I'm sooo going to get this as soon as it's available on European servers.
There are players online now, it's lots of fun driving of when your damaged
I did hope they would've made Ravage or Arcee, but this is great as well.
I hope this addon is such a succes that the game dev will make another addon
with movie 1 bots, more movie 2 bots and stuff from the TF universe like
Energon Wing Saber or Classics Galvatron

The screen shot shows Megs in the Deep Six mission. So it's very likely he just has the ability to fly instead of an alt mode, as in the first game.
At least Screamer will be wielding him in gun mode, can't wait for that.

Hmmm....perhaps. However, I think it would be rather stupid to only include the skin for areas in which he can fly...that narrows it down to about...2. Unless the skin automatically switches the tank mode to a fly mode for every map....

For the Decepticons, the first character I tried out was Soundwave. Alt mode is impressive. Robot mode is even better. His primary weapon is much like Jazz's which is nice. Secondary weapon is like a missile launcher. His special ability is good for attacking groups of enemies, especially in robot mode. G1 Starscream & Sunstorm are good looking and great for using in almost any mission. Both of their null rays are fast weapons & cause decent amounts of damage. Sunstorm's flamethrowers are exactly like Long Haul's. Starscream's special ability is a carbon copy of Megatron's. As for Megatron, he's by far the least time I've gotten to interact with since I've only found 1 mission in which to use him, which is the final battle w/The Fallen. No Alt. Mode, just flying around ala the last game. Weapons are the same, only the colors of the shots are G1 purple.
Little nods like the G1 transforming sound are cool throughout. While using G1 characters, even switching to weapon mode you hear it. Another is that Prime's special ability makes him gold, just like the G1 episode "The Golden Lagoon". Starscream's null rays don't sound exactly like they did in G1, but they do sound like something you'd hear 20 years ago.
Overall, I'm enjoying the expansion pack so far. As I don't have a gold subscription, I haven't experienced multiplayer yet & therefore haven't gotten to try out Jetfire, Aerialbot or the 3 new maps. If you're on the verge of getting it, just go ahead & spend the $10 or 800 Microsoft points. Even if you feel you won't get any play out of the new characrers, I would have to argue against. Using the new characters, you can go back to older missions & complete them w/the new ones. This at least gives you some more energon to buy your team upgrades. So, go ahead & get the expansion pack.

I noticed the leader boards have been updated to include "Expert" so it shouldn't be long now. I got kicked out of my game, well the whole f'n thing froze about a half house ago, so maybe it's been updated to handle the DLC.

Well, the first thing I did was try out the new Autobots.
G1 Prime does indeed have a lot more firepower in the rifle of his. He looks quite nice, though my own gripe is that his blue isn't quite the blue from G1, but thats nitpicky. Other than shooting, he seems to exhibit all the same animations as his movie counterpart, barring obviously transformation. His special is the ballistics shielding, but instead of blue, he turns gold, as per The Golden Lagoon.
Sideswipe is nifty. The animators could have spent a little more time watching a colleague roll around on skates for a bit because I'm not entirely convinced by his animation, but he is still very slick. Not quite as fast as I'd imagined he'd be. But his animation has had thought put into it: Hold forward for a while, and he'll stop pushing and simply glide with his blades out, before pushing to gather more momentum. His weapons are very meh though, apart from his blades which are, as you might expect, his defining feature. His special charges up and fires his blades, as he does while attacking Sideways in the movie.
Jazz is my favourite new addition. His animation and movement seems to all be based around a mixture of capoeria and breakdancing. His advanced melee attack launches him from robot mode into a windmill kick, spinning on his head with his legs apart sending anything in their way flying. I especially like his transformation, where the animators clearly paid attention to the first movie. Going into vehicle mode, he does a little spin, which can be awkward while planning an escape as you don't know which way he'll be facing, but its damn fun to look at. His secondary weapon is some crazy homing disc launcher and it's just badass.
G1 Megatron replaces the Flight Megatron model (NOT the tank one) meaning you wont be able to play as him until the final mission in Single Player. He obviously flies instead of transforming and to be honest, I didn't find all that much to do with him. He looks very nice and has some nice weapons (including the mace to counter G1 Prime's Axe) but all in all... meh. A satisfied 'meh' mind you.
G1 Starscream is my favourite, possibly. He looks almost identical to the masterpiece/classics release in vehicle mode, and his robot mode is nice and angular. He has lasers, rockets and his special launches a small Megatron in gun mode into his hand, charges up and fires a single, devastating shot. What I especially love is that the sound guys took some time to make him sound right. They took all of Movie Starscream's voice clips and upped the pitch, and also added some more synthesis, to make him sound like a nightmarish Chris Latta.
G1 Sunstorm is slightly less impressive having just played Starscream. He's identical, has the same voice clips, but features a chargable melee punch, a weapon-overheat wave and flamethrowers. Not much use from afar, he's clearly made for getting up close and personal.
Soundwave is excellent. Make him one of your last characters to try out if you want to end on a high note. Everything on him is alien. His vehicle mode is a cybertronian jet (not a satellite), which makes an eerie noise as it glides along. His wings also bend and move in accordance to which way he's flying. All his weapons are lasers, no ballistics. And, if you launch his special in robot mode, he deploys a Rumble drone that transforms and starts stomping on the ground, knocking enemies away. However, if you launch his special in vehicle mode, he deploys a Laserbeak drone who hangs in the sky and rains laser fire down on targets. Both drones are weak but pack a punch while they can. It's a little awkward listening to Soundwave taunt and comment on the score in multiplayer, but nothing to lose sleep over.
Finally, Jetfire. Jetfire is meh. He's big, he creaks when he walks (which is a nice touch). He can't perform any of the sharp manoeuvres (I think) and he can only rain down bombs in vehicle mode. His special lights up all enemies on the map. He's big, slow and, in context, he's great. But as a character to play as, well, not my personal favourite but there's nothing actually wrong with him at all.
One thing that I would've loved to have seen are more soundbites from G1. Prime's rifle, Megatron's canon, the G1 transformation sound. None are present (in there original forms), with the transformation sound being only an approximation of what it used to be. Its the transformation sound, alright, but its not the G1 sound. Not that it's a huge deal, but it seems that, apart from the voice actors who were there anyway, there might have been an issue securing those sounds or the studio thought it would be better simply not to at all. Its a small point, but try playing and picturing those sounds in place and you'll realise how much of an effect they would've had.
Also, some missions to introduce and explore the new characters would've been nice. If only to exhibit their voice clips and thus their personality. No real effort is made to integrate them into the game - they don't appear mid-mission doing commentary, cut-scenes involving them don't happen (G1 Prime doesn't shoot Demolisher, it just fades out, and the final cutscene will cut back to the movie counterparts even if you were playing G1). But, its a character pack. That's all they promised and they delivered.
Very happy with what I have though.
Definite buy if you're on the fence.

LoL Bring it on !
I have to agree with the character reviews.. I have to say Jazz is a absolute riot to play with.. He's fast and his weapons suit his character perfectly. I'm a little dissapointed with Sideswipe, I was hoping he was gonna be alot faster but he is still really cool..His vehicle weapon got me quite a few kills last night
A word about expert mode..Wow..They really turned up the juice!!! I have yet to sniff out a platinum on expert yet..came close a few times but I never really go for plat's on the first run through . It sure is nice to have a bit of challenge this time though..I can't wait to see what kind of times are on the leaderboard!!!
We should try and get a Seibertron forum game going sometime.. I'd be down to player match you guys!

You can only use some characters in some missions. For example, G1 Megs is only usable in the very last level. Sideswipe is a usable character in a level where say Ironhide or Breakdown wouldn't normally be playable characters (because they are doing background dialog)
You could always play a few rounds in mulitplayer then you can get a real taste for them.
Posted by Tyrannotaur on September 4th, 2009 @ 6:07pm CDT
Other than that I need to get used to Soundwave and Sideswipe. G1 Megs, G1 Starscream and G1 Prime are all cool. I haven't gotten a chance to try out Jetfire. Jazz is good, but man is he cheap. I keep getting raped by people just spamming his "crescent missile" and then driving away. Annoys the hell out of me.
Posted by Trikeboy on September 7th, 2009 @ 6:16am CDT
G1 Starscream is the best of the bunch. He doesn't look out of place in a real world setting (unlike Prime and Megatron in the first game) and shows that they could have used G1 characters in the movie if they were done right. His weapons are devastating. The nullrays pack one heck of a punch and his homing missiles have a good range. The best thing is his Megatron special. It doesn't seem to be as powerful as Megatron's though as I haven't always had one hit kills with it. I achieved a better time on the final level using Starscream than any other Decepticon.
G1 Optimus Prime is a gem. He has the right look in both modes but you do miss the trailer. Transformation is right out of the G1 toy including the wheel arches under the arm. The best thing is the transformation sound. You hear it when transforming or selecting a weapon. The blaster is more powerful than the ROTF counterpart but he does play exactly the same. The only down side is that you can't use him in the final two story missions. The gold coloured special mode is a nice nod but is the same as the ROTF Prime. Don't see why since he could have used the jetpack from the first episode.
I will be online from time to time on PSN. Look for me under Trikeboy.

When playing as G1 Prime, if you do an advanced jump flames burst out from under his front grill ala TF:TM!
