Updates: The prototype shot is actually an older image by a customizer, though it does bear striking similarities to the concept art and the two are likely related. It still gives us a good idea of what the set will look like.
It also appears the "Apex" portions of the upgrade will be next year's exclusive. Visit the Slagacon website for additional information.
That’s right! Vector Zeta is back and available to pre-registrants! This add-on armor set is designed to attach to a certain classic good-guy leader, and is exclusive to Slagacon 2011. This will be available in limited quantities, and only available to pre-registrants.
Due to the short production run, Vector Zeta will be available for $175. After pre-registration, any available stock remaining will be available at the convention for purchase. Once they are gone, that will it! So get your registration in and get your hands on this sure-to-hot item!

I agree. They put way too much in the lower legs.

This would be a decent addition to the collection.

I DID originally want it, based on the concept art. At that point, I THOUGHT we were getting a COMPLETE Powermaster Prime w/ Apex Armor for $175. HAD that stayed the deal I thought it was, I'd have no problem forking over the money.
NOW, I've heard that the blacked out bits in the concept art (the Apex Armor bits) are NOT INCLUDED. The Apex Armor is Slagacon 2012's exclusive.
With that piece of knowledge, I'm no longer interested. $175 is WAY TO MUCH for just the first half of the trailer. If that price is any indication, you will surely be paying $125 OR MORE next year for the second half.
Some may be happy with an ADD ON KIT for Classics Optimus Prime costing $300 OR MORE, but I will be passing.
I'll be using the money saved to either buy Maketoy Giant or the first half of TFClub Hercules.

Ah I see, thanks for the info. I'll update the frontpage to let folks know it's an "older" prototype pic, but still gives a decent idea of what this thing will look like.

Yer I do appologise I didn't make it clear enough about the pic. Set looks great, but when I read some people were not sold on the 'prototype' pic I thought I better jump on it and clearify it was early work. I am not even sure if its the same maker also. I only came to that conclusion as the artwork was very similar. So if anyone is going to be boo'd at its me.

Exactomundo. Pricetag and resin are two swift kicks to the balls that will end a lovely evening.
LOST Cybertronian wrote:The concept drawing looks great, the prototype not so much.
To be fair though, the prototype does look very prototype-y. I'd have to imagine if you're targeting the 'MUST HAVE EXCLUSIVES' fans and 'GIMME LIMITED RUN' folks, the item has to be killer. Recall that Master Collector's Nova Prime? I'd still do sexual favors for one of those, resin be damned. I still hit them up about every month to bug them that they need to get with another 3rd party and get a plastic-mass-selling-project going on. I'm sure they hate me at this point, but I hate them for limiting the epic awesome. I'd expect almost the same from the final product in this instance. The Powermaster feel for Classics Prime (something I know others have wanted forever and I've been hitting Fansproject up with as a suggestion about every other week - you can do the same on their website, they allow you to submit ideas!) coupled with some Apex love, there will be a following with the bank to drop on it. The finalized item should kick all sorts of ass, im-suspected-o.
NemesisMonkeySupreme wrote:Why does everything have to be "exclusive this," "convention that"?
Seriously, just sell the damned thing!!!
Damn right. It's not like there's a lack of demand for these things. Definitely has to be a price-driver-upper. But, as much as we all hate it, in this world's economy I can't blame them. I wouldn't do the same, because I don't suck like that, but I can't really blame them.

Sorry, off & on out of the loop on new stuff. What's this G1Uppers Firemaster upgrade?? Does it go with Classics Optimus??
Cyber_Tek wrote:Next year? Forget it. I'll have a Classic Prime and two armor/trailer sets by then. They can keep this "conference exclusive".
Which armor/trailer sets are you referring, out of curiosity? Just wanting to make sure there's not some Classics Prime material out there I'm not either in possession of or looking to pick up already.

Actually it goes with Animated Optimus Prime, I know apples and oranges and there is no real prototype yet but it can't be much worse than this.

I've been looking at Classic Prime and Ultra Magnus. So far, I've noticed these armor sets for them at TFSource.com:
*Classics City Commander Trailer set- $249
*TFCon Powered Convoy- $259
And then there is this Vector Zeta Slagacon 2011 Exclusive at $175? Seems a bargain compared to the other two armors. But aren't there other armor sets that care compatible with the Classics Prime?

There were several different types of armor kits
City Commander: Upgrade for the Ultra Magnus repaint
D.I.A. Clone Commander: Homage’s to the deleted scene of a blue, black and red Ultra Magnus. As well as I believe one of the original Diaclones. An upgrade for the Classics OP
Powered Commander: the same as D.I.A. Clone Commander but with chrome details Upgrade for Classics OP
Shadow Commander: It a black and purple repaint that goes with the Shattered Glass SDCC Prime (I think)
Victor Zeta: homage’s God Ginrai, the leader of the Autobots from Super-God Masterforce

I pulled the trigger on that order. TFSource.com. Around $80 plus shipping. Everywhere else, the same Classics OP was $80 or more before shipping. The Ultra Magnus was $99, so Classics OP it is. It will be very economical to have one OP that is compatible with multiple armor sets. It may even be compatible with my G1 Trailer. We shall see. And I should note that I got a Japanese Classics Prime, not the American Walmart Exclusive Classics Prime, if that matters.
I'm going to ask because I don't know, but what is bad about "resin", regarding the Vector Zeta?

I'm not really sure, I think that resin when used in toys becomes rather fragile

Not quite. It's for the SDCC Nemesis Prime. No current armor or trailer is specifically for Shattered Glass Optimus.
godzillabot wrote:I'm not really sure, I think that resin when used in toys becomes rather fragile
I've got a couple of resin items (most through Shapeways mind you) but I've never had any problems with fragility.
For the Optimus mold I currently have the first run City Commander (with the FP upgrade missiles and rifle) for Magnus, the FP G3 trailer for Optimus Prime, and the BTS-01B Nemesis Command Center for Nemesis Prime.
If I do manage to pick up the Vector Zed (or whatever random gibberish they call it) I'm not sure if I'd put it on the Classics Prime or the Henkei Convoy.
And after seeing those prices the mold goes for I'm glad I picked them up at retail or on preorder!

It's for the Henkei version and yes it's homage to the Powered Convoy toy, which was used for G1 Ultra Magnus.

No chrome, the DIA version has the chrome.
This one is made to fit the Classics Prime, has a special TFCon Toronto sticker, and a "lunch box" whish is also only available in this version. Also this is the rarer and more expensive one.

Yeah I agree. Depending on how the resin is made, it isn't brittle or will fall apart in your hands but it should be handled with care.

There has been a lot of interest in our exclusive for Slagacon 2011, the Vector Zeta armor set, and we thank everyone who’s purchased one so far. One of the most common requests we’ve seen, both here and on TF fan boards across the ‘net, is the desire for a non-attendee package. After much deliberation, we’ve decided to open up Vector Zeta to the general public.
Here’s how it will work:
On the “Pre-registration” page will be a new category, “Non-Attendee”. This is where you’ll be able to order the Vector Zeta armor. A non-attendee set will run $190 + shipping & handling. Shipping will be via USPS using Flat Rate Priority Mail, and includes insurance and delivery confirmation (where available).
All non-attendee packages will be mailed out shortly after the convention in October. If you’ve already ordered a Vector Zeta armor set along with the Attendee package, and aren’t able to make it to the convention, we’ll contact you after the convention to arrange for shipping/handling payment.
We thank you for having patience with us as we work through our growing pains. We hope to see you at Slagaon 2011!
“Vector Zeta” is the name we have given a new custom armor set, designed to work with Hasbro’s Classics Optimus Prime figure. This cast resin kit will be distributed completely assembled, along with a sheet of stickers for additional detailing. The creator of this set has limited his production to 100 sets. Because of this, and the cost of production, we’ve set our price at $175 for the kit.
In 2012, we will have second set to work with this one, inspired by the “Apex Armor” from Hasbro’s “Powermaster Optimus Prime”. This will include a second trailer, as well as two smaller figures, one of which transforms into a new head for the figure. We do not yet have a price for this set, but will post it as soon as it is available.

This thing seems nice, but it's double the price I'd pay.
Posted by fenrir72 on August 1st, 2011 @ 8:39am CDT
I mean, it ain't complete! You need to get to a freakin' 'con to get the add-on? In FP's CC case, though they did implement an extra accessory version( one for version 1 and version 2) it was in a more consumer/fan friendly price.
This is like milking it too much for a company that that is starting out. Even using resin? This is like so impractical. Should have used ABS/PVC.
Again, it ain't like they're holding a gun to my head but just giving my 2 cents worth.
But if FP does this, I'll be like there in the line yesterday.
