First up, we have a slew of pictures of the upcoming Deluxe currently being referred to as "Junkion 2". We see a bunch of photos showing it off in bike mode and robot mode, giving us a good look at it's size, compared to the soon to be released Scraphook. There's even a couple of fun shots showing off the interchangeability EvoFusion gimmick associated with these new Junkion molds.
Next up is Transformers Animated Prowl, the Legacy subline's first foray into the Animated Universe. While there were some complaints about the highly stylized Prime Universe characters (Arcee, Bulkhead, Knock Out) getting a heavy makeover that took away a lot of the uniqueness of the Prime designs, it looks like a lot more of the Animated style has made it into Prowl's design. He shows off some very nice poseability as well.
What do you all think of these new figures? Tings have been fairly quiet on the official reveal front since the Deathsaurus final tally livestream, but here's to hoping we get some confirmation from Hasbro soon (and maybe a real name for the Junkion bike). Let us know what you think in the forums and stay tuned to Seibertron for the latest news, rumors and reveals!

I like that Junkion bike though

Legacy Animated Prowl is NOT a success to me. I get the G1-ified intent of the line -- Bulkhead & Knockout are good attempt in my book (though that doesn't mean Hasbro don't owe us fans a screen-accurate Deluxe Knockout figure!), Legacy Prime Arcee not so much (her redecos are great though) -- but this Legacy Animated Prowl's headsculpt and body proportion doesn't FEEL G1-ified enough to me, it doesn't "fit in" to my Generations G1 shelf any better than the TFA original.
I also don't need a Datsun Prowl & a bike Prowl on the same shelf. But it's hard for me to resist a motorcycle mold though. So if Hasbro come up a redeco, I'm in.

That was my initial reaction to the thighs as well, but the more I thought about it and looked back at shots from Animated, the more I realized that the chunky thighs flaring out actually kinda mimics the baggy tucked-in bike pants on his holographic driver/human avatar, and now I'm cool with it. I'm also waiting to fully judge the bike mode until we've seen it transformed correctly for certain, I find that hole in the side-view too suspect to believe that it's actually intended and the front view of the bike definitely looks to me like parts aren't aligned right, everything above the wheel/leg is angled wrong.Sabrblade wrote:Oof, those are some wide thighs on the meant-to-be lean ninja Prowl. Hmmm, yeah, it does look like a possibly intentional homage. That has a sense of fun to it, appropriate for Animated.
BUT, that ironically makes me want this even less now. Because mashing up Animated Prowl, G1 Prowl, and Animated Prowl's hologram driver/mustache man homage makes this 4 different things smished together that could instead get 4 different and deserved updates (not that we need another G1 Prowl toy immediately, unless it's SS'86 Shuttle-Death Prowl), so this is an even greater compromise, accurate to even fewer of its elements. That bugs the heck out of me, so as much as I've wanted official Animated update figures ever since the line ended, NO. If I encounter this case in store, any Junkion I could army build with would be an infinitely better use of the money that could theoretically go to Prowl. LOVE the long overdue mix'n'match gimmick.
But Legacy Prowl does look cheerful enough that I can practically hear him calling out to 3rd Party toymakers, telling them to start cranking out new, show-accurate toys of Animated characters, since Hasbro apparently can't within the parameters of the unified Legacy line. Guessing APC is most likely to respond, as they started doing show-accurate Prime characters long before Legacy Bulkhead, Arcee, and Knock-Out asked them to.
Of course, every official Airachnid toy has been begging for Night Countess since they hit the shelves.
I'm not bashing Hasbro by saying some of their toys are asking for it, since the whole point of the 3rd party market is to fill every nook and cranny that official product can't.

except for those eyes.
And I'm not a big fan of how they've included the handlebars in the "wings" - I could "buy into" a change where the handlebars could rotate and "compress" to rest on the shoulders a-la "missile launchers", but having them just "stick up with the wings" gives me thoughts of someone grabbing Prowl by those handlebars and judo-throw-suplexing him and/or some other martial-arts-bot (Drift came first to mind for some reason) vaulting off of them...

I'm among those who disliked the Prime Legacy remakes because they strayed too far from the source material. I'm cautiously optimistic about the TFA remakes though.

Not the biggest fan of Animated in the world. But the Prowl face looks off, even to me. The rest looks good for a Bike Bot.

As for "Animated" Prowl, the only major letdown is the absence of the samurai armor/sidecar. His face reminds me more Smokescreen (G1) btw.

I do like the asymmetrical design of this second one, but still these are a really easy pass for me.
I think Animated Prowl looks really, really bad.
I had a pretty decent collection of Animated figures, and he was one I really enjoyed.
Although the cycle mode is alright, none of the bot mode works for me…
It just looks goofy, in a horrible way.
The face and head just look dumb…
If they weren’t going to keep any of the slender proportions of the torso and limbs similar to the original, why do any sort of elongating of the face and head??
This probably could be substantially different for me if they would’ve made a head/face that was much closer to a G1 style.
This guy just looks like a bozo.

I will say, I'd hoped the combined torso would be bigger, cause as of right now Volcanicus won't even hit taller deluxe/small voyager height, only average deluxe height. Oh well though, so far I'm liking how he's turning out

I'm not interested in Dinoking, and I have the POTP Volcanicus team already, so this Core team is a hard pass. But, why Hasbro? It's like you're begging KO companies to upscale these... don't make it easy for them.

I guess Hasbro has more faith in a Core class Volcanicus being a success (since it's still the G1 Dinobots in some form) than they have in a Core class Monstructor or Dinoking, and so are using Volcanicus to test the waters to see if it would be successful enough to warrent a Monstructor and/or Dinoking happening later.cloudballoon wrote:Sentinel_Primal wrote:I will say, I'd hoped the combined torso would be bigger, cause as of right now Volcanicus won't even hit taller deluxe/small voyager height, only average deluxe height. I don't think they are testing waters, that Dinoking or Monstructor (whichever) will be happening. Probably as a boxset through fan channels. The core class is just to give parents a cheaper option on shelves for known characters, that's why the put Dinobots there. The combining gimmick is just an extra collect them all aspect at that level for kids/parents. Where we (the fans) come in is with the redecos that will emerge in fan channels.

The core class is to counter KOs, giving parents a cheap options for transformers while other classes become prohibitive for on the spur moment purchases. Same logic behind having those authentics figures in budget stores.

chuckdawg1999 wrote:Finishing up the Wave 01 Core Class figures from Legacy Evolution we have Soundblaster and Sludge. Soundblaster looks great but is a bit looser in some areas than Soundwave and really doesn't offer anything new. Sludge is much better in hand than stock photos have made it look, but you still have to get used to how the figure works below the waist. Once you understand all that Sludge has to do, forming the torso and upper legs of Volcanicus, you start to appreciate the figure more. Overall, both figures are fine but I would pick up Sludge first just to have the next piece of the Volcanicus puzzle.
chuckdawg1999 wrote:This is an interesting way to start the Evolution of Legacy. Slug, more commonly known as Slag to long-time fans, is a really fun figure. I think there is a collector use case, which is a budget-friendly counter to 3P Legends scale. These mostly aren't as nice as the old Legends, but I like a smaller scale and simpler transformation set of G1 guys. I'm hopeful to have a good season 1/2 cast to have alongside the Ark even if it's not really to scale, because it should still be passable in a certain kind of display.

The reason I didn't really consider the whole 3p thing as a huge factor was the lack of scale. But I assumed that 3p did things to scale at that class size, do they? Like, is Grimlock bigger than Prime and Prime bigger than Prowl and Prowl bigger than BB, ect?

I still think it's more of an appeal to parents buying for kids (or kids on a budget) and any collector appeal is a happy accident (as Bob Ross would say).

Pointblank got lots of flack for being severely flawed. The fact that it could have been a voyager to be "complete", but was trimmed down to a deluxe didn't help. Lack of spoiler shield, barebone targetmaster, no panels to cover the back of the legs, limited articulations, lack of painted details, and so on.
By itself, it's not a bad toy. But it could have been much, much more.
Oh well, I'll just have to buy the upgrade kits. I already started with the legs panels. All that remain is the spoiler shield at the very least.

Just 1.
Although I don’t think this means anything in terms of improving distribution…
I went to a Target that I normally don’t go to and it literally had 5 different TF’s on all pegs and shelves, 7 TOTAL:
1 SS86 Kup
1 SS86 SS
1 Cyberverse Snarl
1 Cyberverse Wheeljack (1 step changer?)
3 Cyberverse 3 pks of OP, Bee, and Cheetor
And yes, I checked end caps, looked for extra aisles of clearance toys…
Just so pathetic…

Target is starting to do their clearance and reset of the whole toy section. This is basically the worst time of year to expect something, but may be turned around quite quickly once each store resets. Its just a guessing game on what that will be for your particular store.
Also being down to 1 SS86 Kup is a good thing, that was one of the more consistent peg warmers. My store still has 4.

My proposition is to give us a G1 Landfill as a double targetmaster, to go with Scoop from T30 as a Targetmaster. Obviously a Quickmix would be needed to, but he is not essential to what I am about to propose. A new Scoop also wouldn't be a terrible idea either, to be discussed again below.
Now, once we have Landfill, we need a G2 repaint with a new head as Dirtbag, to go with the Adventure Roadblock that was repainted from Scoop. Alternatively, if a new Scoop was done too, they could design him to be reversed at the torso to have the proper Roadblock chest and also allow him to have the proper head design.
Both Landfill and a reversed Scoop torso would be accurate to the G2 designs. Thus, we could get 2/3 of the Autobot double targetmasters, and we could get the 2 G2 Autorollers out of the deal too.
And there would be further alternative repaint options, chief among them giving us a new Autocrusher and Autostinger to go with the Beast wars II figures coming out lately, which might also lead to new figures of Autojetter and Autolauncher and thus repaints of them as the unreleased G2 versions of those 2 characters. And then there is also the G2 General Optimus and Sargent Hound as well.
In short, lots of fun!

I'm not sure what the OP was, but in my area, Target at least had some Legacy Wave 2, and the most recent SS. They have also cleared most inventory out for a new years reset. Whereas Walmart never got anything beyond Legacy Wave 1, and the Beast Wave. Also tons of Velocitron deluxes, and SSBB Arcee/Ironhide clogging up pegs. Even at clearance prices they aren't moving hardly at all. Not a good look for Walmart to be full of old product.

But along comes needlenose- a character I like and do what in my collection- and I think he looks great. Yes a simple figure, but the robot mode is much nicer than pointblanks. And the jet mode has undercarriage but so does every other jetformer ever lol. The targetmasters are static figures but I honestly prefer those over the giant bulky gun bots from siege. The gun modes were prioritized and im happy about that

More proof that PB should have been a voyager.
And yet they doubledowned with Needlenose. They had four options with Pointblank: 1) Scrap the whole thing, 2) cut it down and release an inferior version of what they started with, 3) Start over and try again from scratch, 4) Go all in and build it up to a Voyager class. IMO they went with the second worst option.
