A quote from Pete Sinclair of Botcon indicated that this years Botcon set will feature "A Generation Lost." Which could be taken in several different ways at the time. Tonight Seibertron.com received a tip from a source whom wishes to remain anonymous that the set for Botcon 2010 will focus on Generation 2 characters. This source was unable to name molds or characters sadly.
The source also states that there will be fewer box sets made this year. A reason was not given however, and thus can only be speculated on.
This leaves the floor wide open to mold and character choice at this time. There are several G2 characters that were repaints of G1 characters, such as black Sideswipe, yellow and purple "camoflague" Onslaught, grey Starscream, purple and black Ramjet and so on. Of course there are plenty of other G2 characters that could be homaged by existing molds.
Keep in mind that this is only a rumour until further evidence is aquired.
Stay tuned to Seibertron.com as we find out more information on these upcoming figures! Also be sure to check out http://www.botcon.com for all official updates for the convention.

Those would me made of win.
Blue Grimlock?
I thought they don't reuse molds that have been used as past convention toys? Grimlock and Ramjet were in the 07 and 08 sets.
I wouldn't mind it, but I doubt we'll see anything G2. A Generation Lost probably means something taking place after the WOH set from last year.

Wasn't the policy that they wouldn't use the same molds two years in a row? Ramjetwas used in 07 so could be used in 09 and 10. Grimlock was in 08 so it could be feasable to be in this box. I hope not as they have done Grimlock twice (once as Overkill).
The only thing G2 I want are the Stunticons and Protectobots. Come on TFCC, get the molds form somewhere. The Seacons sold out almost instantly, so will they.

Well, it's not written in stone that they can't use previous botcon molds, I think they just want to avoid that as much as possible, but I think that they would use an older mold if the case called for it.
If this G2 rumor is true, then I would really, really love for FP to give us a G2 Ramjet deco. Didn't Pyro and Clench qualify as part of G2? If so, I'm tossing them in as the Botcon leaders for the set. Pyro from Cybertron Op Prime, hopefully in yellow and black. And Clench from G2 Hero Op Prime. Granted, we do already have this mold as RiD Scourge, but I think with a new head, this may work.

Judgement on these toys could be harsh depending on what they bring forward.

There Were The Axelerators; Rapido, Turbofire, Skram, And Windbreaker (Snicker...).
The Sky Scorchers; Windrazor, Eagle Eye, Afterburner, And Terradive.
The Cyberjets; Jetfire, Strafe, Air Raid, Skyjack, Space Case And Hooligan (Ok, Skip Jetfire, Air Raid, And Hooligan, They've Been Covered, Kinda.)
The Rotor Force; Manta Ray, Leadfoot, Ransack And Powerdive.
There Was The Laser Rods (I Know, Volt Got A Homage In The First Movie Line), The Laser Cycles , The Go-Bots (Silly Name, But Some Standouts Like Firecracker), And The Aqua Drenchers (Drench Was Used, But There Are Still Three Others), Heck, They Could Even Do Dreadwing And Smokescreen (Old Names, Cool New Molds).
I Realize I'm A Bit Longwinded About This, But, It Is My Belief That If They Really Want To Commemorate "The Generation Lost" Of Transformers Using A G2 Theme, They Should Look Into The Truly "Lost" Members Of The Transformers Canon.

Let's see:
- classics seekers -> G2 seekers (Starscream and Ramjet were the only released as I remember)
- metallic gold Bumblebee and red Cliffjumper from their Classic counterparts

1 ) Characters still on Cybertron during the time the Boss Bots and Boss Cons were in stasis on Earth.
2 ) The time period between G1 Season 2 and the Movie.
3 ) An alternate timeline branching from the movie, where they didn't get Unicron destroyed until after he ate Cybertron
Etcetera, etcetera...

Yes true, however my source (who predicted SDCC Blaster and others before they became known) predicts a G2 set. On his past track record I posted it as a rumour.

Cybertron Starscream as Jhiaxus (A MUST!!!)
Energon Starscream as Hooligan (we already saw it in the Wings of homour comic)
Robotmasters Mirage as Double Clutch
Energon Barricade as Mindset
Classics Seeker mold in G2 Ramjet colours BUT names Slipstream (Animated SS's colours are very reminiscent of G2 Ramjet to me and it would retcon a cool new Animated character into G1/G2)
Classics Starscream in G2 colours but as a brand new Seeker character (if this was done, those of us that have the G2 Seekers would instantly have new characters as many of us will not be able to buy the Botcon set anyway)
Remold the heads on the Animated Twins to give us one of those combining Cybertronain jets
Reissue G1 Sideswipe as Firecracker (never happen but I can dream)
Energon Starscream as Smokescreen
Cybertron Thundercracker as Space Case
If as some are speculating, it's not G2 but another TF era, I'd love it to be the Actionmaster era. We've already seen Banzai-tron and Overrun in the comics. Funnily, I've always seen Micromaster Energon Devestator as the Actionmaster character because of it's size. Classics Megatron needs a head remold and repaint as Treadshot.
Then again, we've also seen Japanese exclusive characters in the Con fiction with Leozack, Hellbat and the Autobot Pretender Commander whose name escapes me.

Agreed..That'd be fine by me... The one part that is got me worrying is the limited set number that will be produced..Will kind of eliminate those who would be on the fence about gettting them for the normal price versus the insane jacked up price..Gonna have to pull the trigger on this one fo sho'...

I see it as possible.

Makes a ton of sense actually.

If they do something with G2 but don't do anything with Defensor and/or Menasor, then I'll start thinking that we'll never get those toys. Until then, I'm still holding out hope for sets of those at some point.

Nothing is impossible, but I would rather see more redecos from classics mold as I feel they are superior to the original G1 / G2 molds. The color schemes are fun and would only see the light of day as Botcon figures.
Maybe there will be a twist and we'll get something off the wall like the desert camo ramjet or jungle strike starscream that were never produced...

Seibertron wrote:If it is G2 ... maybe we'll get a G2 Menasor and/or G2 Defensor set? You know those molds are just sitting somewhere. Heck, if that happens ... they could easily do the G1 set as well and sell both at the convention or maybe Takara could release the G1 versions in Encore. Either way would cut down on costs, though the Takara route would cut it down much more.

I don't know if we're going to see them. I'm really not sure the club has the cash flow to do it, in all honesty.
Don't get me wrong, I'd buy them a heart beat, but it just doesn't feel like something the club would do. The Seacons were an an exception since the figures were already produced and just sitting (if you believe Hasbro).
BTW, I love the "Wishful Thinking" tag!

TOTALLY AGREE.
There were 3 main reasons why I lost interest in TFs in the late '80s/early '90s:
1. The quality of the figures kept getting worse;
2. Actionmasters - "Transformers" that don't transform? WTF?; &
3. The initial waves of G2 were GARISH repaints of G1 figures (where's the "second" generation in that?).
I didn't even know there were new molds until it was too late.
The new molds you mention didn't get much treatment in the comics. THEY truly are a "lost generation."
