So why is Alpha Trion called Sentinel Prime? You cant tell me that sentinel does not look a lot like trion. We finally get an Alpha Trion and bay fucks up the name, wait why am i surprised about that? Took a look at the spoilers and still not going to waste 15 bucks to see this movie, but i am more inclined to maybe check out a bootleg or see it on HBO. And i have the feeling Trypticon is in the movie.

I think it does bear a great deal of resemblance to Alpha Trion, BUT I don't necessarily think Bay intentionally named him Sentinel Prime to spite the fans. I suspect that since Alpha Trion may or may not be a multiverse singularity (akin to Primus, Unicron, or the Fallen) and thus would be one of the 13 Original Transformers, Hasbro may have chosen to not allow the use of the name until they sort all that out to avoid any confusion brought about by having multiple, contrasting Alpha Trions.

FANTASTIC.

The shot of those two is just overwhelmingly awesome.

Is it just me, or does Sentinel's chest look somewhat like a face?

I'm with Joker's Requium. I don't think anybody would be remiss for stating an opinion that Sentinel Prime looks like Alpha Trion. There was a story that had some comparisons based on the teaser trailer. (Not sure if I should mirror the pic here.)

http://toomuchnews.com/headline/teaser-trailer-%E2%80%98transformers-dark-of-the-moon%E2%80%99/

I mean, it's not a spot on rendition, but a lot closer than say Megatron, Starscream, or Soundwave, in my opinion. To say they look nothing alike, to me, is not at all accurate. In my opinion, I think he looks a lot like Alpha Trion.

If anything, it's not Sentinel Prime messing Alpha Trion, it's Alpha Trion messing up Sentinel. IDW and Animated Sentinel Prime were cool. Alpha Trion was a terrible cliche. Apart from Scourge and Unicron, I think TF's with facial hair look silly.

However, I will admit that this new Sentinel Prime does carry it well. Be nice if he were less similarly coloured to Optimus. He seemed more gold in the trailer.

What about Wreck-Gar's facial hair?

Also, I think the teaser was Sentinel in his ship, pre-earth mode. Still, a yellowish-green firetruck would have worked too, methinks.

Sly, take a chill pill my friend. Regadless whether or not you agree with him, your taking all this way to seriously. personally, I do think he bares a simular look to Alpha Trion compared to the 80's cartoon. But using him as Sentinel Prime works as well.

Megatron Wolf-
We've only seen two 30 second clips and a 2 minute teaser that really just showed SP. And the second clips didn't show that much more than the first. So lets call it about 45 sec. of footage. So why not go see the movie based on this? And if your answer is because of past movies, stop living in the past and be alittle open minded.

I like what i see with the Screen shots of both Optimus and Sentinel. Both look great, and the weapons look fantastic! Teasers are getting better and better each time!

Which Sentenel Prime are you thinking of? I'm not trying to pick a fight, just wondering which version you are comparing to. As far as I remember (and in looking at Google Image Search, which requires sifting through the TF3 and Animated Jay Leno versions) Sentenel was gold colored, but did not have any facial hair and had a head more resembling Hot Rod than Alpha Trion.

That's because those are both the same Sentinel Prime. And that Sentinel Prime does bear a more than passing resemblance to this guy: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Alpha_Trion_%28disambiguation%29 and not so much to this guy: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Sentinel_Prime in any of their continuity forms...

I can see the Alpha Trion resemblance, but I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing. This isn't G1, this is an entirely different universe. If anything it's a nice little G1 nod. I can't wait to see the movie and own the Sentinel Prime figure.

I couldn't agree more. There's definitely a resemblance. But the name is really unimportant to me. I think naming him a previous Prime makes more sense, especially for the film going community at large. It doesn't make much sense for a "Trion" to precede Optimus as "Prime"

I'll give you points for trying El Duque and for a brief moment I was going to say something about it as well but folks are only going to hear and see exactly what they want to hear and see. No more and no less. Some of what was flying around, speculation wise, over at TFW2005 went far beyond the absurd and I shudder to think what kind of tripe filled rumors are going to come from such ill-conceived speculation.

As for the spoilers they listed, I can't say as I'm the slightest bit surprised or impressed by a single thing I read.

The rest of you however are free to check it out for yourselves and knock yourselves out coming to ridiculous conclusions based on zero evidence of anything.

I thought that about Sentinel's expression, too!

I love how he looks so fierce, yet as an Autobot he'll most likely have a sense of honour, plus he seems older than the others, which adds experience to the mix...So yeah; 'fierce loyalty' is how he appears to me, a bit like a Lion! :P

5150, MegWolf tends to troll anything Bay related and often anything not G1 related. I was putting money on him to badmouth these absolutely awesome pics (it was between him and Griftimus)...I suggest paying him no heed.

As for these pics, they are absolutely AWESOMESAUCE. New Op looks more powerful...the "wings" on his back are gone...and I am LOVING the BFG. Sentinel looks like a badass too...can't wait for this.

Seriously? Stop living in the past? Wouldn't that make this 26 year old toy franchise obsolete? Denying you pleasure of these truly bad movies? I'm gonna see it, I'm gonna buy the toys, there will be things I like about this one just like the other two, but seriously, these films are bad MOVIES. Poor filming, underdeveloped plots, one dimensional characters, sour cinematography, bad acting....it goes on and on. They are fun, and great for Transfans, but as far as movies.....really? Do you expect something epic and moving?

Is it to late to do some last minute voice-overs and have this guy be Alpha Trion ??? Thats who he looks like to me. He's red and very old looking. Plus there is only one living Prime. OPTIMUS PRIME. The others are all dead in a cave in the middle east. The character Sentinal Prime might be cool for comic book fans but doesnt go with the movie storyline at all.

Let's drop the rhetoric and debate about whether or not these are good movies. Everyone's entitled to their opinions. I loved the first Transformers film, not the biggest fan of the 2nd one but I don't think it's quite as horrible as everyone says it is (myself included), and I have big hopes for the 3rd because it just looks darker in tone ... and the Decepticons invade my city. Pretty frikkin' cool. If you don't like the films, that's fine, but don't hate on the folks that do enjoy the films.

Bottom line is this: the Transformers films are remarkable that they're even here. They're live action films about a toy line that has survived since 1984. This has never happened on a scale like this before with a toy line first then a movie.

My bad fella's. I forget text doesn't deliver the lighthearted fun-poking I intend. Do this, read my comment again, and pretend Lewis Black is saying it. That way it'll be more the rant of a harmless "fanboy". :D

I agree with you on the first one being better than 2nd. I liked it enough. I even painted my '79 Camaro like Bumblebee.

Go ahead and love the movie, buy up the toys, contribute to Hasbro's bottom line. I have no delusions that without these movies, Transformers would be more likely to fade away. Hopefully they make enough money to keep this toy in production, no matter what form it takes on.

I don't mean to troll the movie subject. I also realize that the movie will ofcourse appeal to many people. Thats kinda the idea. Sorry homies.

Because Sentinel is red I guess? I didn't get it either.

Never understood the animosity towards TF facial hair. Sure, it doesn't logically make sense for an alien robot to have facial hair. It also doesn't logically make sense for an alien robot to have a nose, mouth, two eyes, two arms, two legs, a distinct head, or the innate ability to transform into a vehicle. Logically all transformers should have their robotic features and vehicular features accessible simultaneously, resulting in a sort of freakish cyborg-bug look, and should hide themselves by becoming invisible. After all, in a universe where Hound can project holograms, Mirage can become invisible, and Megatron can fly with no discernible means of propulsion and shoot city-obliterating nuclear beams from an optical scope, why would you disguise yourself as a VW Bug?

Of course, if you just think beards look stupid in general, then that's purely an aesthetic issue that we have to agree to disagree on.

Sentinel Prime and OP look really cool. The hype is finally getting to me and I am ready to watch this film.

The Ferrari is a Con huh? Only way I see that happening from the footage we have seen so far is a TFA Longarm/Shockwave type thing or maybe a P/CP homage.

Wow, I expected Sentinel's face to be less... human-like. Here's my theory about DOTM: I think something vital to Shockwave/Megatron is somewhere in Chicago, and the 'Cons have besieged the city, blocked all communication from the outside, and put some sorta satellite-scrambler-thingy-ma-bob around the city. Since no one can go in or out, the 'Bots send in the Glider boys to distract the Decepticons while they slip behind and check out what they're after. I dunno, but that's what I'm going with til' e get either more info or I see the movie myself. :-?

I loved the first Transformers film, not the biggest fan of the 2nd one but I don't think it's quite as horrible as everyone says it is (myself included), and I have big hopes for the 3rd because it just looks darker in tone ... and the Decepticons invade my city. Pretty frikkin' cool. If you don't like the films, that's fine, but don't hate on the folks that do enjoy the films.

Remember what I said earlier that the Decepticons might be looking for something vital to winning the Autobot-Decepticon War? Watch, we're watching the movie, and Megatron goes "We must look for the human designated as Seibertron!". Then we see Backout's twin's twin holding you in his hand. It's a small world after all!

Well, 2 things.

First, there is a psychological mechanic where your personal preferences fill in the blanks of any image you perceive to make it 'easier' to digest. At the same time, the parts that don't fit the predetermined image appear to have a higher contrast, disrupting the predetermined image, then they actually do. I wish I could remember what it was called. It's the principle behind the Rorschach tests. Basically, you can't tell another person what they are seeing, because they are seeing it differently then you.

Second was the fact that his torso can be perceived as a giant red head. Thanks to the twincast, i learned about Linkara who did a review of Kool-aid man #1. I watched it yesterday and the imagery was fresh in my head when i saw this story. I thought for a second about bay's love of explosions and pictured SP crashing through a wall going "Oh Yeah."

I guess my post was more stream of consciousness then an obvious pun or joke on the subject matter. my bad.

However, I do have a bad feeling about the 'Bad Boys 2' vibe of the spread. Another Bay Classic.

Awesome! I'm really looking foward to this movie more than ever! Both Primes look great to me and I hope they are really badass in the movie. But I don't want them to be so badass that Megatron/Starscream/Shockwave get completely owned in less than a minute.... I hope Megatron and Starscream will be really tough and intimidating like they were in the first movie; from what Bay said Shockwave is set to be really bad, but I just hope he doesn't get a Fallen death. And I hope Megatron and Starscream escape alive. :CON:

Interesting,
I went to the stands to pick up EMPIRE, and instead they had Jack Sparrow and a in depth interview about Pirates 4. There was only one page mentioning "Moon" and it only features a pic of Shia swinging a bit of rubble at yet another accide....oh wait that was from the film? Never mind. :-$

I like that they gave this Bots design more meat along his limbs. Dunno how I feel about their design take on his mustache, feels too organic. As an artist my big thing is faces, so naturally I'm picking apart the facial design...the rest of him look great though. Especially that giant dual sword.

Well Sentinel looks a hell of a lot better there than the toy does. Looking forward to seeing the custom repaints of the toy to match the CGI model much closer in details and paintwork. I'm glad Optimus ain't changed too much (though it does bug me that like many others they use the word 'all-new' for something that isn't all new at all). Very much looking forward to this film and have been watching the first two on blu ray quite a lot lately. Shame eyecandy Fox ain't in it though. I ain't much into blondes.

Sentinel Prime looks badass. He looks like a wise, battle hardened warrior. It's good to see the new Optimus and his mech tech cannon.
