Yesterday, we reported information about the upcoming Transformers UK comic book, which will coincide with the Transformers movie. Since then, Seibertron has received more detailed information directly from the editor, Steve White. A specific release date, style, and hints about its progress were discussed. He is presently seeking readers’ letters and artwork that they can run in the first couple of issues. If you are interested in contributing please send them to: steve.white@titanemail.com

Title will be palin ol’ Transformers, although we refer to it in house as TF UK to differentiate with the IDW stuff.

The first issue goes on sale 19th July and will be an on-going title in the same style as the Marvel UK comic. Simon Furman will (as this stage) be writing all the strips. Geoff Senior will hopefully being doing issue one, whilst Andrew Wildman is also lined up.

At the moment we have nothing we can release. We have A cover, but not THE cover. Once it’s all been approved, I’m sure I’ll be ‘leaking’ stuff – same goes for the new artwork.

Nothing new to release right now – although I guess I can that the first free gift will be TF dog tags, one Autobot, one Decepticon.

More news as it arrives.

Any help with the letters and art much appreciated.

Steve

If this is movie-centric comic material, it had better be really good!

Good for you UK!

A new UK comic... this could be a brilliant opportunity to pick up on some lost threads... spin off into new and untapped areas... or it could be used to create a whole new TF line that exists outside the IDW or movie lines...

Let's just stray away from stories that deal with the Ark's computer being called "Auntie," mkay?

If it contrasts with the IDW line it had better be good. I like what Furman's done with IDW, I don't really want him to start a new continuity over here.

And he'd better not try any of that alternate-universe jumping stuff!

Maybe it'll be filler stories that take place between the major story arcs of IDW. That would be cool. Some one-off stories that stay in-continuity but focus on subplots and characters. Not so much like the one-shots are doing, I'm talking just what takes place between Infiltration and Escalation and Escalation and Devastation. Just Speculation at this point, though. ;)

At any rate, any word on if we'll be getting them over here in the States since it is an in-continuity deal? Or will we have to resort to importing them?

Maybe they could focus on Prowl's regiment and Starscream's infiltration unit arriving on Earth prior to the events of "Infiltration".

Not to piss on anyone's bonfire, but do any of you remember the Pannini Armarda title??? Free gifts galor and Jetix style artwork. It would be great if this was targeted at a slightly older market, but my experience of publishing and kids' mags in recent years has been a drift towards maximum artworks and photographs (usually of PSPs) and a minimum of storytelling or plot development. I hope this is different. Simon is a top writer and editor, but ultimately the editorial style of the mag will be set by the guy holding the purse strings. If they decide that their target market is 7-year olds then there might not be too much in it for the likes of us.

Fingers crossed...

Because I don't particularly enjoy thread derailment, I'll ask this:

Why dogtags? Who wants dogtags? Who even wears dogtags?

I always got the impression Wildman didn't enjoy drawing the Transformers very much, so I'm glad, albeit surprised, that he's signed on.

Wow. They really couldn't have found people that I'd want to see on a comic less so than this group. Furman, Senior and Wildman. It's actually kinda funny to me. Senior had THE worst TF art I had ever seen in the Marvel comics. Wildman put WAY too much expression on the TF's faces. And Furman, well, he'll probably get quite a bit of liberty here and he'll introduce ALL that garbage associated with his mythology (and no other writers), then add more on top of that.

Kids. Who tend to either make necklaces of them (rawk teens) or stick them on key-rings. The latter will be where mine are going.

I haven't seen them since the youthful days of army surplus, Dr. Martens and Mansun gigs...

"Senior had THE worst TF art I had ever seen in the Marvel comics."

You joking? Senior was the best of the Marvel TF comics. Did you not see the mess Wildman made of the last few issues.

Too much to hope we finally get a continuation from Marvel G1 and G2. Would kill for that.

Pity it's not in the style of the collector's editions with 3 stories, possibly from different continuties.

I am very interested to see what direction these comics go in, perhaps a "in the future" type story, like what TFUK comics had a lot of back in the late 80's.

Please let them ship them out to the commonwealth.
