I literally let out a high-pitch choral note for a good long while upon laying eyes on that beauty.

Man, that toy looks perfect. I hope they take liberties with the "Deluxe" scale here so that he won't be as big as Cheetor and Dinobot from '09.

Love that it's his original "organic" rat body, always preferred those to the Transmetal and later ones (although TM Megatron and Tarantulas had awesome bot modes). But it kinda bugs me that the rat head doesn't really look like a rat head, instead it looks almost dog-like.
But if he has his cute little rodent mouth instead of 90s EXTREME GRIMACE! all is forgiven.

Although for once I wouldn't mind if this deluxe was a little undersized.

You have to give it to HasTak - they've really been hitting these "Beast Wars" figures out of the park!

For those who doubted:

Anyway...

So the unveiling of Rattrap, combined with the Amazon listing of Tankor, pretty much confirms we're getting those two along with Crosscut and Nightbeat. Whether they'll be redecos or completely new toolings is anyone's guess (well, besides Rattrap, obviously).

If there's one thing I have to harp about, it isn't about the figure itself (I just can't look at it from a negative perspective, it's that good): it's the fact that we have a total of four Maximals (counting Dinobot) and one Predacon for the Classics and other affiliated lines. I just hope that the "Beast Wars Megatron from Fall of Cybertron Grimlock" prototype makes it into reality.

My initial reaction exactly.

Not a fan of how I can see his tail poking out of his bottom, and the entirely translucent handgun seems pointless. If my eyes doth not deceive me though, it looks like he also has opening forearm flaps like his show character model did. I wonder if there's any other reason to that than fanwank, cuz I'm not sure anything would fit in them.

I was waiting for this day for SO long... I always wanted the original Rattrap figure, but I never found it in stores when I was a kid. And now... this is going to be so awesome.

Rattrap's face = "Who farted?!"

jk, looks very nice. For those collecting the Beast Wars stuff, this must be heaven. Cool that the rat legs look to be poseable too.

Despite the fact that he was mostly a shellformer, he was awesome. The guns splitting and hiding in each rat body side was very clever.

Re: TFCC Magazine Reveals Generations Rattrap (1534396)

Well, it's definitely not perfect/100% show accurate, but it's pretty damn good. I'll definitely be buying it.

I just hope his beast mode doesn't have those robo-parts like the version of him shown in that Transformers mobile game did. That would be a real shame.

And yeah, that gun needs some paint. Shouldn't be too tough to take care of that though. Just a bit of silver, gray and bronze/copper should set it right to make it look like the show.

Eh, Cheetor and Dinobot from Universe weren't so great, but the BW Generations figures seem to be a GIANT step up. Want this one BAD. Hope they keep going with the BW updates, I'd LOVE to see... Okay, well, the entire rest of the cast.

EDIT: Given the general reaction to the reveal, I'm surprised nobody's said this yet.

We're all gonna buy.

Megatron really needs an original mold. That Grimlock really isn't a great fit. The United/Cybertron beast Megatron mold is a better alternative.

And we need a Generations Blackarachnia. She never had a really decent toy (her Animated incarnation might be the best attempt)
Re: TFCC Magazine Reveals Generations Rattrap (1534416)

This is probably the first time I've actually hoped the deluxe figure would be smaller than average, so he can scale better with Rhinox and Henkei Dinobot.

He looks very good. The only thing I dislike is the placement of the rat tail, but I can easily overcome that flaw.

I also echo the sentiments of getting new figures for all the Beast Wars cast, but some part of me hopes we can get Cybertronian versions of the remaining Beast-era Predacons, especially Tarantulas.

Hehe, no it's not, but perhaps the club will eventually give us a Packrat using this mold ;).

If Hasbro keeps up their penchant for making unlikely and obscure repaints/retools, I think this wouldn't be too difficult to retool into BW Snarl/Tasmanian Kidd/Bound Rogue other than the obvious Packrat repaint. The original figures share some design elements in their back kibble and overall look of their beast modes. It's just something they could consider to get some more use out of this mold. :MAXIMAL:

Glad to see this, he looks great ! Ratrap is my favorite Beast Wars character because out of the original Season one cast, he is the only character that isn't a reboot of a G1 character. He has a unique personality of his own.

Optimus Primal - Optimus Prime (Duh)

Rhinkx - Ratchet (boring medic)

Cheetor - Hot Rod (young upstart)

Dinobot - Starscream (Imfamous traitor - seeks leadership)

Megatron - Megatron (duh)

Scorponok - Soundwave (Loyal to megratron)

Terrasaur - Another version of Starscream

Taruntalas - Shockwave (scientist with his own lair)

Waspinator - ??? (Ok his personality is unique as well)

Rated X wrote:Rhinkx - Ratchet (boring medic)
Rhinox wasn't a medic. That's what the CR Chambers were for.

Rhinox was a very unique a character, being like a mix of so many different G1 characters put together. He had Ironhide's durability, Brawn's strength, Ratchet's resourcefulness, Wheeljack's technical know-how, Omega Supreme's wisdom and might, Beachcomber's spirituality, Springer's courage, Kup's mentoring aura, Ultra Magnus's sub-commander leadership skills, Bumblebee's kindness, Perceptor's knowledge, and enough firepower to suit the needs of all the Wreckers put together. ;)

this nicely fills a hole in my collection -i didn't have a pre transmetal rat trap i had the rest of the axelon crew but not him -hopefully we will also see other mc beast wars caracters with more accurate designs-to the show i would like to see terrorsaur and scorpinox and a nice black archnia as all 3 toys were either small repaints that didn't fit or not that great because of gimicks

I suspect they are scared to do the rest of the Dinobots in MP scale because Grimlock wasnt based on their latest choice of scales. Why they wont do them voyager scale is beyond me ?

We already have Generations Grimlock in the form of FoC Grimlock, and if they were to make the other Dinobots as part of the Generations line, I would assume they'd use FoC or IDW designs, and that the other dinobots would be Deluxes, not Voyagers, to keep them in scale with Grimlock.

At least Swoop, Snarl, and Sl(a/u)g should be Deluxes, and Sludge be a Voyager that's slightly shorter than Grimlock.

This Rattrap looks good. If it turns out to be a spectacular deluxe. Then I just might buy him to go nicely with my beast wars Buzzsaw because I don't have and deluxe beast good guy in my entire collection, mainly because I don't like any that's out. But overall, a rat transformer is a win if done rite. And his robot mode looks much better than that new voyager Rinox.

Takara Rhinox is more show-accurate color-wise than Hasbro Rhinox.
