I figured the Dinobot and rock band sets would sell out before the Kreons, but maybe everyone is balking at the prices of the sets. They're charging a high premium for a cardboard mountain and some hot-glued scraps of fabric.

It'll probably still be around.
Dinobot set still not sold out! weird.

No, they don't hate them, they just aren't the proper subsidiary/division of Hasbro that handles distribution in the European market, just North America. They should open up a .uk shop for the UK market (and they may have already). I doubt they'd carry these even if they had such a site though, since it is a North American exclusive due to the location of the convention (same reason we don't get Takara/Japanese exclusives over here in the US unless someone like the TFCC works out a distribution deal with ehobby or whoever).
Still, it would be nice if they did set aside some of the con exclusives for the other markets. I know I'd appreciate it if the Japanese exclusives were easier (and cheaper) to get without requiring me to pay the hefty import fees.

Calling them up preemptively does not release the hold, but they can put a note on the order that you've already called in when their automated systems hold it and await confirmation to try and expedite the process.
Just going off what the CS rep just told me. Basically, if you call them today, and you get an email later that it's on hold due to the dollar amount, just call in again.

Really? I just called before and they told me everything is good to go. If anything I'll just call them again.

Everything went live 10:15ish EST? the 9:20 time stamp is CT on this site.

I'm in the over $300 range due to adding in a Black Series Jabba set, so may be a different set of rules for that amount vs. others. In other years, I've spent more than this and didn't have to do anything, so we'll see I guess. Another call won't kill anything and I'm glad they do that with those big orders to prevent fraud.

Weird then. Wonder why I couldn't see any thing but those 2 old little girl makeup set things when I checked in at 10am this morning? Oh well, 1 out of 2 ain't so bad, my wallet is grateful for that anyway.

No it makes sense. everything went live at around 10:15 eastern time. (You checked at 10 am eastern time) I posted the story on this site at 10:20 eastern time. but on this site it will use Central time which is why you see 9:20 am instead.

Ah ok. And darn, what's up with them not making these things go live on the hour? Either way, they really need a better way at timing these things.

I didn't want those [admittedly beautifully colored] Dinobots anyway - just Amazon Slog - but will anyone who doesn't want the box be willing to sell it?
I'm a spaceships/G1 kinda guy...
Just PM me!
Thanks in advance!

Do they really? From Hasbro's point of view they did hardly anything and sold out of a bunch of items. What is the benefit to Hasbro to spend the time and money to figure out a different system?
That being said, I missed out on the sets I was looking for and will take out my anger on Hasbro by buying more of their products in the future.
Wait, what?

For many SDCC exclusives (though not all, obviously) this works pretty well. I missed Bruticus in 2012 but ended up buying one about a year later for what it cost initially.

Yeah, I'm not too worried on that. I'll get it at some point if I really want it, and I'll wait for a good price. To be honest, I'm not anywhere near as stressed as I was missing out on Bruticus or Metroplex. I don't think the hype, whether my personal experience or the general consensus, was quite as high this time around.

I doubt it will happen in this case, but I was able to pick up the entire 2013 boxed set on clearance from BBTS for just $200 when they had it on sale a few weeks back. That was a hell of a deal and as long as they produced the Dinobots in sufficient numbers, it shouldn't be a problem after a little bit to pick up the entire set MISB for a somewhat reasonable price (similar to how it went with Metroplex).
I suspect that once Takara releases all of their AoE Dinobots in their metallic G1-ish color schemes, the price of this set (and Slog) will likely reduce at least a bit as some collectors offload the SDCC set to pay for the Japanese imports to replace these (though they might hold on to the box/playset).
Of course, it's possible that these, or a version of these, box and all or not will show up as another con exclusive in another country or more, kinda like they did with Metroplex where similar (though not quite identical as I recall) versions were released at other conventions/shows for other markets.
Anyway, while I am skipping all of these, I wish all of you good luck and good fortune in finding deals on them in some form or another down the road for those of you who seek to acquire them.

Yea, I also picked up the $200 box set (and was able to work out a deal to sell Hoist, Skywarp & Megaplex to Shajaki! Huzzah!) for Obsidian & Strika, as well as ACG Con Metroplex for $180. I'm hopeful that although I missed the Dinobots (and Thanos Imperative), I'll be able to pick them up for a reasonable price with time and patience.

It was by a long shot. However, a year from now 90% of forum users will be going "you guyz they go up on Monday!" the day after the convention forgetting the week discrepancy, and then complaining about it.

Eh, convention exclusives (or any exclusives, really) are seldom ever fair. At least if it is considered unfair to have a figure or figures which might be (and likely are, hence the whole 'exclusive' thing and higher price tags) desirable to collectors available to only a certain subset of collectors, either based on geography or access to a certain chain of stores or even a certain convention only (for cases where the exclusives never show up online at all outside of ebay and such).
I can't really comment on how fair it is or isn't, but I can definitely understand wanting to own something and not being able to for arbitrary reasons such as this, and it definitely does suck.

And somebody forgot the hot dogs and burgers for the grill. Like we planned last year.

Energon combiners never pleased me with their thin, candy-colored extremities and two-figures-per-mold philosophy for the Scout Class figures; neither did the more recent FOC Bruticus, whose QC issues and disproportionately small body ruined it for me.
Seeing a combiner with good limb proportions and with such a lavish amount of inspiration from G1 is surprising and wonderful. Should these newer figures avoid the QC issues I've had with FOC Bruticus, I don't see I can find issue with them.
