HASBRO wants to know what we think. Nope, this is not a joke. They really want to know what characters have been thrown around Seibertron.com as HOF worthy? You can check out the original discussion thread here to see some people's thoughts when they heard about the hall of fame being proposed.
The really cool thing though is that each website gets to submit their top five character choices to HASBRO as voted on by their community members. So you now have 7 days to get your vote in by clicking your top three choices in the poll that goes along with this post.
HASBRO “ROLLS OUT” TRANSFORMERS HALL OF FAME
TRANSFORMERS Fans Will Participate in Selecting One Robot for the Class of 2010
Pawtucket, R.I. (March 26, 2010) — After more than 25 years of “MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE” action, Hasbro (NYSE: HAS) is announcing the TRANSFORMERS Hall of Fame that will honor both “ROBOTS IN DISGUISE” and those influential in creating and building this iconic entertainment brand.
Heroic AUTOBOTS OPTIMUS PRIME and BUMBLEBEE, as well as evil DECEPTICONS MEGATRON and STARSCREAM, will be the first robots honored with admission as chosen by Hasbro’s TRANSFORMERS Hall of Fame internal panel of judges. TRANSFORMERS fans around the world will determine a fifth robot to join the inaugural class via voting on the Transformers.com website starting on Monday, May 10, 2010. The winning robot will be revealed Saturday night, June 26, 2010 in Orlando, FL at the annual TRANSFORMERS convention known as “BotCon” when the entire Class of 2010 will be officially inducted.
“The TRANSFORMERS Hall of Fame celebrates a global entertainment property that has sparked the imagination of millions of kids over the past 26 years and remains one of the world’s most iconic brands,” said Greg Lombardo, senior director of marketing for TRANSFORMERS. “Starting in 2010, Hasbro will annually honor fans’ most-loved characters from the world of CYBERTRON as well as those individuals who have helped shape a brand that has spawned an army of popular action figures, multiple animated series and two blockbuster live action movies that set worldwide box office records.”
Next Friday when we send in Seibetron.com's top five choices, HASBRO will then take all the fan website choices (including ours) and tally up the robot points. We will then be able to vote from the top five robot points receivers at Transformers.com to add one robot to the already elite group of bots that has been admitted to the TRANSFORMERS HALL OF FAME already.
TRANSFORMERS HALL OF FAME MEMBERS (Introductory Class of 2010)
-Optimus Prime
-Bumblebee
-Megatron
-Starscream

I really wanted to cast a vote for BW Ravage, G1 Jazz, and to a lesser extent Hot Rod. If it was Rodimus Prime, Devastator would have been out.

Optimus Primal!
Prowl (Animated)!
They lived as warriors, soldiers, brothers to their comrades. And died as heroes, legends, saviors to many.
May their sparks live on forever in the Matrix, the Allspark, the Well of All Sparks. The greatest of Cybertron.

Make sure you're logged in, and browse to the thread. If you reply from within the news story, you don't get the pol1.

How did you come up with the list? Is there a predetermined cast (perhaps by Hasbro?) to vote on or did someone pull it out of thin air?
Posted by ceratoformers3 on April 15th, 2010 @ 7:05pm CDT
BW Dinobot
G1 Soundwave
G1 Jazz
But why is he listed as BW Ravage when G1 Ravage and BW Ravage are the same guy?

For the poll I went Grimey, Arcee and Soundwave. For my sig my vote for the HOF goes to my favorite Transformer, Kup, to the Headmasters (who still need new figures that aren't just the characters without their master components) and to seibertron.com for for being the ultimate TF resource.

G1 Soundwave, primarily because of his toy. Let's face it, in the cartoon and comics, he never really DID anything other than follow orders and have some nifty props. He did have the cassette minions, but is he to be voted in based on their coolness? He does have a strong recognition factor, but honestly... is that really worth it?
G1 Grimlock, both for his comic and cartoon representations. For a while, he (and his teammates, the Dinobots) were the biggest and baddest Autobots around. Even Devastator got worried when the Dinos showed up. In the 'toon, he was amusingly 'dumb', played for humor even as he kicked tailpipe and took numbers. In the comic, he was cunning, egotistical, and COMMANDED THE AUTOBOTS FOR OVER A YEAR. He was the first 'beastformer', and a truly iconic character in the brand.
Unicron Trilogy Hot Shot, as a representative for the trio of series that truly redefined the 'third age' of Transformers (the first being G1, second as the Beast Era, and the fourth being the live-action films). He's the one character that really stands out as unique to that universe (Animated version notwithstanding), and his growth through the trilogy is what warrants his placement on this list. Worthy of induction? Probably not yet... but worthy of nomination.
Beast Wars Dinobot, as a representative of the aforementioned 'Second Age' of Transformers. Let's face it... his toy was pretty lackluster. But what he lacked in plastic, he made up for in sheer character. He was a first in the Transformers mythos - a truly honorable villain, betraying his cohorts to fight alongside the heroes... an anti-hero, a black knight. His evolution from vindictive ally to grudging companion to loyal friend is a very compelling journey... capped by the incredible episode "Code of Hero." Now ask yourself... how many Transformer Deaths have made you cry? I can think of two, and one of 'em is automatically being inducted this year...
G1 Spike Witwicky, for his unique role in the Transformers mythos. He was the first human to really connect with the giant alien robots, guiding the Autobots in how to live on this planet. It was with the help of humans that the Decepticons were defeated, time and again, and that help could never have come without a loyal ally guiding them along. Alternately, the Witwicky family could be inducted, from Sparkplug and Buster, to Carly & Daniel. Heck, even lump Sam in here, who seems to be inspired by Spike, anyway...
There are lots of characters worthy to be on this list, too (why not Devastator? Jetfire/Skyfire? Unicron? Skids & Mudfl... ok, maybe not them)... as well as several non-fictional entrants. Simon Furman, who wrote some of the core mythology we use today, or Bob Budiansky, who originated so many classic characters? The voice actors, too numerous to single out in this post, that gave us so many amazing characters? Superstar Michiyamenotehi Funana, who... erm... well... frankly, I just want to see him come to BotCon to accept his award, and get a videotape of fan reaction...
Ok, folks, let's see your lists, and don't leave out the rationalizations!

As I wrote in the thread that announced the Hall of Fame:
What's with all this retro 1984 thinking? Think bigger! Think... 1985! You want a Decepticon? You want more than Season 1? You want a COMBINER? You want a character that has been consistantly awesome in every series he's ever been in? You know what you want? You want SWINDLE!
You know you do.

Posted by Rodimus777 on April 17th, 2010 @ 3:57am CDT
1st: DEVASTATOR:: C'mon, first gestalt...nuff said!
2nd: Soundwave: Great character in series with that voice.
Never liked the whole cassette player alt
mode thing but caved in 'cause of his
minions (didn't really mind that their
alt modes though...hmmm...strange.) Just
glad he became a vehicle in
Cybertron/Galaxy Force.
3rd: Hot Rod: Liked how he was the hothead turned new
leader. Great toy(s) as well.
Had I been able to choose ANY THREE, they'd have been Devastator (see above), Predaking (best looking and best sized gestalt with awesome alt modes for the predacons), and Ultra Magnus (Love UM figures...character isn't so bad either.)
Please: No Grimlock! (And NO Wheelie!!!...ughk...*burp*...oh, sorry, I just threw up a little.)
