I can see them repainting Universe Dinobot into Grimlock. But for the rest of them, I couldn't tell you.

Hmm, Shattered Shattered Glass, where Autobots are good and Decepticons are evil...

These are Classicverse Autobots becoming Maximals taking part in their own Beast Wars in the ancient past of the Shatteredverse's Earth.

But the question is... how did they get to Shattered Glass Earth's distant past?

But I'm having a REALLY tough time accepting this line of rationalization. There's just too much going on in FunPub's universe as a whole right now that just seems forced to justify a few toys.

There is an answer, but it's very spoilerific for those who haven't been keeping up with the Fun Pub fiction.Mindmaster wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Guys, this is "Shattered Glass the World", not "Shattered Glass the Concept".

This is the most straightforward rundown of events leading up to this that I've seen. But, again, spoilers.

Honest to God, that explanation makes perfect sense.

I agree that there's too much going on with FunPub's "universe". It's extremely convoluted. I'm pretty knee deep with the Transformers hobby and I really have no idea what's going on with the FunPub stuff. It's such a mess that I gave up trying to understand what's going on. It's a bummer too ... because there could have been some cool stuff such as integrating the upcoming Depth Charge figure into the BotCon 2006 pre-Beast Wars storyline, retconning Ultra Mammoth into the original Beast Wars stories (or at least the IDW storyline), introducing Circuit and Scourge into THE Classics Universe, and so on. I'd rather have a 6 to 8 page mini-comic (ala the old Masters of the Universe mini-comics and the Target exclusive Transformers DOTM toys) that gives the characters a little backstory that just makes for a fun read instead of trying to build upon an ill-conceived, extremely convoluted and difficult-to-follow multi-universe storyline.

My opinion only. Lets move on to something different SGCC....I mean TFCC.

That would be awesome, he's a much better figure IMO. I doubt they will though since Grimmy already has a toy from the Beast Wars line as do all the others shown so far except Mammoth/Magnus, who we already know about.
I agree that their fiction has gotten way out of hand. I don't pay attention to it. I buy the toys I like and disregard the fiction they slap together to justify them. Of course it doesn't help their cause that I have never followed any of the TF comics, but lacking fiction never stopped me from collecting non-show figures of lines I liked, so for me the entire point is moot as long as I gets me some more Beast Wars repaints .

Maybe they mean Shattered Glass Movie-verse? Where the Transformers don't look like collections of iron filings and the Autobots aren't raging murderous psychopaths.

Yet, this story focuses on G1 heroic Autobots rather than evil Maximals or heroic Predacons. Only reason it's got "Shattered Glass" in the title is because it resides in the world of Shattered Glass.Rated X wrote:My biggest issue with Shattered Glass is that the whole concept is so unconventional, it caters more to superhero comic book fans than it does to Transformers fans. It's really like something straight out of Marvel comics. It's not the type of storyline that you could market to kids or adults who are used to conventional Transformers storylines. To a hardcore G1 fan it just seems silly.
It's like if a story took place in the Armada or Animated worlds, but focused on G1 characters stuck in that world trying to get out. Even though the characters aren't native to that reality, it'd make sense to include the names "Armada" or "Animated" somewhere in the title to let us know where the story takes place.

This is, exactly, my issue.
I am not a fan of the shattered glass concept, but I get it. I do not understand how all of these different story lines come together. I have had a club membership for the past three years. I've read the comics and I just can't follow the storyline. As Seibertron said, it's very convoluted. As a result, I didn't jump into the subscription service and I didn't renew my membership this year.
I love the idea of a pack-in comic. I loved those things as a kid. Great idea.

Did you see any Shattered Glass characters in the preview? Because I didn't. And there aren't any new Shattered Glass toys being sold by the Club or likely at Botcon this year.
Takara are releasing their Soundwave vs. Blaster set but thats it.

Why? These ARE the G1 characters going back in time and aquiring beast forms. Its just a different Earth than our usual one. Whether that makes a scrap of difference or not remains to be seen. There are currently no evil Autobots/Maximals or heroic Decepticons/Predacons.

First, they create the Shattered Glass universe
Then through Random Plot-Based Artifact, they bring the Classicsverse into the Shattere Glass universe
and now, within the same universe mashup, they send some Classicsverse characters back in time.
All to accomodate the toys that FunPub is producing.
And lets not forget The Wings Universe and Axiom Nexus as a way to introduce other characters.
The toys are good, and I'm looking forward to most of them, but the lore has been twisted and forced more than a rope at a Scouts rope-tying class.
