BEST. TF. EVER.
It would be pretty SICK if Takara did a Generations version: I'm thinking, let's go FULL ALARM CLOCK! And let's add a "project the time on the ceiling" feature, as pretty much every cheap toy alarm clock has that now.
Well, even if it wasn't a functioning clock, I'd love to see another Tanooki 'Former! YES! (FunPub, MAKE IT HAPPEN! Ehhh... as long as you don't take some random car and paint it brown, and call THAT Heinrad. Future lame. )

Todd: Not sure, but I think it's SUPPOSED to be knuckles mcjerkface (RID Magnus)
Posted by Sabrblade on September 12th, 2013 @ 6:56am CDT
If so, looks like that's Aligned Ironfist instead of a G1 version.
It might be Robots in Disguise Ultra Magnus (the 2001 guy, not the Prime RID guy).toddstarz wrote:which line is the white magnus next to city commander comes from?
Though, City Commander isn't in there. Fun Pub wouldn't put a third-party toy design in their comics.
Looks like it's just regular old Beast Wars Neo Heinrad with no changes, which Fun Pub wouldn't do, so I don't think Heinrad is a TFSS 2.0 figure (unless he gets a new body from a new toy design).durroth wrote:Not gonna lie, I'll be a bit annoyed if Heinlad is the last TF2.0 figure. Mainly because I'm building my own custom heinlad right now and it looks nothing like the one in that comic, and I want the one in the comic now T.T
EDIT: Took me a sec to realize that that isn't the original BWNeo Heinrad mold, so... who knows.

Yeah, there are definitely two Ultra Mammoths in there. Who knows what universe the other one hails from (or either of them, since they both could also not be the same guy as the Classics/BWSG character).toddstarz wrote:my bad, I forgot about that. there seem to be another mammoth magnus at the back tight. or inferential?

F*ck me, you're right! I can see the Wreck-gar body now! Weeeeeeell, not too bad, right? As long as they find a way to put a clock on his chest, I'd be down for a Heinrad as part of the TFSS2.0! In fact, I'd buy in just for Heinrad/Heinlad!
But I have doubts about whether or not they could change the chest, and without the clock, it would feel cheap and lame. But the Generations Wreckgar mold is one of my favorite new ones, so I wouldn't mind that alt mode at all!

If Fun Pub wanted to use that mold, chances are they would have drawn Heinrad's body exactly as that mold.

The Heinrad head looks pretty Wreckgar to me (or Junkbot).
Sabr, do you have a reference for claiming they would have drawn him MORE like Wreckgar?

I never said it was the Sandstorm design. I simply meant that they share some similarities. I don't have any expectations on Fun Pub making him. However, if they did plan on it in the future, they wouldn't necessarily design his comic appearance based on the mold they plan on keeping a secret for a future reveal.
Metrosuplex wrote: Sandstorm? A) He's a Voyager (and FunPub mentioned they're not doing that)
Wouldn't have to be through the TFSS. It could be Botcon. Besides, I really don't think we'll see him soon if ever.

Fiction/cartoons/movies = vehicle for selling toys
As someone who buys toys of said fiction, it's hardly fair to ask why we'd expect Heinrad to get a new toy. Or maybe some of us just want a new Heinrad toy so much that we neglect little details such as, "not all characters in the fiction get a toy".

How 'bout the simple fact that they would have drawn him to unquestionably resemble an obvious and existing toy design if they wanted to promote a new Heinrad toy?Metrosuplex wrote:Sabr, do you have a reference for claiming they would have drawn him MORE like Wreckgar?
It's like JelZe said, not every character Fun Pub makes or uses has to be made from a toy design or made into a toy. TransTech Rhinox here, for example, has a design that doesn't use the look of any existing toy mold (though it does take some visual cues from the Cybertron Landmine design, but with plenty of creative liberties to not fully be that design). Nor is it based off a canceled Transtech toy design since there was no Rhinox in the old Transtech toyline plans.
To cite another example, "Dawn of Future's Past" created a pre-Earth design for Terrorsaur that didn't use the design of any existing toy mold design from that time.
Creating new designs for characters that aren't based on toy mold designs is just a common practice for Fun Pub, and IDW practically thrived on non-toy designs for years (until Hasbro decided to turn some of them into toys as of this year).

Ehhhh, sounds like you have more proof of fiction inclusions NOT getting toys (or conversely, not being designed as planned/existing toys), rather than proof of an accurate FunPub comic character that became a toy (which is what I was asking about).
My point is that this is subjective. Maybe it's not my place to say, or it was implied, but an "I think that..." or "my opinion is..." header seems appropriate here. From a historical point of view, you may be right, but that's no guarantee FunPub has no plans for Heinrad (simply because we can't exactly pin his current incarnation on an existing mold). And yes, I'm naively optimistic (I claimed Menasor would be in TF4).
I think the closer truth is that FunPub is throwing this character in and getting a feel for fan reaction - if people cheer, a toy is coming; if no one notices/cares, this character was never planned as a toy release. That's how I'd pick the next exclusive I made: fan-demand. (I'm secretly hoping someone at HasTakFunPub notices some demand from these threads - so maybe I'll just start throwing in a "HEINRAD YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!" randomly in my posts hence forth! )

Ah, so you're asking if there have been any character designs that Fun Pub created for their characters first that have later been made into toys by Hasbro, correct?Metrosuplex wrote:Ehhhh, sounds like you have more proof of fiction inclusions NOT getting toys (or conversely, not being designed as planned/existing toys), rather than proof of an accurate FunPub comic character that became a toy (which is what I was asking about).
If so, then I can't think of any design Fun Pub made that Hasbro turned into a toy later. I'd have to think about this, but I'm pretty sure it's the other way around, with Fun Pub characters who get toys having designs based on existing designs Hasbro's already created.
A very thought-provoking inquiry, though.

HAHAHA! Dude, I need to be clearer in my communiques, but it speaks volumes of your opinion of me when you assume I meant something as thought-provoking as that! Although, I would add that I'm surprised you wouldn't just shoot the idea down, because, as you said, it's kind of preposterous for FUNPUB to make a character and Hasbro to pay enough attention as to turn it into a toy...
No, no - my real inquiry was much stupider (or at least AS stupid, IMO ). FunPub (using my limited knowledge here) uses Hasbro molds that Hasbro allows (due to not being in use). I was looking for some comic panels of a repaint toy they turned into a character (i.e. origin: Hasbro toy). That's what I'd expect.
But anyway, this debate has been put to rest (in a way) with MindMaster's post (in the newer TFSS2.0 reveal thread) about how HEINRAD is apparently based on Prime KnockOut. THUS, maybe the mystery figure after all?????

But, yeah, I get the feeling of seeing an existing toy design used for a new/different character in a Fun Pub comic and expecting a toy to be made from it (Where's my Wings Universe Over-Run from Energon Bulkhead, Fun Pub?!!), but it seems that Fun Pub has gradually begun to stem away from that it recent years, with fiction-only Fun Pub character designs using existing toy mold design become increasingly rarer these days.
Though, that Heinrad is just in a generic Cybertronian body not taken from any existing toy. Dunno where Mindmaster heard of it being based on Prime Knock Out.
However, his speech does seem to be patterned a bit after The Doctor.

Sadly, I looked up images, and the similarities aren't that apparent. I just assumed that a senior member like Mindmaster would know what he was talking about if he chose to mention such a theory.
You know what? I'll find a way to mod my own Heinrad, if FunPub doesn't bother. I'm gonna get some paint to make a seeker squadron out of the $5 Prime Rumbles I found at 5 Below (for some reason, I really want a Prime Rumble in YELLOW!). Maybe a Heinrad mod is somewhere there in the future... The Wreckgar/Junkion body would be a cool base, IMO.

Looking around, someone on The Allspark joked about potentially being able to fake that Heinrad design with the Prime Knock Out toy, but I think that was also one of that site's customizers who said that.Metrosuplex wrote:Sadly, I looked up images, and the similarities aren't that apparent. Doctor Who reference still seem rather obscure to me, but the program has hit my radar with its rabid cult following.

It's sabr, take one encyclopedia and blend thoroughly, you'll get all kinds of things. [/sarcasm]
Well, let's review:
Time traveller
Friends in various continuities
Travelling companion who's not quite all there...
Time Traveller who's not quite all there...
Likes to talk in big words and be roundabout in his meanings (I'd really love to tlel you it all works out in the end... but I can't)
Different body than any of us can recognize,
comments on new and unusual sensations that we take for granted...
Actually, pretty generic summary there. But now I really want a Heinrad figure that turns into a phone booth. The Docotr did have a motorbike though that he rode up the side of a building once, so there's always that.
EDIT: Also, just to get the creative juices going, here's Junkheap as Optimus Prime Heinrad Sorry, but Heinrad's comic colors just end up in all the places Prime's do. Blue legs, red chest, blue helmet, white face(mask)
For those wondering, I did the clock on a transparent filter to try to pull the details back through of Junkheap's chest. But I don't think that worked as well as I wanted it too. Still, its a reference photo, and if anyone does this, I only ask they make two and keep me in mind.
Also, since you brought them up earlier,m they just opened a Five Below near me. Those stores are AWESOME. I just wish there was something out I wanted more than one of. Like Vehicons, but they didn't have any of those.

No offense to Sabr, but I don't buy that. This is the internet, and for all we know, he has one hand typing these replies and the other typing up search queries on a second laptop. Versus the typical internet user, I mean, with one hand in his pants! Any typographical errors I commit can be blamed on that. My using one hand, I mean. For legitimate reasons.
Looks great!!! i think you should do BROWN, not red, though. And some tanooki "stones" maybe? He should definitely keep the drinking jug, cause that's just hilarious (and I'm a sober fellow, too). And the last thing I want is his face (nose, etc.) - the face plate looks too Optimus...

I totally wish they had some damn Vehicons. I swear I read a post about too many Vehicons and not enough Kup's and Rumble's. I'm all, " That's all my 5 Belows have!!!"
They're opening more in the Chicago suburbs, so in no time... gonna have some convenient hunting grounds.
Still, I'm thinking I will repaint some Kup's and Rumble's as random Autobot and Decepticon grunts. Kup, especially, seems like a good mold for a background character - except that awful monkey face. I considered the Takara Iron Hide version, but what for? Iron Hide monkey??? I wish Hasbro could stick to some more G1 faces - the kind of gothic, artistic majesty that makes TF look like Roman gods.

Tanooki stones?
A drinking jug would be cool, but knowing FunPub's limitations, not that concerned. I'll try it with Wreck-Gar's face (Wasn't there a third Junkion somewhere?) and more brownish colors, I went with Red because of FunPub's looking more red to me, but he doesn't eed to look like Optiumus Prime.
(Psst, Hey Pete! Hey Ben! I'm doing your work for yas! I accept payment in free toys! *snicker*)
Here's one for you, this is a project that I abandoned half-finished: PRID Kup as the yellow Turbomaster truck dood. Cannons are righ,t ad the vehicle proportions are not far off. I really liked the mold for Ironhide, but its A) too small, and B)Not domestic. I keep seeing him on ebay for 22 plus an absurd shipping, and I'd just as soon get a winged Vehicon or Nightmare Unicron. I NEED a good Ironhide though, and at this point, I'm "THIS" close to digging out my Descent into Evil Ironhide. (I lkike that he has that combat deck, but more importantly too me, he's not trying to stare down his own cleavage... and the vehicle panel seams are not absurd....)

Here's a real quick sketch I did tweaking Heinrad into a transtech design. I had a lot of input from a previous design I was sent that Alex Milne had sketched up on the character, but I tweaked it quite a bit. He wasn't really based on any existing toy... just tried to make him sleek, tt-ish, and still retain a bit of his Heinrad-ness.
Huh. If he's "TransTech Heinrad", I guess he might not be the same guy as the Beast Wars Neo guy. Not sure how I feel about that.

Yes, that is definately an IDW Chromedome head, even if it is on a Prime body...
Also, count the number of Magnuses. Note the distinctive lack of one Mammoth, and the oddly static shaped patter of white off tot he side that is kinda sorta mammoth kibbly shaped. An oops?
