Haha, I knew there was something out there that did it. I had those too. What I also loved as a kid was dinosaur skeleton kits that came in plastic eggs. Megablocks did that too with their dragons recently.

That cryogenic shell would be cool packaging, but they probably feared for the extra effort/cost it would just get trashed, or obscure the toy too much or too hard to make it 'secure'. ????
