap, I'll have him fighting either Blurr or Perceptor, who will be back to back with Springer.

Either way, this is completely '86 movie inspired.

Why would there be? Kickback is in Legacy.

That's what I mean. Are the other two coming out in Legacy or SS? Hopefully not another Cyclonus situation.

Well, disappointingly, there's been no word. As yet. The day is young.

Meanwhile about an hour ago I just read some new leaked listing that had a deluxe Legacy EV Shrapnel coming. So the day was indeed still young.
