Does it make a difference that this time it was the Internet who chose this? I discovered this while listening to the Empire Podcast and the critic talking about it was totally against Prime being there. haha!

Film popularity doesn't really come into it, The Dude is just, The Dude. There is no other like him.

As it stands, 98 out of a billion isn't bad and I'm going to bake Optimus a celebratory cake, regardless.

No one had problem when wheelie did it in animated movie, but when jazz and blaster talk in rhyme no one complained but people complained about wheelie talking in rhyme.
Should be great ful m. Bay made this series into popular movies bay made transformers more popular all over again g1 series didn't never made much sense, same with g1 comics scorponok being same size as grimlock scorponok is city transformer head master and he is same size as Dino bots in g1 comics but unicron and combines are not,.
If we had new director taking over number three film will it be successful and make sense new directors took over for tim burton for batman sequels gave batman and robin bat nipples on costumes made goth,a city colorful gigantic castle city with dark circus lights, and director with Brandon Ruth superman returns man of steel turned out better and exciting than superman returns

Well technically this means he beats every single character from harry potter except Harry himself, as well as Princess Lea, Darth Maul, every single Liam Neeson character, every single gary oldman character, as well as every character played by Peter Lore and Vincent Price, all the movie monsters, Ben Hur, Sparticus, King Leonidas, Spock, Tintin, marry poppins, Bishop from Aliens, Dr Allen Grant, Santa Clause, Hulk and Thor himself.
I think his presence on this list instead of any of those above pissed way more people than any of us pissed Optimus isnt any higher.
Personally, I am super surprised Patrick Bateman is so high on this list and that Captain Mal Reynolds beats both Star Lord and Captain Kirk.

What a bizarrely nonsensical statement. I mean, a silly reader-voted poll pretending to be fact is a given, but implying I have to go to one specific site to find out my own personal favorites? Pffft HAHAH!!
I'm rather amused GotG managed to get two entries in there -- and neither of them Rocket! The other franchises that did that are obvious mainstays like Star Wars and Batman.

Oh and I realize Superman didnt make the list. So just think of all the Superman fans out there who see that Optimus Prime beat him, HA!

Don't you need character development in order to actually be a character in a movie?

Optimus, Bumblebee, Megatron, Sentinel, and Lockdown all had it. The Fallen had a bit of it and so did Crosshairs, just a tiny bit. You can't tell me none of them had any development.

You're right, their development involved killing or dying.

what about the fact that optimus' opinions of humans flux all the time and lockdown is immensely dedicated to his creators, or Sentinel had his mission of saving his planet and that was the only goal?

How could I forget about those. And then they killed people or died, that's what we call a character arc in the biz : D

He took off to go beat people up.
Same as he's been doing since the first movie.
Optimus Prime is nothing more than a bully looking to subjugate the Decepticons who are doing nothing more than wanting their race to expand across the galaxy.

I'm sure by the end of AOE, Optimus still hates humanity. He just knows it's his duty to protect them, no matter what. After all, the reason the Decepticons came to Earth in the first place was his fault.

Except it was Megatron's fault since he started the war and got to Earth first.

But Optimus sent the Allapsrk to Earth. If he hadn't, Megatron probably would have never even known about Earth.

And it was The Fallen's fault for both turning Megatron to the dark side and for building the Great Machine on Earth in the first place, which is what drew the AllSpark to the planet. Optimus never knew of the Star Harvester being on Earth or that the AllSpark would be drawn to it. When he launched it, he shot it into the Alkaris Anomaly, a wormhole in space that has a potentially infinite number of exits, meaning that enters it gets spit out at random into ANY place in the universe. It just so happened that the AllSpark was still drawn to the Great Machine on Earth regardless of where it got spat out.mirageandjazz1197 wrote:SlyTF1 wrote:william-james88 wrote:Well to be fair, tha autobots started in AOE by not caring about the humans. That's cuz the movies can't be bothered to go that deep into its own lore, leaving that task to fall to the Movieverse comics and novels instead (back when those were a thing, anyway, in the pre-AOE years).william-james88 wrote:I watched all the films and I never got that story from them.

I know he didn't sent it to Earth on purpose. But if he hadn't jettisoned it off Cybertron, it never would have found its way to Earth in the first place.

Which he did cause of Megatron and the Decepticons which in the movies clearly show they are psychotic and not like G1 or other continuities

It definitely was The Fallen's fault initially, but Optimus still feels like it's his responsibility for involving the humans, I'm sure. That's my point.
