Takara Tomy Transformers Combiner Wars Also Arriving in 2015

It looks like Takara Tomy Transformers is also joining in the combining action, as fellow Seibertronian Cyberpath reports from designer TFYuki's Twitter account. The teaser image posted seems to show off a silhouetted Generations Combiner Wars Superion with Japanese characters inscribed in the limbs, the tagline Unite and 2015 - according to Yuki, more information will be available at the end of January in the Dengeki Hobby magazine!

Do you reckon Takara will do Slingshot as an exclusive repaint like they did with Stinger?

Hmmm already having the Hasbro version, I probably won't buy into an entire combiner, but if one or two figures have a clearly superior deco I might bite

None of the silhouettes look like Dragstrip, so it looks like they'll be getting full teams in a wave.

Then again, none of the silhouettes look like Alpha Bravo either.

Left leg is Skydive, Right leg is Air Raid, Left arm looks like Firefly (can clearly identify his gun pegged into the back of the wing, and the Right arm, is a bit mishmashy, but it looks like the forearm is also firefly, you can see the tailfin folded up just above the wrist. You can also just see the barrel of *another* Firefly rifle next to Superion's head, as though it's symmetrically plugged into the back of the wing on that side too. If that's a firefly repaint as slingshot, they're in the correct positions to line up with a G1 Box-Art and G1 series accurate Superion.

Pinch of salt, though, as it could just be a placeholder configuration for the teaser with 2 fireflies.

Remember when I crapped on these toys? Yeah, I take it back. They're fun. I enjoy them. Great line for collectors. I haven't seen the local crew around here this stoked and out on the hunt for official product in a very, very long time.

Takara's Superion would be much better. When it comes to paint and details most likely. Plus, I think Takara may make their own combiners. How about a Dinoking?

Takara never made any new molds for their counterpart lines to Hasbro's Classics, Universe, and Generations lines (Henkei! Henkei!, United, Generations, and Legends all used existing molds).

Why does he have two of the same limbs for arms?

Because there only exist three jet limb molds? Alpha Bravo's not in this.

If Takara makes a Slingshot, it'll more than likely be made from one of the other three jet limbs, unless Hasbro has secret plans for a new Slingshot mold further down the line.

I don't have any of them in hand yet. They are, however, the most excited I have been for retail product in years. That coming from someone who really doesn't care about Superion all that much. I think it's far past time these guys got their due though. The deluxes all look great on their own from the photos. I'm very curious to see what Takara do for their releases. I wonder who is gonna let the first images of devastator slip. :)

Thanks for the tip
on Dragstrip!

Just got Powerglide and leg joints will definitely be a problem at elbows. Maybe some plasti dip would tighten them up? :-?

Of course there is a hole in the umm...elbows. Maybe a 3rd party will make something that fits and makes it a ratchet joint.

Not new molds, but they have done remolds like Ratbat and Cloud Brawn so maybe an entirely new figure is out of the question, but remolding an existing jet isn't.

Ratbat and Cloud Brawn are both based on pre-existing tooling that originally went unused: Ratbat used the Gen. Scourge mold's alternate head (alternate meaning it's "built into the mold" like the regular head), and Brawn is based on the canceled "GDO" release.

.

Was scourge the. Designed to be re-tooled into rat bat and at some point it was canceled stateside?

We can only assume those were the original plans. Like many pretools (pre-planned retools), the alternate head was visible in the original's instructions, in this case Scourge's, but ultimately not used. Nowadays a good majority of molds have alternate parts, making the overall process more efficient.

I'd give a total list, but it's really long.
