"Michael Bay, we owe you and apology
And you owe me $15 for Transformers Rise of the Beasts"
Go to the 9:30 minute mark if you want to see the joke.
Of course, it turns out ROTB was not a film made by Michael Bay.

While The Last Knight's largely forgotten outside our circles, it would've made a better cheap-shot punchline in this context. I feel like someone still owes me for brain trauma I got from seeing TLK in the theater.

Totally agree. I thought a similar thing when I watched his monologue. Speaking of Tolkien, I notice Colbert is VERY silent on "Rings of Power". He speaks to the actors when they are guests when he has to but only keeps conversations about the show very brief and then never says a word about it.
