Unless Chromia does turn out to be Combiner Wars compatible, she's a hard pass. The Thrilling 30/TF Legends version is far superior. I don't need another member of Alpha Trion's Angels with the same body type either. Moonracer and Firestar are sufficient for that mold.
Hound looks VERY interesting. I'm digging that his alt mode pretty much looks like his old G1 jeep alt mode with a roof. It can easily pass as a mildly stylized Earth-based vehicle. His Universe 2008 mold still holds up quite well, though.
Ultra Magnus is a neat surprise, with his alt mode being decidedly Car Robots/RiD 2001 in style and using the original G1 "white Optimus Prime with armor pieces" gimmick. However, as I said a few pages back, I'm happy with the Combiner Wars mold, so this is also a pass.
All of the Battlemasters and Micromasters will be bought. No doubt about that. It's interesting to see that the Battlemasters won't strictly be "Targetmasters," but include melee weapons as well as guns.

If you’re still wanting a Moonracer you can find her on eBay and Amazon for around $20 shipped if you are patient and check for a few days (the price fluctuates a little). HTS has her in stock sometimes for $17 but you’d have to pay shipping if you don’t order more stuff.

I'm offended by that statement (j/k)...but I was hoping it read "Holi" as a little nod to the Japanese characters name.

Man, is every writing of Cybertronian on a figure going to get people paranoid that it's some coded message?

Trust me, with Hasbro's political leaning (as with all companies these days) they're not going to get a repeat of the MAGA Jazz any time soon. That one slipped under their radar and I bet the execs and important people are still kicking themselves in the balls that one of their figure had an endorsement for Donald Trump.
I'm pretty sure they now got people whose sole job is to doublecheck this shit rather than risk endorsing Trump by accident. The only reason this controversy got swept under the rug and didn't cost a shitton of $$$ for Hasbro is that compared to comics, movies or TV show the toys generate way less buzz in social media.

Everything else looks pretty cool, though. And that's coming from someone that would prefer Transformers don't come with weapons. Those firing effects are going DIRECTLY into a ziplock bag.

Sabrblade wrote:So, uh... What's Magnus doing with an Earthen altmode while everyone else gets Cybertronian ones?
Everybody? He's about as Earthen as Optimus and Sideswipe (and most of the Micromasters). Chromia, Ironhide, and COG so far are the only ones that are truly Cybertronian looking.
Speaking of Magnus, I'm calling this now: 2021 retool in the third leg of War for Cybertron into RID 2001 Magnus for the 20th anniversary. I don't know exactly what that would look like, maybe scrap the inner white prime in favor of more parts to pair with a Leader RID Optimus with proper small bot and big bot forms and able to make Omega Prime. I don't think it's impossible.
Poor Chromia, once again a heavy retool of a figure from another Transformers line.
I hope Lionizer shares his mold with Catgut and that we may possibly get a Treadshot in the line (maybe a leader Shockwave retool, whatever he turns out like).

That's stupid as hell! But not surprising coming from Hasbro.
Yet they can keep the 5mm holes across all lines.
Well, back to my original plan, buy 2 more Moonracer's & make a custom Arcee & Chromia to go with Elita-1. I want another all female combiner.

Hound: I love the robot mode, but the vehicle mode is eh. i'd have to see it in person, or just get him at a discount
Chromia: Nice, but i'll pass, I have other priorities.
Cog: I have to get him for Fort Max and the whole "armouring up" thing
Micro Masters: I need every. single. one.
Ironhide: I like him.

There's one more deluxe fembot coming out. So hold on for that one. I already have 2 Moonracers and I'm waiting for that next girl to buy 2 of. Then I'll customise the doubles.

I'm conflicted on Ironhide. At first glance, I don't really like how tall the headsculpt is with the protruding crest (again, I'm a comics guy).
Sideswipe and Hound look excellent, and that Optimus looks like he could be THE Optimus my neo g1 collection has been waiting for. So far, I've been using the CW Prime, but this guy's proportions look so much better! I wonder how he'll look next to TR Megatron and PotP Grimlock.

And it looks like they still can, there's a clear division between the two halves and fake wheels in front of the treads on the rear half that forms the legs.
He breaks into a lot of little pieces, even just to change into his vehicle modes so he definitely can split up. Plus there's this picture where Sideswipe is wearing COG as armor.
The torso is a shield, his lower legs are being used like boots, and his upper legs and mid section connected to his back with the arms attached as guns over his shoulders. That's a lot of 5mm holes, I'm really looking forward to Sixgun now.
Oh, and I like what they're doing with the effect parts. Not so much the muzzle flashes, but the part that comes with Lionizer also being used on Sideswipe as exhaust flames.

Just in general. Unless they become part of the alt-mode, I just find them to be more of a nuisance than anything. Or some stupid gun sticking out of a car.

Nope. He's Cog who can split into Gasket and Grommet and split even further into weapons and armor pieces that can be used by just about anybody in this line, hence his being a Weaponizer.Adimus Prime wrote:Is COG the Apex Armor?

Interesting. I completely disagree with you, primarily because they're alien robots who have been fighting a war for millions of years, so to me they're expected to have weapons.
I'm not a fan of them being incorporated into the alt mode as more often than not it doesn't really work.
But hey, you are the first person to say that about weapons so I had to inquire.

Six-Gun was part of the same rumors that mentioned Cog before the officiall SDCC reveal, so he's likely coming. I just noticed that. While it's a bit of an eyesore, it's a small price to pay for a pretty good figure otherwise. And maybe there's a reason for the wheels being so far up. Maybe it was necessary to accommodate a possible combination with a future Optimus figure for a new Omega Prime. I would say it might be a slight mistransformation, but the stock photos have them the same way. So we'll see.Emerje wrote:If there's one thing I don't like about this line, it's Ultra Magnus' front wheels. Too far forward and too large of a gap behind them.

^My thoughts on this line.
Character-wise, I'm hyped for Cog and Ironhide, but everything else feels like a dead-end. Cog looks immensely fun, and I actually like the blocky look/alt-mode on Ironhide. But, yeah, that dead end... I have no attachment to the micromasters and doubt they'll release all the targetmasters needed to "complete" my TR figures. Especially with a slot already all-but wasted on an action master partner... I'll probably try at least one micromaster pair for sheer novelty. Who knows, maybe I'll start snapping them up for customs or scale play with Titans?
Optimus and the inner magnus look surprisingly nice, and I would get them if I didn't already have an even better Optimus and a classics Magnus. Much as I like the self-combining feature, I can't justify spending $50 on a replacement figure that is so inelegant and (to me) unappealing when compared with the CW one. I'm passing on almost every PotP leader, so clearly self-combining isn't essential for my collection.
The new visual direction is... interesting. It's like Beast Machines Megatron took over the design team. Chromia looks like some sort of spongy organ in vehicle mode, but is obviously trying to be as robotic as possible. I guess it's like bayformers, where there is so much small detail that larger design elements can get swallowed up... At least the "gritty" paint apps will make my early customs fit in The effect parts are pretty neat, but I'll never buy enough battle masters to use them well - especially if they only make 8 of them or something. Oh well?
Regarding the leaks for future figures, Six-Gun is a must-buy. I hope the deluxe-priced Prowl, Drift, Crankcase, and Barricade are for Siege, but highly doubt it. Crankcase from Hound, anyone? Zero interest in a leader Shockwave, sincerely hope that he and Jetfire are for Cyberverse and we have more slots open for more interesting characters, but again I highly doubt it. One of these days Hasbro has to get around to Star Saber and Deathsaurus, but it probably isn't today. The new springer (no way cyberverse has the budget for a real triple changer, or the guts to portray spinger as anything but) would have to be literally magic in plastic form to surpass the last one, and with the "everything and everyone is a cube" thing they have going on here, I don't see that happening. Also just realized Impactor could be a straight redeco of Ironhide. Hope that doesn't happen, but it would be quite a twist.
Despite all my gripes, some of these figures look stellar. Optimus looks great (awesome blend of toy and cartoon influences on the torso), Ironhide will be great to have, and the weaponizer Cog looks like buckets of fun.

Cog and Magnus still have a functional figure in there if you lose parts, as Cog seem like he can transform to his own altmode without having to be pulled apart and only gets pulled to pieces when he 'combine' with someone else. Magnus, meanwhile, still has a full cab robot if you were to lose the trailer.

Take another look, you have to pull off Cog's arms and stick them back on to his chest to transform him.

While you're definitely right about Magnus, Cog is a "partsformer" all the way. You have to pop his arms out of the 5mm holes on his shoulders and into the ones on his robot mode chest to transform him. Actually, that seems like 50% of his transformation
