I would have noticed, Randy, but for some reason I stopped receiving email notifications for that thread, and only just now realized that I was two whole pages behind in catching up with it.Powered Convoy wrote:I posted this a couple of days ago in the Selects thread:

In the year 2011, the battling Chief Convoy and Galvatron were called into another dimension by a mysterious existence!
Galvatron: Wha? So have Convoy and I died!?
Thus the two were shown the future they were destined for!
Convoy: Ah...
Galvatron: Enough play! I'll kill you first!
Convoy: Wait, Galvatron! Maybe this being is...
Primus: Children of the stars... the world is now in crisis...
Galvatron: What is this!?
Convoy: The Earth!
Primus: Bring back the proper history with the power of the Silver Matrix!
Convoy: Ah... I feel it! The "Power of Stars"!
Convoy: Transform! Is this a vision of the future... a prototype, in another words?!
By the light of the Silver Matrix carrying the power of universal creation
Convoy's body was upgraded!
Galvatron: Convoy, you fool! He said you will die in the future!
Behold! This form is the new Star Warrior, Star Convoy!
Star Convoy: You do not understand, Galvatron!
Star Convoy: Silver Matrix Combine!
Star Convoy: Matrix Weapon, Big Bang Cannon!
Star Convoy: Even if this body will be sacrificed in the future, let it! If I am to die with a shining star on my chest, I think I will be proud of it.
Star Convoy: That is the Cybertron soul!
Star Convoy: The light is extinguished... did it leave for another world? Thank you... Primus.
Thus, the world's crisis was ended... but...
Galvatron: I see now! The deaths the future will bring! Everything is my destiny and also that power of stars.
Galvatron: I, Galvatron, have this!
Note: The narration line of "Behold! This form is the new Star Warrior, Star Convoy!" has been slightly edited by myself to read a bit better, as the original translation of it read as "Look! This figure is the new Star Warrior, Star Convoy!"
Also, the "Cybertron soul" bit refers to that of the Autobot faction, not Planet Cybertron.
The glowing yellow head is Primus, based on the design of the G1 Rodimus Prime toy's head, in reference to the old Lucky Draw Primus toy that was a chrome redeco of the Rodimus Prime toy.
With this taking place in 2011, it comes before The Headmasters cartoon, as the viewscreens at top of the first page show Optimus and Galvatron each witnessing their respective final deaths in that show.

Sorry about that! I thought I had seen it in the comic forum before, but couldn't find it and thought maybe I really only saw it in the inbox. Though Cyberpath actually emailed it to us about the same time you posted it, it just took a while before one of us were available to news it.
And I'm glad we have a translation. It's pretty much what I thought it was about, but for the life of my I couldn't figure what the floating gold head was.

This comic follows on directly after the end of the previous Star Convoy comic, and kinda jumps around from flashback to present to flashback to present rather than flowing chronologically. Also, unlike most Japanese manga, this comic reads from left-to-right.
To help better understand this comic, back in the Star Convoy comic, Convoy (Optimus Prime) and Galvatron were pulled into another dimension by Primus, who showed them their future deaths that awaited them (in the Headmasters cartoon) as well as a future enemy that was coming to attack this world. Convoy accepted his fate and resolved to save this world from said enemy, being temporarily upgraded into Star Convoy to drive the enemy off. Thus, Convoy was sent back to his homeworld while Galvatron, who had not accepted his fate, remained behind, seeking a power of his own to avoid his fated death.
In this comic (scroll below if you want to read it first before reading this little summary), Galvatron is happened upon by this world's version of Turtler and Halfshell, who are space pirates and not subordinates of Galvatron. They offer to make a deal with Galvatron that will give him the same power that Convoy had received, in exchange for their extracting the Angolmois Energy from within Galvatron (which he has since he was originally upgraded by Unicron). Galvatron reluctantly agrees and, while he is in stasis, Halfshell uses the extracted Angolmois Energy to upgrade Turtler into a new form (based on the look of his new Selects toy), dubbing him the new "King of the Seacons."

- Turtler and Halfshell are "brothers", though in what context (familial, in-arms) remains to be seen
- Seacons are a Decepticon clan of some sort?
- Turtler's new form uses a form of Unicron's life energy
- With the Unicron energy siphoned from Galvatron, he may revert to a Megatron-like form. This sets the stage for the upcoming Super Megatron toy.

The term used in the text is 同型 (dōkei), meaning "same type". "Brother" was used to convey the sense that the two merely share the same body-type.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Turtler and Halfshell are "brothers", though in what context (familial, in-arms) remains to be seen
Space pirates, basically, like those from Beast Wars Second who were their own unit.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Seacons are a Decepticon clan of some sort?
I've my own theory on this. With this being Galvatron from between G1 Season 3 and The Headmasters, and his having his Angolmois Energy extracted from his body in this comic, I'm wondering if this might be an attempted explanation for why Galvatron is no longer ragingly mad during The Headmasters. As though to say the lava bath on Thrull might have actually just destabilized the Angolmois Energy within him, driving him insane in the first place, and now with its removal here this could explain why he's much more sound-minded in The Headmasters.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:With the Unicron energy siphoned from Galvatron, he may revert to a Megatron-like form. As Sabrblade has been a long fan of the Legends Manga and associated comics we've included his summary of the issue here. He gives a great break down of where the story has been so far:

Technically there is nothing which says his Super Megatron form is weaker. It just seem to imply his appearance and personality are reverted to his Megatron self. This isn't the Unicron trilogy where a 'Galvatron' is just a repaint and upgrade to his Megatron state.

It's not about weakness. My first foray into Transformers was The Movie, wherein to the bright eyes of a 3/4yo, Galvatron was superior to Megatron in every single way. For the most part, Simon Furman agrees with that too. There is only one consistently good Megatron (Yesss) and he was never associated with a Galvatron.

Amusingly that Megatron went through two upgrades (that weren't cheap repaints!) in the span of a single show yet never felt the need to rename himself.

The only reason the original Galvatron upgrade was such a big divergence in appearance and name was because Hasbro wanted to keep his being an upgraded Megatron in the movie a secret since they knew the toy would see release in stores before hit theaters (and because they didn't yet know how marketable and iconic their characters were at the time).

This also make the figure being a retooled Galvatron even more meta.
Posted by Sabrblade on August 5th, 2019 @ 5:43pm CDT
Albeit, this transformation into Super Megatron will only be a temporary thing since Galvatron has to get back to his own universe in his Galvatron form in order to still be Galvatron when he partakes in the events of The Headmasters.Skritz wrote:So I re-read the comic properly now and Galvatron is losing the Angolmois energy he has in him (presumably it was infused into him when he became Galvatron, which make sense). This does make sense for him to revert into some other form of Megatron. A form of Megatron which is still more powerful than his original form but not twisted and corrupted into the Unicron-created maniac that is Galvatron.
This also make the figure being a retooled Galvatron even more meta.

Nope. His series, Return of Convoy, came out in 1991, one year after the last piece of Japanese G1 animation, Zone, would be released on VHS in 1990. Star Convoy only got to appear in story pages and just one manga chapter (until the 21st Century, that is).Rodimus Knight wrote:On a side note, did Star Convoy show up in animation at all?

I'm hoping he ends homaged or used in more, i love his design. And he has the best Optimus head (which is why it was used on the BattleCore Prime and is my favorite)

I don't think so: notice how Galvatron is glowing ominously? This could be a sign of the residual Angolmois energy in him responding to the "Star Power" Star Convoy is wielding (remember, the ship with him on board is relatively in his vicinity). What could happen is anyone guess, we'll have to wait until the next installment.

It's just, since Angolmois Energy originally had jack squat to do with Unicron, I like to wonder if anything may ever go back to exploring that avenue from before it was retconned to be Unicron's energy.

The term used is "Jii-sama" (じいさま). While "Jii" can be used to refer to a grandfather, it most basically just refers to an old man. Halfshell uses the "-sama" honorific merely out of respect for Coelagon, not because he's literally Halfshell's grandpa.

At any rate, note how the Space Pirate Seacons including Halfshell have been rebuilt into new forms... wait, where's Seaphantom?
:EDIT: And well well, not only has Turtler overcome the limitation of only combining with one of each Seacon type, when he does combine with all 5 types it's a "Perfect Mode".
