Their Powerglide and Seaspray figures are named Bomber and Hover (guess who's who) are about 8 cm tall (about 3 1/4 inches) and seem to come in a 2 pack sometime this year. It also looks like they are planing to produce more mini-bot like figures, since Bomber and Hover are stated to be in a series called "Minibottsu".
Their RTS G2 Optimus Prime trailer is called Tank and is going to be 28 cm long (around 11 inches) and is in their "upgrade" series.
But that's not all
But this is not all, they also reveal a blueprint-like sketch of another upcoming product, something called "Giant" from the series "Build", looks familiar doesn't it?

Also, These minibots look better than the ones we've got to see from iGear.

I swear someone said TFSource made that claim at Botcon.

Yeah, they said something like that. What actually happened is Fansproject offered the designer of Maketoy's to bring their prototypes to botcon. Then after some miscommunication with the TFsource table, they were said to be Fansproject's stuff.

I'm kinda peeved to see that another Devastator is being released without knowing which would be better between TF Club's and this one. (Better as in which one is bigger and/or cheaper, better posability etc.)
and with Hasbro releasing a classics version of Devastator... Nah I don't think so....
Posted by alldarker on June 23rd, 2011 @ 5:40am CDT
Evidently FansProject has faith in them too, if they offered to show the prototypes at Botcon. It all looks very promising! I wonder if they can actually pull off that Devastator, though...

But...G2 Prime looks FRICKIN AWESOMEEEE !!!! Too bad I hate the original mould or not I would be all over the 3rd party add-on trailer :O...

The rest are VERY G1 aren't they? Kind of a middle-ground between 1980's G1 and the Classics. Bomber and Hover are very nice looking. I would've gone for them if I didn't already have HFTD Seaspray and Universe Powerglide, but I'm very much looking forward to other Minibots if they do indeed intend to make a series of them like these.
HUMBLE REQUEST TO MAKETOY: Please do a Bumblebee and Cliffjumper, and maybe include weaponry. Please...
As for Giant? Balls! As if there wasn't enough controversy over TFClub's version. This will add fuel to the fire. If Bomber and Hover's size is an indication of MakeToy's desire to be G1 size accurate then this will undoubtedly be smaller than TFClub's. But even a passing association with FansProject should mean quality is high. This WILL be interesting.

I like Tank. It makes me glad I got Optimus Minor. That diminutive thing didn't impress me much, but this upgrade kit may make him great.
As for the not-Devy ...

Basically, I agree with Onyx.
If they make it cheaper, they will find an audience, if not, people have already begun to buy into the other Devastator. I'm not gonna buy 1/2 of one then switch to the other.

It doesn't have to be as large as the TFC combiner. It could even be G1 size, as long as it's fully articulated and looks good.

Another Devy, woooooo....... now I will have to hold everything back. There are too many choices now and I can only afford one, the re-issue, the Energon one, the TFC one (which is totally not affordable for me), the potential FP Crossover 3, the Hasbro secret classics.......

kawaii!!!
But seriously the G2 Prime is seeeeeeeeeeeexy. Just gotta wait for a nemesis version

How small were the minibots at Botcon? Just judging from the photos makes these guys seem about Legends class. Maybe scout?

I really have no idea. Unless they are going to show up in Prime, with a toy to match later down the road, I find it hard to believe they will do a second classics Devy. I'm about as hardcore G1 fan as you will find, yet I am getting a little tired of seeing all these '84 '85 '86 bots and cons. How about some later figs? Where's the Throttlebots? Those guys need updating BAD! And the Monsterbots? Hello? Doublecross would freakin awesome!

And I looove that Laser Prime upgrade. I just want to let Hasbro know (if they read these boards) that I bought RTS Prime JUST because I saw the upgrade kit. No other reason.

I'm in the same boat, now I just have to track down one! That trailer turns RTS Prime into a total beast. The pics from Botcon looked great on the robot!

The Devy will need to be more than a sketch to get me to cancel my pre-order on TFC. I'd love to know it would be a CHEAPER option and ACTUALLY GET MADE but until we know that kind of info then TFC may be stupidly expensive but at least we have a better than 50% chance of it becoming plastic reality.
Posted by kirbenvost on June 23rd, 2011 @ 10:08am CDT
G2 Prime upgrade I really want but I don't really care for the base figure. I will get the upgrade if it ends up being color-scheme neutral as these pictures suggest, and hopefully HasTak will get to making a black repaint.
Devy, also definitely interested, but only if the price is right.

Dead Metal wrote:What's this talk about a Hasbro Classics Devastator?
Yeah, what's up with this? They already DID a Classic-verse Devastator and it was exactly what a new Classic-verse Devastator would be: a re-release of the Energon mold. Not that I don't like the dude, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm still utterly amazed we're getting Unicron.
As for MakeToy; very exciting. Their minibots seem to capture the original toys with modern engineering a bit better to me. The upgrade is crazy. I hope it pans out as good as the art. The build is an interesting one. It's hard to tell, but it seems to be aiming for the original toy more than TFC so we have a another dueling designs.

I agree with the comment of having the minibots a little closer to scout size (to work better with BB, CJ, &WC) and possible having actual fists but that's jut me being picky.
The trailer looks fantastic, FansProject good even. I'm not as excited about the 3rd mode with the BFG's but I appreciate the engineering that went into the mold allowing all of the pieces to be used in more than one way. Very cool.
And as for their Devy, I'll probably pick it up to. Unless, the TFC one turns out to have horrible QC issues I'll own both. After having zero Devastators in ones collection, what's wrong with having two??
Posted by craggy on June 23rd, 2011 @ 12:15pm CDT
Love the G2 Prime upgrade set, but with no G2 Prime's in sight, I guess I'll be passing on that. Could see me getting a Scourge repaint if one gets done by Hasbro (or maybe even a KO version. I never had Scourge, and as yet, have avoided all black Prime repaints).
Another Devastator isn't necessarily a bad thing. But I'm not in love with that wire-frame pic. Much more info needed before I even consider it.
I'd also like to second the calls for Bumblebee and Cliffjumper as part of the Minibottsu range as well as more later in the series upgrades. Headmaster/Targetmaster characters, I'd love a new Flywheels (although he sadly will still have no back-up until someone does a Trypticon) and the Throttlebots could use an upgrade too. Wouldn't mind seeing more Action Masters characters in actually Transforming versions.

Seaspray - Sold
G2 Prime Trailer - Sold
Devy - ....ahh...a little late to the party aren't we? Would have been so excited to see a different combiner. A Computron, or Leokaiser or Abominus.
I wonder if FP still have plans for Devastator for Crossfire 03, or if this one from Maketoy was it?

Flux Convoy wrote:I was hoping Powerglide would be a lighter grey with some blue eyes but these looks fantastic. I'll gladly give my money to these guys along with FansProject. Especially if the latter is backing them. I'm very excited to see what's going on with Giant. I'm leaning towards bowing out on the TFClub version. It's just a lot of money. It skirts the line of how much I'll pay to play in the third party sandbox. Besides, I trust FP with my money and for quality work. If they're backing these guys, I trust their judgement.
Do we know if FP are backing these guys though? Or were just offering to display their protos at Botcon for them?
Still, I expect if FP already knew about the Maketoy protos it probably means they're helping them out in some way.

From everything I've heard personally at Botcon and everything I've seen discussed, yes FansProject are behind them in some fashion. That's good enough for me to trust the quality of their stuff.

Maketoys stuff looks very nice. I prefer IGear's Seaspray proto though. I hate it when the 3rd parties compete, it is hard to compare products without both items in hand.
As far as the Devastator goes, the wireframe image looks impressive, very G1. But I am guessing by the time Maketoys can have some prototype images out, Dr Crank will be out, and Exgraver will be sold out, committing people to one or the other. I have preordered Exgraver already after a lot of back and forthing, which means I am pretty much committed to Hercules. My only hope is that the competition may drive down the cost of the Hercules components.

I'd like that too. Gears needs some love as well. You know what I want more than that? Wheelie. I've grown to like the design and character over the past couple years. I think it'd be really fun to have him with Classics or MP Grimlock to reenact movie stuff with.

Here's hoping that tanker trailer can be used for 1995 G-2 laser prime. because it'll be cool to stick all that tanker armor on the robot mode.
