Takara Tomy has posted official images of these new exclusive Transformers on their website. Below you will see images of all the modes for LG EX Legends Greatshot and Grand Maximus and images of their Headmasters. We can see that Greatshot has a fair bit of retooling, like his shoulders and beast mode head.

Also, as it is now known, Grand Maximus is not guaranteed to come out. It is stated that 2000 pre-orders need to be through Takara Tomy Mall for this toy be produced. If 3000 are ordered, he will also come with a Pretender suit (which is a Power Master Decoy suit), which can be seen below as well.

Man, I guess that shade of green on Grand Maximus is REALLY hard to photograph right. In some shots it looks almost black or very dark grey:

But in others, it's a much softer green:

That's the same plastic

Crap. If it's through Takara Tomy Mall, does that mean the 2000+ preorders MUST come from Japanese buyers?

The yellow paint on the sides is animation accurate in robot mode, so it's fine with me. As a bonus, it's also a toy accurate detail as well. Yes, this does create inaccurate yellow panels on the sides of the alternate mode, but I can let those slide. They don't look bad to me, honestly.

I'm assuming some of the big online retailers/importers have a way to get around this. I'm not too concerned about 2,000 orders happening.

Hope you're right about that. These are two imports I really want, but didn't think were going to be happening.

I hope so. I really want that GreatShot, and depending on expected release, I am considering that Maximus too.

At the very least, I haven't seen any such stipulation for Greatshot. He seems firmly in the 'definitely happening' camp.

And, man, while I still want Sixshot more... that is one hell of a good rendition of Greatshot. Someone put a lot of heart into that retool!

The fact that the previous legends reissues did not pass the treshold asked for tells me that its just TTMall. If there was a way to get around it through other retailers, then there would be enough demand for nothing to have been cancelled, which wasnt the case.

Yeah! It's all they needed to do - considering it's all the original did - but it still feels like they went above and beyond :)

It really is all they needed to do! But they did it in the way that I've said makes these things even better: they did the retooling in the right areas, and the colors just smash it home.

Great shot: definite. and then I will have all 3 generations 6 changers!!!! Though he definitely looks the best :-D

I really find myself wanting both of these, although i might only be able to pull off Greatshot. Takara really seems to be churning out the Masterforce characters, wonder if that helps Piranacon's chances of coming out.

Same here. This would have been so easy for Hasbro to do, instead of Quickswitch, but I guess the fact that QS wasn't changed at all (save for the Titan Master) made it an easier/lazy release. I would have been perfectly happy with just Six & Great, since originally QS was a completely different toy, but having all 3 (even though the middle kid isn't a true representation), will be nice.

If Hasbro releases a PotP Piranacon, I cant see TT NOT doing a King Poseidon (though they will likely have to develop their own Nautilator/Lobclaw since habro seems content on only doing 5 member combiners, even in their box sets, unless Hasbro makes Nautilator legends class...which makes me conflicted...

God I hope you're wrong.

To the extent that most people who wanted a Generations Metroplex had already gotten one, I don't think comparing the cancellation of reissues to two new releases is fair.

God... I really hope you're wrong on this one, Will.

Actually, I think Piranacon would fit Hasbro's Combiner Style perfectly. Nautilator, Snaptrap, Skalor, Tentakill, and Seawing can form Piranacon while Overbite transforms into his gun.

Nautilator needs to be a deluxe sized combiner piece. You can have Overbite be Legends class as a gun.

Which by the way, I can totally see them retooling the Abominus guys into the Seacons.

Hun-Grr->SnapTrap
Sinnertwin->Overbite
Blot->Tentakill
Cutthroat->Seawing
Rippersnapper->Skalor
Nautilator-> Maybe also Sinnertwin, though it would need extensive retooling.

I fully expect Cutthroat to end up as Wildfly (they already slipped up on revealing this through the headsculpt on the sample vs the CAD render), with Rippersnapper or Blot (or a mix of their parts) as Scowl/Icepick and some retooled Dinobot for Bristleback and goodness knows what else as the torso to form Monstructor.

That Greatshot looks really good. I don't have any version of the Sixshot mold yet so I will definitely go for this version if it's easy enough to get by. After all, I really do prefer to collect Autobots and that Quickswitch deco didn't score any points with me. Do we have any release date for this figure? :-?

Thanks! If I remember correctly, the upcoming God Ginrai set with Minerva and Cab was also a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive and I was able to order it from a another site. Hopefully I will be able to do the same with Greatshot :)

Once again, I'm going to stick up for Titans Return Quickswitch. Yes, Hasbro could have done more remolding, but he at least has his own face, which is the most important part of any character's appearance. The paint job, though, really sells it. In hand, Quickswitch is gorgeous, and there are tons of little alterations you can make to the transformations, especially in robot mode, to make Quickswitch look more like his G1 toy self and less like a simple Sixshot redeco. That said, Greatshot looks GORGEOUS, and I hope Takara eventually gives us Sixknight too.

The Fans Project version is SO much better, plus you can use fan-modes to make it look even closer to the G1 toy. They even have his "brother", and both can be found pretty cheap, too. Normally, I wouldn't promote FP molds these days, but they are light-years in front of the recoloured Hasblo version:

- https://tfsource.com/fansproject/madlaw/

- https://tfsource.com/fansproject/knight/

I have seen both going for around 40 dollars in sales at various sites, but 70 dollars isn't so bad. Both are a steal.

He is probably referring to all the other Legends figures in this thread that we newsed at the same time, like Seaspray and company.

And there are tons of reasons to buy Hasbro figures. Cheaper cost for one, but also you get more for what you pay, even if you are in Japan by comparison. For instance, while the Hasbro version of Topspin and Twintwist do not come with the targetmasters, their price point is about 10$ less AND you get exclusive titan master compatible guns that Takara will never get. Also, Takara sells things together in this line so the sale model is not very comparable. Lets say you already have the Hasbro Lione then you are stuck paying for him again when you buy Legends Seaspray.

So with hasbro you are given the option to buy just what you want in your collection instead of feeling compelled to buy one figure just because it comes with something else you want.

That is besids the point that takara can easily cost you double the cost of a hasbro figure depending on where you are located.
Case in point, Hasbro Kup cost me $13 while Takara Kup would cost me $40 (maybe even more).

And while we're on Top Spin and Twin Twist, it's worth noting that a lot of Takara versions have little to no worthwhile differences to the Hasbro versions beyond other figures/accessories they're packed with. Top Spin, Twin Twist, Seaspray, Brawn, Broadside, Windblade, Triggerhappy... and then you've got some of the early line stuff where they went for something that was neither outright superior or inferior, but just a different take on the character. Hardhead, Hot Rod, Brainstorm, etc.

What other first run exclusives didn't pass the threshold? The reissues didn't pass because there wasn't enough interest, but with brand new characters unavailable previously, I doubt that would be the case here.

I read that about the sales and that might be true. I also wouldn't normally recommend Fans Project stuff. However, compared to the Hasbro offering, it's SO much better, especially if you can get it cheaply. If you look around, you might find either of them for around 40 dollars, which is a worth it.

If you're not interested in any third party figures, and you want these characters, you're going to have to pucker up and (ironically) part MORE for them (including a version that isn't really that true to the original toy).

That said, I'm not going to pursue this in this forum, as it is about these official figures. However, people have got fairly cheap(er) options right now, so there's less reason to moan!

Better example : with Takara's version of Kup, you don't get the guns which can form his jetpack.

Well, these are Takara exclusives that Hasbro has never done, so you can just buy these without guilt!

That's how I feel myself. I buy official TFs from both Amazon Japan and other sites, and American ones from BBTS/Sirtoys. I might even buy the American versions of Twintwist and Topspin just for the guns for my Takara versions (and keep the targetmasters septate, which is a huge waste from both perspectives). However, with regards to some figures, the opposite is true, such as with Hasbro popping certain characters, like Quickswitch, in 100 dollar boxes sets...

Not sure it is the best example. Takara Kup is, in my opinion, so much better. Although I agree that some Takara version are not always worth the extra bucks, some do. Takara Kup has a much more accurate deco to the cartoon, as well as a different head all together. Even though he doesn't come with the jetpack forming guns, he has a cool targetmaster he ended up being partnered with in the 4th season of the american show. The show deco and head plus the targetmaster was well worth a few more bucks.

Ironically, it's Madlaw and Sixknight that encouraged me to get the Takara Greatshot over the Clonedroid version, as I THINK (not sure) the Clobedroid and Hexatron versions are bigger than the TR Greatshot/Sixshot. My order at Sirtoys had a hiccup and they were removed, so I'm probably just going to get the Clonedroid Blackshot instead. Once I get the official Greatshot, I want to post a group shot (no pun intended), of all four "shots", sotospeak, together.

WJ88, I understand where you're coming from, but Kup is perhaps the WORST example you could have used here. Takara Legends Kup is hands down superior to Hasbro's release in almost every way. Yes, it lacks Hasbro's combinable guns for a Titan Master to sit in, but it instead has his classic Titanmaster partner, an all new sculpt Takara made that Hasbro might never release. On top of that, Takara's Kup has a much better head sculpt, retooled shoulders and lower arms, and a color scheme and paint job that makes it look like their version just walked out of the G1 cartoon and onto our display shelves. Legends Kup is worth paying almost triple what it would cost for Hasbro's offering. Honestly, the difference is about as apparent as Titans Return Blurr versus Legends Blurr. You know which one everyone really wants.
