While it is a Takara exclusive product, so designed by Takara and meant for distribution in Japan, it is being imported for western fans. It is already sold out on Hasbro Pulse, where it was first revealed, but it is still available on Bigbadtoystore where you can get it for $61.99 USD https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/ ... 241551?o=1
Let us know what you think about this new toy and if you would add it to your collection.

If customs can be avoided, it will be worth it.

Na, it's weird but Hasbro has revealed their import of this toy before Japan revealed it themselves.

Looks very nice. If it's anything like Takara's upscaled Evasion Mode (Legendary) Prime he should be a real nice toy to handle.

As I look at the pictures, it's clear it's just the oversized voyager, hollows in the same place, tiny gorilla head, and floppy butt-flap.
So I guess this one will be an easy pass.

Yeah, that's exactly what it is. And oversized voyager for kids. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but it's funny how on social media and other websites, fans are clamoring for it saying it's better than what Hasbro is providing in the SS line. It's different, but is it better? Would this toy still be praised if it was released in the mainline with all the other kid toys instead of the Takara exclusive fanfare? Or would it be labelled as a big gimmicky toy of no consequence?

I'm sure those who praise the thing as "better" missed the memo that it's an OVERSIED version of that voyager, not a "Takara premium paintjob" of yesteryears.
If it would have come out everywhere for the standard leader price, I would have considered it. But paying more? Nope.
Beside, I have a few too many preorders on my plate already.

Well, I indulged in that bias by ordering the trio of Henkei Seekers from Mandarake. At around 60$CAN shipped each, it's painful, but I just wanted to have a taste of that "superiority" for once.

Are we seeing the same thing? Am I missing something?
What hollowness do you see?
Its entirely different to the Voyager we have from the main line, and we have not yet seen the Studio Series Leader class version I don't think, and it has a ton of features the main line primal doesn't have including articulated hands and forearm guns.
I don't see SS having launchable missiles either.
Last time Takara did their own version of a toy, it was great upgrade. That Legendary Prime is in fact a fantastic figure, leagues better than the original Evasion mode Prime.

The only things that are different are the articulated hands and other little details. It have the same hinges in the same place, the same proportions, the same everything.
Down to the hollowness of the hands as seen here and mos likely behind the ape feet if those were properly transformed and if we'd see the back.
Have a look:

Granted, it IS a new mold, but like that Hero Optimus or those old Optimus and Predaking "Cyberverse Commanders" boosted to enormous "voyagers". I don't see how much more...

they really did nail the design for movie Primal. He might have one of the best movie designs period, across all movies.
Speaking of Primal, my big electronic one arrived, and I got the smaller $10 Prime and Bee. All 3 are neat.
i adore Prime and Bee with Mirage, all 3 are pretty good and pretty fun $10 toys. I got exactly what I expected and wanted for the price, and I am very happy with them, Alt modes rock too.
Big Primal is also just a really fun toy. It really entertains me. I am glad to have an auto-transforming toy, just once for my collection. And he is fun to mess around with, and for my dogs to react to.

Sorry for the background noise, but I am very amused by Primal responding to Mountain Monsters
Posted by -Kanrabat- on May 31st, 2023 @ 8:26pm CDT

I'd like it but he cost almost as much as a freaking TITAN so unless the thing pop up at my local geek store who can accept my random rejects as store credits, I'll have to pass on that big electronic Primal.

So I'm sure I'm one of the select few that CAN care less for this movie and toy line. I wish it was 2 month's from now so this line whittles off the shelves.

I found it hilarious at a local Target the endcap for this line was but in the back isle instead of the main isle. Instead they put Jurassic Park Anniversary on the endcap main isle. Is it a mistake? We'll see in the coming days.

With his custom tanker that I made, it works perfectly.

And it works even more to take down that pesky Optimus Prime!

Simple, effective, no tiny bits to struggle with, just pure fun.

And when I hear Ultimate (class) I think of something like TF Prime Beast Hunters Ultimate class Beast Fire Predaking. Definitely a gimmick toy.
Here's a list of all of the Ultimate (/Supreme) class figures there've been so far:
http://www.transformers-universe.com/in ... gebnis.php (just set "Class" to "Ultimate (Supreme")
The closest ones to Leader class are DotM Optimus Prime and maybe BM Air Attack Optimus Primal.

Lunatic Prime wrote:Why would anybody expect an Ultimate class figure to be a good Leader class one? I mean on the one hand why wouldn't they just call it Leader class if it is one and on the other hand we will be getting a Studio Series Leader class figure of RotB Optimus Primal this year. So it doesn't make sense to release two. It's very likely that it'll even be revealed next Tuesday.

We are pretty far from the Beast Wars cartoon.

The MP release begs to differ. Takara really did an impressive job recreating the sleek and curvy shape of both modes but cramming in everything they could to make both modes appear as accurate as possible. And man, they really go all out with that transformation, having the back rotate 180, and having the back of the robot shins become the beast thighs. Plus providing the proper functioning so that he can be both bipedal and walk on all 4s in beast mode.
We've seen other pretty cool transformations for Primal, like some of the Beast Machines toys and the 10th anniversary one that's a completely new mold and look. Optimus Primal can be as simple or as complex as they want him to be, just like Optimus Prime.
-Kanrabat- wrote:Especially the ROTB one, where the bot and beast are almost identical to each-other.

While my post above was for Primal in general, yes the ROTB one is tougher to add complexity since his on screen transformation is just building on top of the gorilla. Like him turning inside out in a way:
BUT Still, the toys we've gotten themselves show that complexity can vary. The Weaponizer goes with the complete chest inside out flip, like this Ultimate one, while the voyager has a superposition approach. So instead of 1 piece moving, you have 3 (tripling the complexity for that step right there).
The feet are another good way to assess where steps are being cut. For the weapinizer, it's just rotating them, but for the voyager you have the robot feet completely dissapearing in robot mode, folding into the gorilla shins. This ultimate toy doesn't have that and instead just has you flip the robot feet present in beast mode and you just flip them down for robot mode.
We'll get a leader class studio series one as well and I do expect it to be more complex than either of the ones we've gotten thus far.

there are some screws and pins. These come somewhat assembled, like 3 torso portions, 4 parts per limb, etc. They are 10 minute kits to assembled, but that helps with how solid they are, no small parts to just fly away

I was curious too and went for it. $50 CAD shipped didn't seem bad.
And yes, they come partly assembled

And while they do look good, they are indeed model kits and not full blown action figures. So the plastic feels light, and the figure is very gappy. You don't see it in the images, but it's full of holes everywhere.

Thanks, guys! That's very intriguing. I got a good sense of the gaps in some of D-Max's other pics, I can see that Primal's legs can be looked through from the side and that doesn't bother me. Maybe I'll grab Primal if BBTS takes pre-orders again.

How do you deal with Primal's collar piece? Mine keeps getting undone whenever I articulate his head.
Also, I built this with my kids and we all found it funny that while a lot of it is done, one part that needs to be affixed is his butt.

No idea, if Bee came with his mask and twin arm cannons, I would be completely content and not tempted by the ThreeZero one.
As for Prime, I would actually get him if he came with his gun, sword, and axe.
As for Primal, this guy just looks so good

Now, this is all heresy since I can't confirm anything, so take out the big bottle of Himalayan sea salt, Target apparently is pulling listings for the Core line. Now they're saying the figures will be released later in the year under a "Kid Friendly" Studio Series line.
