Really want to see that giant Devy head mixmaster is hiding.

Also concerned we won't be getting Frenzy.

I’m delighted to see that we’re getting a new movie Shockwave, and with so many minifigs!!
Being such a massive fan of Mixmaster’s old voyager toy, I’m pretty disappointed by what I’m looking at here. But i’ll just have to keep in mind that he’s part of a much larger Combiner. He’s just not what I was expecting. I’ll wait for some in hand images, and see if he grows on me.
As for that Megatron, I’m left feeling pretty underwhelmed. He looks like such a step down after his first two (three) entries in the SS line. I fully admit that I had very negative views on Dark of the Moon Megatron, until I gambled and bought him. I was very, very happy to be so wrong about him. Turns out it was an amazing figure, and I’m glad I took a chance on it. RotF Megatron looks very simple and unadorned to me. Hopefully I turn out to be wrong again.

Super excited for the constructicons, though Mixmaster looks kinda weak again imo. Doesn't seem like he'll have the cannon mode that the OG had, and still looks like he might fall over a lot. He was even knocked over in the display case. I guess it's a hard design to pull off in general, let alone with hidden Devy head. I hope he's got the Devastator head and there's no partsforming with Devastator. Wouldn't it be interesting though if the third torso figure had the head and no bot mode?

I also think I found out what it is I like so much about the 07 Megatron - the head sculpt. Something about the MPM head sculpt looks off to me, but the SS one looks perfect.

I_AM... MEGATRON! wrote:Shouldn't 07 Megs be a leader? I distinctly remember him towering over Prime in the first movie...
I agree. although *logically* Megatron should be the same size in Robot mode in all 3 films, the constant vehicle rescans I guess make this hard. I would think he would definitely have been Leader Class size in the first film and Voyager size in movies 2 & 3 (that DotM tuck ain't that big, despite what others claim...), but I guess that's why I'm not a SS collector, I like seeing them, but don't purchase any.
I wonder how long before we see a repaint of Scavenger as Demolishor. Probably when they make Grindor from Blackout, and....and now I'm confused....
They rename *some* Decepticons that have the same body type, but for Rampage there's Red Rampage (killed by BB, but that's the toy that is out now...), and Yellow Rampage, that was actually part of Devastator in the RotF film...

Oh and so it's not all negativity, I like the little Wheelie & Brains figures that come with Shockwave. Nice way to release them

Maybe you've answered your own question already, but it looks very much like the wheels are hidden in the alt mode. Look under/behind the scoop arm in alt mode in the high-quality pics, that looks like the robot mode wheel.
Still love this guy, looks great.

I don’t know, I think the jet mode nose might fold up to help fill out that space based on what we’re looking at. No way of telling unless we see some different angles, though.

If you're talking about the cut out on the white part, then no way, it's closed off and seems way too narrow to accommodate the connector

I think the forearm bends up leaving that red piece at the elbow in place revealing the track. The square peg is actually pretty small and that’s a leader class. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Here are my thoughts on each:

Looks frikkin amazing! Demolishor was my first RotF figure and one of the first Decepticons I got at all. He looks marvelous, definitely seeming like an improvement over his original figure. And the treads end up inside the wheels! That is brilliant.

Also looks really good! I've been trying to find Devastator face parts in there and i can't. I think the cab will fold inside out to become the face, that is the only way that can work from what I can see. He still looks good as his own individual too!
6 down, 2 reveals to go, and i think those will have the 2nd most interesting: Overload. (Scavenger was the first)

This one makes me nervous. This is yet another Shockwave that is a leader scale, and unlike his Siege counterpart, he doesn't seem to have a very good reason for it. He is a retool of a voyager with 3 non-posing accessories, very different from Optimus with a trailer. He needed his Driller! We need the Driller!
I'm also nervous because he is a retool of RotF Megatron, and that mold was pretty ass. One of the weakest of the line. they would have been better with a new mold.

Trash.
Like, this hurts Trash.
what have they done???? That jet mode is so boxy in the back. the middle is not streamlined or cohesive at all. The entire chest and crotch are wrong! The legs are boxy when the MPM proved you didn't need that!
What the hell did you guys do? You nailed the MPM, and then you make this... why?
On a plus, the head looks nice and the mace is awesome, but.... come on guys, i expected much better.
So with these reveals, how long until we get wreckers? Like, Wreckers, Dino, Que, Jolt, they have to be inevitable, right? And I am still holding out hope for a Leader class Infernocus

Unless they’re saving the wreckers for a 2021 10th anniversary release, I think it’s a really safe bet that we’ll see at least one in the next deluxe wave.
I’m trying to think how they could tackle a Driller in Studio Series, it would almost have to be a titan to get the scale across, maybe even just a short section as a commander class? I’m not sure how feasible it would be.

With Shockwave getting a toy without the Driller, I think we can forget the Driller toy at this point, it's a pipe dream. I don't think it does enough by itself to be an individual release sadly.
And I am so happy we are getting Brains and Wheelie. With them and the Arcees, the only Live Action Autobot I will be missing that was in the movies will be Dino. i have everyone else at some scale and toy, but Leadfoot and roadbuster need weaponized deluxes.
OK, I do have a Dino, but it is that Prime Cyberverse repaint of sideways, so it doesn't really count

Yeah, Takara made a separate character named "Skipjack" from a yellow redeco of the red Legends/Legion class Rampage toy from the 2010 line, thereby enabling anyone to repurpose the yellow Rampage toys as the separate Skipjack character.LeAwesome1 wrote:o.supreme wrote:They rename *some* Decepticons that have the same body type, but for Rampage there's Red Rampage (killed by BB, but that's the toy that is out now...), and Yellow Rampage, that was actually part of Devastator in the RotF film...![]()

Scavenger looks like an improvement over the original, but those images of him next to the Shockwave don't make him look as HUGE as I was hoping he would be. He's the same model as Demolishor, and Optimus was barely taller than his wheel in the film. Was hoping he would be designed in a way where he would TOWER over other voyagers in the line, like SS Grimlock.

Mixmaster looks like a flat out downgrade to the original, IMO. Only reason to pick him up would be to form Devastator.

Megatron is a brand new mold. He just uses the wrong chest detailing, they screwed that up.
I agree though that Scavenger needed to be bigger. i'm happy with the size and look but it would have been perfect in an even larger size

The problem with scavenger being bigger is balancing devy, scale might not be what it should on the individual figures but Devy is the main focus this time around.
I'm shocked that D-Max is 07 Megs biggest detractor

Yep, voyager retooled into leader, the extra gear and tooling taking up part of that price along with the minifigures. You can really see it in the legs, Shockwave uses megatron as a base.
And yeah Zero, the MP might have spoiled me. But still, the chest/crotch should have been easy to do right, and why put the wings in the legs? They ended up on his back

Look at the treads. They match Megatron's in both detailing and positioning. Only the front/toe treads are now the armored toes. The parts end up in the same place in alt mode, head, arms, and all.

How do you know that exactly? It looks to me like they did use the chest of the previous toy, or at least it's CAD file.
I wouldnt call any of these retools though, just part sharing. The idea of using the word "mold" as a singular doesnt really work anymore anyway. Just like TR Blurr shares some parts (thus some of it's molding) with TR Chromedome (or how siege sideswipe shares a part with Sixgun and
