And she's going to be Ultra (the old Mega for OG tfans), which means I'm going to have to get that missile pod Starscream to go with her and sell my Warrior class Starscream. Or keep it.
I'm liking the new designs, scout's a bit iffy but okay. Atleast the Decepticon car lady has shoulder articulation which is good.
And I really dig Hot Rod, a beefy bulky guy this time.
Prowl looks good, very what UP said Cyberbattalion like. I do hope if he's stable in the torso and has an easy transformation that they repaint him to death.
Same goes for that missile pod Starscream (eventhough he's not that great by a long shot) that they also make him an Acid Storm and Thundercracker, put Slipstream's head on it (they should have square heads) and I'm totally happy with it.
The 2 Ultimates, Optimus and Megatron are really fun. Just 3D printed a resized Armada Optimus gun for Optimus since he didn't came with a weapon.

Having the scout class only transform halway is still the worst idea Hasbro's had in a long time. And since it's the cheapest price point (and thus most likely to be bought as an impulse buy or by parents for their kids), I can't help but think it'll hurt sales of the toyline as a whole. Shadow Striker at least manages to look kinda like those toys they used to put in happy meals with the character's head and shoulders sticking out of a tiny car, like she's driving herself, but that may just be because we're not seeing her from the front.
Interesting how these one-steps have autotransform AND action gimmicks. And how it doesn't make them look any worse than previous one-steps (faint praise, I admit). Prowl and Wheeljack look adequate, and Megatron actually looks pretty nice. Hot Rod doesn't look quite as good but having a big buzzsaw still puts him ahead of Prime and Bee in my eyes.
The standard sizes seem to be getting their articulation back, Most of these seem to have knees, elbows, and turning heads. Nice that Slipstream's getting a new mold, gives me hope that future seekers could at least have some retooling to better reflect their individual character designs.
I might be in the minority here, but I like that they've gone back to individualized action gimmicks like they used to have before the DotM toyline, rather than building each size around a single gimmick for everyone. It offers more variety, and in theory it allows better integraion with individual figures (though in practice it seems they might be a little out of practice with doing that). Obviously, some are better than others; Prowl's shoulder guns seem fairly natural an intuitive, but Prime slapping on a giant Autobot symbol in vehicle mode looks kinda stupid, and I'm not entirely sure what Slipstream's is even supposed to be other than a big spinner thing that amuses me for no good reason. Soundwave's is probably the best, it's certainly a clever way of working Laserbeak into a toyline that doesn't have a place for accessories, and the only thing that would make it better is if he launched as he opened up like BW Scorponok's bee or Polar Claw's bat (not that those necessarily were particularly reliable or went very far, but the spirit was there), or at least could be detached, but that seems highly unlikely.

Nexus Knight wrote:My initial reaction to this line what the why?! Hasbro as done some amazing and incredible jobs with their gimmick lines in the past (with a couple okay wells in the past). But then I remember how much seven year old me loved my first toy. And how stupid it seems now. This line will be fine for the audience it goes for. It's perfect, in fact.
Thats very well said. While these dont look amazing compared to previous lines or current lines, it does have similar vibes to G1. Not only in the character choice but in the use of gimmicks and simple transformations that impact the robot mode look an proportions. Hasbro is literally bringing G1 back in almost every line in some perspective.

Oh yeah, when unpacking my first one, Starscream, I was pleasantely surprized.

Fellow Seibertronian chuckdawg1999 has shared his review of the figure, which we have embedded below for you all to take a look - find out more, and let us know your thoughts in the Energon Pub discussion boards!
Acid Storm is a repaint of Warrior Class Starscream. If you liked Starscream, you're probably me; for the rest of you, it's nice to see the more fringe members of the Seekers getting a little attention.

admittedly
less garbage than Starscream

People will shoplift ANYTHING. Serously, it's pathetic. Just look at the toy section in any Winners or Marshall. And the worst thing is those destroyed packages with missing parts still sell at full price. Be cause reasons.

adamage1 wrote:It’s kind of shocking how awful this line is. RID looks like a masterpiece line by comparison. Hollow, limited-to-almost-no articulation, gimmicks that intrude on transformation and cause floppiness on various parts, goofy or just plain bad designs, all at exorbitant price points. The excuse that these are aimed at children doesn’t fly either, as it can’t be justified with these price points. I certainly wouldn’t lay that kind of money down on such poorly made toys for any child I know. Hopefully this line fades away fast. At least WfC: Siege looks like a home run in almost every respect.
I agreevwith a few points but The price point argument is nonsense since the leaders in Cyberverse cost the same as Seige voyagers.
