You like reveals? How about the remaining Studio Series Wave 1 characters for 2022? All inspired by Transforrmers: Bumblebee! We know you want to build the epic Cybertron Battle opening scene, and now you can! For the first time in Studio Series, check out Deluxe Class Autobot Ratchet, Brawn, and Wheeljack, PLUS Voyager Class Soundwave.
And that's not all! We're introducing Core Class to the Studio Series line for the first time ever! And what better way to kick off this new Studio Series scale than with Ravage, who converts into a Cybertronian cassette that fits in the Voyager Class Soundwave figure's chest. And check out Core Class Shockwave with his Cybertronian tank mode and a first look at the new open window packaging for the Core Class scale.
Parents, be sure to check back in December for exciting pre-order information.

The Deluxe Autobots look cool. Ravage looks ok, I understand the limitations of the "cassette" alt mode, and cannot make the jaguar look as dynamic as it should. Why they are releasing Shockwave as a core class instead of a voyager or leader still doesn't make sense.

I wonder if not knowing the alt mode makes these easier or harder to design.

Shockwave looks great.
Loving Brawn, will get him and Wheeljack definitely.
Ratchet is o.k.
What the heck does Soundwave transform into exactly?
Ravage looks great, but not sure that is a cassette looks like he's just balled up.

They probably based Core Shockwave's alt mode on Dark of the Moon's Shockwave alt mode to be fair.

That is my guess. Otherwise they would have to navigate the inevitable collision of SS-1 through SS-79 so far with SS86. Oddly enough, there were enough slots to get them right to SS-85 with the first wave next year.

. . . Though I will admit that I'm tempted to get a Ratchet to paint in Bayverse Ratchet's colors.
I do like the packaging for core class, can't wait to see how DOTM Laserbeak turns out.

Soundwaves alt mode looks pretty bad unless it has meant to have a purpose and even then, not so sure of it. Ravage looks pretty bad, he was way more zoid/energon looking but I guess the Energon figure could be used instead of him.
Shockwaves just kinda meh, would rather it been like the movie video game alt mode otherwise the other Baynus one SS or not would be the one to go for.
Not liking the new core packaging boxes, kinda hides the size of the figure (like how they exagerated TR Gnaws size) or feels a huge waste of packaging in Ravages case.
Two definite buys for me aint bad for a line I keep uhming and ahming if I should just sell what I have and keep to the other stuff.

That gun under Ravage looks like Soundwave's missile. It also has a rear peg and Soundwave's shoulder cannon has a front port. Yeah it's supposed to go in his handgun but oh well. I mean, there wasn't anything stopping someone from putting one of the missiles in the G1 shoulder cannon right? There's a port on the front of it. I haven't had a complete G1 Soundwave in a long time so I don't remember fully if you can. However, that's how I remembered it until I got Titanium Soundwave and the weapons were switched as far as I was concerned lol.
Speaking of Ravage, is it just me or does it look like the "create a Decepticon" original artwork for Night Stalker as created by Jason Yeo? No I don't mean Nightstalker who's a redeco of Steeljaw and an Autobot.
They all look like very good figures overall. I don't always pick up Studio Series figures for some reason but I'll be getting all of these. I'll even get two Ravage just so I can repaint one slightly into Night Stalker. I think I'll end up changing the eyes to red, the center head stripe to yellow and the red on the legs to yellow. I'll keep the sides of the head red to simulate the red in the ears of the original artwork.

I know some on here, such as Will, were not entirely sold on those designs. However, Shockwave in particular, is still my favourite design for him. Chiefly because they modernised him.

"Core class", as in "Legends" scale or Deluxe? I'm a bit confused.

Studio Series is part of Generations, and the price points are the same between the two; Studio Series just uses less of them. So SS Core is the same as Gen. Core Class.

Legends size, think Kingdom Rattrap. It's the upteenth renaming of the Class lower than Deluxe.

In 2021 they retitled what essentially used to be Legends Class (from 2013-2018) and was absent from 2019-2020, is now "Core Class"
so in short YES Core Class= Legends Class.

Yeah, a rumor just popped up about a Voyager Ironhide for SS86. Ratchet has always been an easy retool (and vise/versa). While I still find it puzzling that we have smaller representations of characters that essentially should be in the main generations line, spilling over into SS and SS86, it may help knowing these are just smaller more economical toys as easy buys for parents/kids (and yes some adults like them as well...) but assuming that proper versions will eventually come. But it also serves the duel purpose of getting out more accurately scaled versions of smaller characters such as Rattrap, BB ravage, Dracodon etc.
Combiner Wars did the same thing There were Legends Class AND Leader Class seekers both in the same line.
Posted by Deadput on November 9th, 2021 @ 4:23pm CST
But why is Shockwave in core class? I know Studio Series has had it's inaccuracies here and there but to get somebody's actual size class drastically different and to not scale with anything else?
This is like that Legends Shockwave figure from Combiner Wars but this time there's nothing for this Core Shockwave to go with! Like...again why?

Same rules as Kingdom Core Class it looks like, specifically Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream and Soundwave.

EDIT: - Just read the other comment above and now I am understand: Seibertron's method is just an old, clunky and unintuitive way. I can't be bothered with that, so I'll just continue with the "normal" way of posting just the link. I hope this site gets the update it so desperately needs!
Rant over (and thanks to all for the help/explanation).

I didn't like the FOC toys for that cheap thin plastic and simplistic transformations (a fake head on shockwave, really?!). But I never minded the designs themselves.

We are getting an earth mode Ironhide in the SS86 line.

Ha! He's not even the only core class shockwave from 2022. You're getting another one in Legacy.

It would be the wrong alt mode.

If Brawn's helmet closed around his mouth, he'd kinda resemble a green/yellow Juggernaut.
I was already down for Wheeljack, now I can add Brawn, Ratchet and Soundwave to the list.
