After that, they showed a clip from the movie featuring Shia trying to hide the Autobots in his backyard. He does his best to keep his father from coming outside, and is somewhat successful. That is, until Optimus Prime steps on a stone fountain!
Then, Jay challenged Shia to transform the Optimus Prime figure during the commercial break. It appears that Shia was unsuccessful, as Terry Bradshaw had the figure when they came back from break.
Update:
The clip that they showed during the show has now been placed on YouTube! Click here to see the clip!

The episode is on right now. (11:45PM Eastern Standard Time) Jay's doing his monologue.
I'll give the details after Shia's done.
Oh, and Goo Goo Dolls did their song for the movie a couple nights ago.
I just seen it. Shia plugs the movie, brings out two Leader Class Optimus Prime's (one in truck mode, the other in robot mode).
They show a clip of him trying to hide the Autobots in his backyard from his dad.
Lastly, Jay is making Shia transform Optimus from one mode to another during commercial. We'll see if he is successful when they come back from break.
Shia failed!
Anyway, FP and C'd Shadowman.

They're kind of fake to me, in the way they move, but hopefully that won't matter much. I'm so pumped about this movie now.
The music was pretty funny too.
Is it just the movie clip? I want to see the whole bit of him on the show.
Oh and, this is what you're getting people. Watch the clip. This is the kind of thing you're getting. No use crying about it now.

Aren't their alt modes for hiding? Shouldn't they have just parked on the street and waited?
I have not seen the movie yet, so I can't say how it fits with the whole thing, or why they would insist on being in robot mode there, but it was just something I've been pondering.

As for the "why aren't they in alt mode?" problem people are having, it's a case of aliens on our planet who aren't sure of how they should act in a particular situation. This leads to a naturally funny scene. When Sam then asks them to be more inconspicuous, they transform and sit right there on the lawn (not much better...).
I cannot WAIT for this movie!!

if every scene in every movie made sense, they'd all be documentaries. Just go with it.

God! This movie is beautiful!

I never really liked Shia. I just thought he was a kid of my age with a big mouth who tried to be cool. But he is a pretty good actor. Although some funny parts are a bit typical, I quite like his performance.

Big suprise......It was horrific. I was starting to come around to the idea of this being a big dumb giant robot kick ass special effects movie and then they went all unfunny slapstick on me! It made me feel sick and quite embarrassed to call myself a transformers fan to see Prime, Bumblebee and Ironhide reduced to a low rent three stooges act. This just confirms to me what I've suspected all along, no one making this movie has the slightest idea what Transformers is/was. RIP Transformers.

Yes Big Surprise that you didnt like it. I don't know at what point Transformers became such high quality that it is set with high expectations. In my opinion this is a step up from anything done within the last ten years when it comes to transformers and frankly if G1 would have never existed this movie would set the benchmark that any further Transformer series would be set upon.

It wasn't entertaining it was embarrassing, it was unfunny it was poorly executed low brow derivative slapstick nonsense. I wasn't expecting deep, I never have, I was expecting a movie that showed some respect/resemblance to the Transformers I know and love, that is not what this is, are those standard really so high?

I never expected this movie to reach the high standards set by the Marvel G1 comics, Beast Wars/Machines or IDW (all far superior to this tripe IMO) but I had hoped it would be a good movie. I'm really sorry I'm not jumping cartwheels with the rest of you guys but aside from the special effects this movie looks shit. I was hoping for better than shit.

Well guess what? That's how Transformers has been handled since 1984.
What would make you happy, big, ugly-ass clunky robots that transform in two moves. (And it's never the same two moves) How about stories written for children? Oh! How about we hire some cheap Asian animation just to save a couple bucks? Of course, we'd have to have continuity AND animation errors.
Look, if you're embarrassed by THIS clip, then what happens when you go out on a date, and tell the girl you collect Transformers? Transformers is for kids, you know.

So far 2 1/2 pages of other peoples responces show that your opinion is in the minority. Granted it is still your opinion so there is no wrong or right to it. Some of it comes down to "how would I react in a situation like that" Think back to your childhood prhaps, have you ever tried so hard to hide something from someone that you were getting caught up on your own words or just trying to hold someone off long enough for something to get done. Now just think if what you were trying to hide was 4 huge robots in your backyard.
Its not slapstick comedy, its is just comedy plain and simple. It just doesnt live up to your representation of what comedy should be. Just as this isnt living up to your representation of what transformers should be, doesnt mean it is shit. One mans trash in another mans treasure.

Agreed. I just didn't want this thread to go past without you treasure hunters getting the other guys opinion. And aside from the G1 cartoon I belive this movie is more childish and low brow than any other TF fiction. I see this movie as a giant leap backward not a brave step forwards and I'd much rather see another cheap Japaneses made cartoon series with simplistic transformations if it meant a better story with better characterization. That's my opinion, I know on this board I'm in a minority but that;s just because most people who feel the same as me have already given up posting here. Maybe I should do the same.

Oh then we best get Ryan to shut this forum down until the movie has been released then, because according to you nobody here (except Burn and one or two others) really has any right to comment on this movie negatively OR positively. No I haven't see it, and I don't pretend to have done, but I don't think that disqualifies me from commenting what I have seen and read about the movie. I would, if I had the same level of attachment and expectations of potential granduer(not sure if thats the right word to use, but you get the idea). I am going in knowing that the base elements of what made me like transformers 22 years ago are still there with necessary updates for the new millenium. For me it will be a 2 hour joyride back to my childhood and remembering why the 80's were the best decade for certain cartoons and toylines. I'm not going to bitch if they don't mention the matrix or the fact that bb cant talk for the time being. I'm going go into the theater on the third, sit my fat ass in a chair and get lost in wonderment for 2 hours. Now isnt that what going to the movies should be about?
Posted by Kayevcee on June 14th, 2007 @ 2:37pm CDT
So... yeah. Not without precedent, and in Marvel UK of all places, which is apparently more mature and way above this sort of thing.
I thought it was a cracking clip, and it sets the tone nicely for a fun family adventure, which is exactly what I feel TF should be aiming for.

You can't judge a movie by random, less than minute-long clips or commercials. You have to go see it in the theater. And honestly, you can't expect the movie to suck because you don't like one short part or anything like that. Seriously, chill out. If you have nothing positive to say, at least try not to force your opinion onto others.

You have to understand that the Transformers are used to a metal planet made for robots their size with no art like that to step on, or anything small to step on for that matter. None of them are used to it and have to adjust. Don't expect them to automatically adjust to being on Earth like in G1 or any other cartoon.
This movie also isn't childish, it's PG-13. Granted, it's founded on a childish subject (like the Spidey movies), and you can expect to see kids there. Also like the Spidey movies, the small kids there will be scared out of their minds from the violence and Megatron, who looks like he could eat you.

I'm betting that this movie will be way way way more intense than any of the Spiderman movies. And that makes me very very happy. It would just be so cool if Bay took the Samurai Jack approach and made the Robots' oil like blood. Talk about bad ass. We'll know soon enough!

Yeah I know its not without precedent and yeah I guess I need to get a grip. However with ever clip I see of this movie, every shred of information on the designs, the story, the characters I feel less and less like I want to be in anyway associated with Transformers and more depressed that this movie is taking the franchise back to it's roots in a childish generic action series designed to sell toys to kids. I guess I shouldn't take it so seriously, it is after all aimed at children. But that has always been my problem, collecting Transformers has never been about nostalgia for kids toys and cartoons for me its been about the characters and stories developed from that, its about what developed out of that silly little 80s cartoon and toy line. I guess I'm just annoyed that the movie makers chose to concentrate on the Transformers very early origins as inspiration and not the deep rich mythology that has been built around it since then. I hate big dumb action movies with light but 'entertaining' plots that say 'hey sit down switch off you brain and prepare to marvel at all the pretty lights and pictures', those sort of movies bore the shit out of me, and its difficult for me to see something I've invested so much time, effort and passion into become something I've always fought against....the mainstream.
Edit: oh and Autobobby1 I haven't forced my opinion on anyone. I'm just having my say that is what discussion forums are all about. There is clearly no way I'm going to convince any of you to change you minds (and in some cases even take on board my opinions) about this movie and that is not my intention. Anyway I've said my piece and in doing so I've realized just how futile it all is so I think I'll take my leave from Seibertron.com for the foreseeable future.

I'm going to agree with you on your point of it seems very un-Prime-ish, but listen to this:
If you were 30 foot tall robot trying to walk through a cramped (to your POV) neighborhood, how agile would you be without stepping on anything?
Here's the part where I read way far into this. By having Optimus carefully walk around Sam's home, it showing us he's trying to avoid destroying anything, while a Decepticon would plow through without a second thought. I think these little details are put in the film in order to show us the differences between the two factions, despite being the same specise they're drastically different from one another. This story telling tactic is the film makers trying to make the Transformers seem more Human-and therefore more believable.
