Do you think SDCC Devastator will be more expensive that retail Devy?

Surprised that I haven't seen many comments about how this is a "2 eyes" version of Devy's head, versus the "Visor" version that will be in store.

So tooling unique to this version of the mold.

I like the visor version better though.

I'm really liking this guy. The extra paint apps really make him pop. I'm even feeling the chrome.

That was one of the first things I noticed. I'm surprised I had to read through all these posts to the most recent ones to find someone else that noticed.

Good face, but I'm not sure if that's enough to make me want it. I'm not a huge fan of the extra paint, it's too busy, and I really don't like them mixing purple plastic and chrome, looks terribly tacky to me. I'll pass on this and look forward to the retail version.

I suppose this is the big late May Facebook announcement they promised us last month. Rather underwhelming, was hoping for something entirely new like the Autobot remolds or a Technobots teaser.

I'm hoping they'll have him on display at Botcon, so I can get a better look at him before paying out the nose in secondary markets.

It's nice. But after seeing how similar SDCC Metroplex was to Takara's (and ACG con), I would wait to see what UW Devastator looks like before committing to this. Not to mention, Takara teased Defensor and actually showed us right away. Devy has been teased twice... so a full reveal can't be far away...

I like the bio. They really ramp it up with the rhetoric about him potentially having enough power to be a destroyer of civilizations and a terror in the universe. I also like the shpeel about the minds not being able to merge properly. They make Devi sound quite bad ass.

When it comes to the paint and detail of their larger figures, Hasbro has gotten just flat out lazy.

That's my plan: I'll either find a way to get this SDCC edition or the Takara-Tomy version, whichever is nicer. Although I'm worried there's going to be things I like and dislike about each, making it a difficult decision.

i hope we dont have a repeat of metroplex this time when HTS puts it up to have it sold out 30 sec. later

On that "other" forum, that seems to be the only difference some people have noticed apart from the vac metal chest piece and mixer drum. Some people are overlooking the 50% additional paint apps and decals this version carries.

Dude. I'm not even expecting to see this up for grab on HTS. I may be that guy that pays double on ebay. But only if in some way it's a worthwhile improvement over retail, or I can get it sooner.

I just now realized that the outer flap of the box that opens like a book cover is meant to resemble a giant construction shovel.

I'm all over the SDCC version because of DAT BOX.

EDIT: I take that back, the heads on page 70 showing the difference look nearly identical to me, but a better photo on Google does show a change. Hmm, I prefer the visor head, but the paint apps on this are superior, even leaving aside the chrome, those treads on Bonecrsher needed to have some detail.

When I saw the Hasbro retail Devy with the visor I was half hoping the visor would be retractable. Now I see the SDCC Devy with two eyes and I'm torn. The TakTom version teases the visor so I guess there's still hope for a retractable visor. I doubt it though.

So glad I have my Hercules.

I think Takara-Tomy will just go with the visor version of the head sculpt. Even though in the original cartoon, Devastator's face would just randomly switch between the visor and the two eyes look within the same episodes, I'm pretty sure Takara considers the visor look the "correct" version of the character. They made a brand new sculpt of THAT version for the Encore 20A "Anime Devastator" released a few years ago.
