I guess Hasbro's version will drop at a similar time.
Glad this was announced far ahead of time and not done on the sly, like MP-10.

I'm surprised as of yet a Soundblaster re-paint doesn't seem to be on the cards. Would have been a good way to get out Rat-Bat
I like how MPs seem to be selling better than expected. Means we can get more

Eh, I'll wait for the Hasbro release. Makes it easier on me.

This is great news for fans! The price is even cheaper than what a lot of non-Japan fans will get Soundwave for, unless they were able to take advantage of pre-order prices very early on.
Takara found a way to print their own currency, by way of these new Masterpieces. I hope that the purchasing swarm for these last few figures was the indicator needed to let them know that we support this product line and are rabidly waiting for more.
Re: Soundblaster release. While this makes sense due to minimal efforts in doing a repaint compared to a full-on new release, I'm glad this isn't being offered yet. Give it about a year or so, because there's so much other product I'd rather have offered. Actually, I'd rather NOT have a Soundblaster issued anytime soon. Don't count Rat-Bat out, though. Nothing saying he can't be released with some other larger figure down the line (Galvatron, perhaps).

Oh, hey that's a good thought about Rat-bat. Hadn't considered that possibility
Although in terms of not wanting Sounblaster to 'take up a spot' as it were, I've actually been expecting him to be some kind of exclusive, maybe like e-hobby's Black Rodimus. Something outside of the actual mainline releases. Not sure I'd want to drop the cash for it though

Hmmm... The preorders for the re-release Soundwave is cheaper then it is originally? Is this usually the case? Always thought re-releases are usually the same price as the original release or more expensive... Strange

Probably the exchange rate. If the Yen is weaker compared to the US Dollar, the new preorders will be cheaper.
Awesome news for those who don't have him yet!

Glad that people who may have missed him the first time can get a chance again at getting him for the original price.

BBTS has him up for preorder (they also have some instock, but they're the higher priced 1st run ones).
He's going for the same price I paid for mine ($159.99), which was the price you got if you preordered early prior to all the price hikes. Hopefully he'll stay that price this time.

Why is he named as MP-02 on the new packaging? Is this the Asia version?

It is strange. Notice the Kanji on the box as well. We don't typically see that on US boxes.

That was the first thing I saw when I saw the packaging as well. It is pretty odd. Perhaps this will see release in Hasbro's Asian district as well?

We're talking about the Hasbro set, not the Takara re-issue, right?
Could be for Asian distribution. Or it could be a bit of clever marketing on Hasbro's part to make it more appealing to geeky collectors. This packaging makes you feel like maybe you're buying an "exotic" import.

Like they did the previously Asian Exclusive GDO series? Not to mention Beast Machines Magmatron, who was Takara exclusive first.
I have a good feeling Hasbro Masterpiece Soundwave will see release in Asia first along with Masterpiece Acid Storm, then see US release.
btw the 傑作 on the box? Chinese for Masterpiece

Anyway, according to BBTS the new ones are due this month, but it isn't any more specific than that.

I got Soundwave today, finally! And of course it went through the greedy custom because of the giant box. Takara could have and should have packed him as a cassette player in a much smaller box. :\
Hm, but anyway, his upper legs don't bend at the hips. I can't pose him. Are they stuck or simply too stiff? How do you fix that? I don't want to break it.
It's cool that he can fit three tapes inside his chest, but the eject mechanism doesn't always work that great. Is it just mine?
He looks spot on though! And mine actually has a silver nose. :)
The Megatron gun is so cool.
Edit: andddd the mailwoman just dropped off Bluestreak. :) Heh.
Such a slick car mode!
