DonMurphy.net- Rumors have started circling about the net that current Transformers screenwriters Robert Orci, and Alex Kurtzman will not be returning to write the script for the third installment of the Transformers live action movie trilogy.

"Not clear who is coming back yet, but the main reason we would move on is because we risk getting stale and comfortable. If you only sing one song for too long, you miss the opportunity to sing news songs. We'll see."

This comes from one of Mr. Orci's posting playgrounds, donmurphy.net.

This is a rumor, and of course, the writers do not seem to know at this point, but we would like to invite Mr. Orci to Seibertron.com to confirm or deny this rumor, and add in any two cents that he might want to.

What do you think? Do you want them to come back and write the third movie? Do you agree that it would be nice for someone else to give it a try?

Let us know what you think, and tune in here for Seibertron.com Movie News.

Maybe we should see the second one first.

I am totally thrilled at this news! I liked TF1 and the more I see about TF2 the less thrilled I get. Especially the human parts. Time for some new blood. My $.02... Let Simon Furman write the third movie, he is a damned fine scriptwriter (and no I am not talking about comic books).

The Wachowski Brothers or David Hayter would be interesting candidates. Just do not give it to the guy that wrote the DragonBall Movie or the writers that did the terrible video game movies.

Definitely want to see the second film before I weigh in on this. As much as I'd like to keep them on it, if the second one is terrible...

i agree. Though if tf 1 and 2 end up like x-men, then hopefully tf three would get a change of pace with new writers as x3 did with directorial changes.

dammit, now I'm getting hooked on rumours! :-x

Well thats one step in the right direction now all we need is to get rid of bay and we're set. I think David Hayter should do the next script. Every movie hes done he has stay true to the source material. And they have all kicked ass.

Hmm, I'd like to wait for the new movie and then comment... :P But anyway, maybe I'd like to see Simon Furman writing the script for the 3rd one.

The source material cant even stay true to the source material.

All of the "dump bay" stuff is pretty old by now. I was old in june of 07 and its not getting any better now. Just sounds like a broken record.

Now, y'all know that 'kitty here is almost to that 'Charlie's waiting for me in the jungle' level of Straight Up Paranoid. Consider that as you consider this:

I cry bullsh**. The reason given is entirely specious. Bogus. Crap. I mean, think about it: okay, this team keeps making good (pretend they are, Megatron Wolf!!) movies, or books, or songs or whatever. Let's ditch them because they keep making hits.

Huh?

That's about the same as saying, eh, Lucy and Desi get kinda old doing the same shtick. Bing Crosby and Bob Hope? Eh, who wants to hear them do *that* thing they do again. Considering how much 'comfort' people seem to like in the formulae for their TV shows and movies (can ANYONE tell the Pirates of the Caribbean movies apart?), I can't believe that *originality* is something Hollywood's now trying to lay claim to. It's either irony or hypocrisy. You pick.

Consider it from the producers' perspective: If you like what they're doing, you keep them. If you think they're making masterpieces, you keep them (think about how the cast of _Friends_ or _Seinfeld_ pulled all that long green their last few seasons). No one ever said, y'know, I think maybe someone else should play Kramer on _Seinfeld_, just because the same actor playing the same role, well, then that doesn't give any new actors a chance. It's ri*donk*ulous.

I'm guessing (remember Charlie out there rustling in my tall grass, mind you) that someone higher up doesn't think this upcoming movie is going to do well and is trying to 'course correct'. Were I a Hollywood producer, concerned only with profit, I'd be concerned that this movie won't do well. One: massive CGI budget. Two: So many robot characters, who don't have the instant sight recognition because of massive redesigns? Face it, *we* are Transformers geeks, and we can't look at a 'bot and instantly say, OH, that's X! You and I, we're willing to do the homework to learn who's who on sight before we see the movie. Is Jack who thinks Rambo's a great series when it doesn't have all that pesky Vietnam stuff in it going to be able to follow the action of what might seem to him like a bunch of nameless 'bots clomping each other? Three: Too much love for the fans makes a movie almost impenetrable for non-fans. That's what I learned from _Tank Girl_, anyway.

I also learned Ice-T looks cute in a mutant kangaroo suit. But that's not the point. The point is they didn't make a TG 2.

This is Hollywood cutting bait. Next step (I say, in my best Cassandra voice) is they're going to hire some creative team from some other shallow action blockbuster who know nothing about the continuities to make them a nice people-heavy plot.

'Sing new songs' is the new way of saying 'handwriting on the wall.'

HK, having flashbacks to a war I was never in.

NO!!!

They should stay on for Transformers 3, to keep the films consistent.

They should hire the guy who wrote Robocop III.

Wasn't Frank Miller the writer for Robocop 3? Not that it makes it any better, mind you.

But yeah I'll wait until I see the 2nd one before I decide whether or not I am happy about them leaving. I enjoyed the 1st movie but I had many issues with it as far as the writing was concerned and if the 2nd is more of the same or worse then I might be glad to see them go.

LOL you cannot PPOR an opinion. My $.02 which means my two cents or in In my Humble Opinion...

It actually read (which you edited out) as:
My $.02... Let Simon Furman write the third movie

I will add that I hope TF3 will have advanced the plot where the Sam Witwiki character will be old (and not in the movie directly) and a younger character take his place and go back to just a handful of bots with some decent character development in an exciting finale that actually is a finale. No more flooding (the adding of many characters) just to sell toys.

There was a rumor that Bay wouldn't return for the second one and he did. As much as I would love for them to change the creative team, I'd rather them do so in a reboot and not a continuation of what these guys already started ...

Don't worry, there's a support group for that...or so I've heard. :P

Wow, I can't decide if you are just braver than me or can simply run faster than the rest of us, but that is quite possibly the boldest suggestion I've heard in a long time, even if not totally serious.
You have my utmost respect and I'll be sure your family recieves a nice boquet. (I'm an ass and you know I'm just messing with ya. At least I'm honest about it :D )

I say have the boys finish out the initial trilogy. After that, I'm all for the earlier suggestion of the Wachowski Bros. getting their hands on this franchise. The guidelines have been established and I think they know full well that just having their name on it would not keep it from tanking if they messed with it too much. The only stipulation that ANY writer from this point on should have placed on them for certain is that Unicron DOES NOT EXIST in this movie-verse.
If Unicron enters the scene, I'll be Megatron_Wolfs #1 follower!
I'll kiss Wheelies shiny, metal ass before I accept Unicron in any new Movie plotline! No writer can pull that off without making the movie suck horribly and no amount of Bay's explosions can hide the lameness of the concept.

For let the second film be released, but as for the writing for the third film. Probably Bob Forward or Dave Hayter should take a crack at writing the third film.
