ACTIVISION PUBLISHING, INC. ROLLS OUT PRE-ORDER BONUSES FOR PLATINUMGAMES’ TRANSFORMERS: DEVASTATION
SANTA MONICA, Calif. – Sept. 2, 2015 – Today Activision Publishing, Inc. revealed new in-game DLC it is offering for those who pre-order TRANSFORMERS: Devastation, its upcoming third-person brawler from acclaimed action developer PlatinumGames Inc. All retail and digital pre-orders of TRANSFORMERS: Devastation will receive the following three character skins: NEMESIS PRIME, RED ALERT and GOLDFIRE.
Players will also receive three powerful weapons with their pre-order:
- The Dark Star Saber, a fearsome sword which radiates waves of dark energy with every swing.
- The Photon Disruptor cannon for huge damage at short range.
- The twin Golden Hunter blaster pistols, which cause enemies to drop credits when attacked.
Activision also released a new behind-the-scenes video with the legendary voice of OPTIMUS PRIME, Peter Cullen. TRANSFORMERS: Devastation brings a new energy to Hasbro’s iconic Generations characters, but for Cullen, honoring the qualities that have made OPTIMUS PRIME a hero for audiences for over 30 years is still at the core of this new experience.
TRANSFORMERS: Devastation combines PlatinumGames’ magnetic brand of fast-paced gameplay with beautiful 3D cel-shading for one gripping adventure. Five playable AUTOBOT heroes - OPTIMUS PRIME, BUMBLEBEE, SIDESWIPE, WHEELJACK and GRIMLOCK – will battle MEGATRON and the vile DECEPTICONS in an original story from veteran TRANSFORMERS comic book writer Andy Schmidt.
TRANSFORMERS: Devastation is scheduled to launch on Oct. 6 on the PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment systems, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Windows PC via Steam. Pre-orders for the game are already available at many major retailers and on the PlayStation®Store; Xbox Games Store pre-orders are expected to open in early September. I'm gonna buy it day one for sure, but I just wanna make sure I get it in the right place to get the best value for my cash.
The Amazon.co.uk and GAME.co.uk listings don't say anything about a preorder bonus.
I wonder if the Nemesis, Goldbug & Red Alert pack will actually make it to europe.

Peter Cullen feels that all Optimus Primes he voices embody the same principles, including the movie version, even though he has objected a few times to having to say certain lines in the movies (i.e. - "We will kill them all." "I'll kill you!" "Autobots, I have sworn to never kill humans. But when I find out who’s behind this, he’s going to die!"). To Peter Cullen, his Optimus Prime has never changed between the 1980's and today's media.MegaDump wrote:Translation: "I'm glad to be voicing an Optimus Prime whose personality is more in-line with the original character, possessing the values that made him such an inspiration to generations of fans rather than the morally ambiguous death-machine seen in the movies."

Peter Cullen is a good man and a great voice actor. I feel he would object to anything he felt was outside the Optimus Prime he knows in his heart. And what Sabr said proves it

You're reaching with that comment... So far we've seen battles against Megatron, Motormaster the Seekers and Devastator all of which have been in that cheap lifeless city. The only other location that I've seen has been wherever the cassettes and insecticons were fighting which doesn't look much better.
This is a $60 game, the same asking price as Metal Gear Phantom Pain! And since this game releases in a little over a month, so I don't think I'm off base when asking for a little more than 2 lackluster maps if there's actually even more scenery in this game.

First of all I tell everyone to shadup, cuz that's my joking style, so shadup.
Second, that's what they said in an interview. As long as it's not just "go defeat the bad guys" and nothing else, I'm okay with it. If it's more story based, it's okay to me if most of the backgrounds are similar.

It could be a 'demonstration level' or a level where you test the various aspects of the game. You create a 'standard' level and then use it to test for collision, transformation, animations, attacks, and various other mechanics. They probably have an executable made with just that level ready to go, which makes it pretty convenient for video capture.
Don't get me wrong, I noticed it, and thought it was kinda off-putting too, but I know there are a multitude of reasons for this. I think if the city weren't cel-shaded, it wouldn't be as noticable, as it does look like they used some fairly lazy textures on it, but again, it's probably a test level, that may show up in the game.
I agree, it still doesn't look like it's worth the asking price; nor does it look like it'll be very good as a hack'n'slash game either. If it comes down to it, I'd sooner buy more dlc for Dynasty Warriors 8 XL

They've shown a city, a city at night, a city at night in the rain, a bridge, a river section under a bridge, a tunnel, 2 or 3 Cybertronian locations, and it looks like the Starscream fight takes place inside of a space bridge while it's warping.

You understand that's only one map, right? Day/Night cycles and weather effects are old techniques, they were mastered with Ocarina of Time in '97. Free-roam games will include them standard. If they are treated as separate maps, well that's just lazy copy/pasting.

Again, probably one map. Might even be part of the City map.

Which would make it a Boss Arena and not a proper map.

I never said it was. Have you ever played games before? Levels aren't restricted to one tiny area, they can move across other sections of land. Try playing Half-Life 2 and mark the length between loading screens, that's what I'm talking about.

War For Cybertron is the best TF game to date but then you have to take into account that HighMoon was doing their own thing back then. Once activision sank their claws into HighMoon things were never the same. Fall of Cybertron had a cool Story mode but the online content was paltry at best. Tieger tried all he could but you can tell some other greedy jack@ss was calling the shots.
Rise of the Dark Spark is more proof of Activision taking what had great potential and making it a cheap movie cash grab.
Thus the reason I'm wary but if this game proves to be better than what I've seen then I suppose we all win.

That's a matter of opinion. And one I don't agree with.YoungPrime wrote:War For Cybertron is the best TF game to date
But I do agree with what you said about price. If it's gonna be a high-cost game, like $60, it better not take any production shortcuts. Though it's been a while since I played an Activision game. (Is Deadpool an Activision game?) I'm pleasantly surprised, however, to see this come out on PS3. I thought I would finally have to pony up the dough for a PS4 just to get this game.

I should not be beating devastator on my first try without even taking serious damage. And story? Even in the level, giving exceptions to incomplete levels, I saw nothing about story.

I would assume that would be an earlier build, but SDCC was only a month ago and they couldn't have made that much headway since then. And if that's the build they decided to release as a public display...yeesh. It sounds like the Legend of Korra game all over again, but at $60.

So it plays the way it looks....
This could've easily been part 3 to the WFC series but instead they went cheap using the G1 theme as an excuse for a button mashing cash grab that's clearly half the budget of anything desirable.
Hate to say I told yall so!
Posted by Sabrblade on September 5th, 2015 @ 7:41pm CDT
Talking of the idea of doing a threequel to WFC I honestly don't know what story could be done for such a game that the general public would want to play. The official storyline that WFC and FOC were based on does continue after the Ark and Nemesis leave Cybertron (whcih we saw at the end of FOC), but the continuing story shifts the setting into outer space, with the Ark first going to Velocitron, then to Junkion, then to Aquatron, and then to who knows where else. Taking the story away from Cybertron kinda negates the whole "blank blank Cybertron" thing the first two titles had going for them. Sure, there were still some activities happening on Cybertron during that time, but with nearly all the major characters off-planet at the time, I'm not too sure if the general public would really want to play a Transformers game that didn't have Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Bumblebee, Jazz, Ironhide, Soundwave, Ratchet, etc. in it. The only characters that could be put into this game would be the likes of Shockwave, Alpha Trion, the Wreckers, the Constructicons, the Combaticons, Omega Supreme, the Dinobots, the Sharkticons (they attack Cybertron at one point), and Prime Smokescreen (since he was with Alpha Trion when the Hall of Records was finally taken).YoungPrime wrote:This could've easily been part 3 to the WFC series but instead they went cheap using the G1 theme as an excuse for a button mashing cash grab that's clearly half the budget of anything desirable.

First off, telling people to shut up when they don't agree with you: Cute!
Just to nitpick here...he didn't actually use the words....shut up! he used one word.....shadup!(granted it's meaning could be the same).
Spelling the term differently does not change the fact that it's the same term.Stuartmaximus wrote:& secondly....he wasn't telling PEOPLE(plural), he was telling YOU! A person(singular).
No, he wasn't. Try paying attention.
Ok....it was YoungPrime, you got me on that one, but still not on the fact that he was addressing ONE person! not many.
You should read before you type!

Second, that's what they said in an interview. As long as it's not just "go defeat the bad guys" and nothing else, I'm okay with it. If it's more story based, it's okay to me if most of the backgrounds are similar.
You're welcome....

Not mine. $15 isn't all that much. And I know what you're thinking "But the game is $50!" Yeah, yeah it is, and I'm not buying it until it's marked down to $15 at most.
