Rated X wrote:RK_Striker_JK_5 wrote:Well, as a GI Joe fan, I effin' LOVE this! Also, are there people actually saying using GI joe scale figures for Transformer humans is wrong? Good friggin' LORD SCREW SCALE!!!!!!!!! I want a good toy, not some tiny little thing because of some damned concept that hasn't existed in the franchise since ever!
Well that would be me. I never collected human action figures and never will. It was the fact that transformers were not humans that drew me to them back as a kid. When it came to the 80s cartoons (GI Joe, He Man, Super Heroes, Wrestlers) I would watch them all. But when it came time to take a trip to the toy store, I had to have a transformer. I did get a sky striker which I still own and love, but the pilots rubber band waist snapped years ago and I have no desire to replace him.
Moving foward to today, I have learned to appreciate human characters to compliment my classics shelf providing they scale properly with their robot friends. I have no desire to have these characters bigger, more detailed, or super articulated at the cost of ruining the scale theme my classics collection goes by. I would love to have a mini figure of every human character in the G1 cartoon. But the human characters arent important enough for me to start defying scale and start a stand alone collection of humans. This mentality is probably the reason the CM Corps line wasnt very popular. You really gotta have a strong connection to those characters to have a giant human among your MP collection. Im not trying to speak for everyone as Im often accused of doing, but I know Im not alone here either.
Well, I DO want human figures that aren't tiny, poorly-painted little things that look more like KOs in quality. Some of the G1 humans are my favorite characters in the franchise period, and they've been ignored for far too long. Marissa in the GI Joe scale's a start, but only a start.
As for scale, see my sig.

I do kinda wish/hope that they'd change this toy's name to "Serpentor Prime" instead of "Serpent O.R.", considering the body of that toy.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Serpent O.R.

No instructions for Catgut because they aren't necessary. Didn't realize his tail would make such a good gun barrel. In fact, it's sort of easier to get a passable gun mode out of him than discern the best functional double-chainsaw mode, if you don't have access to official pics...or are just to lazy to look them up while playing with the figure.
Treadshot was my first Action Master, and I've already played with this new guy more than this year's other 3 combined!

I've been wishing that for over a year now too, but I was struck by Treadshot's instructions specifying that it's an adult collectable not intended for use by children. Could that be because the Arms Microns haven't been subjected to Hasbro safety tests, and wouldn't meet American standards if they tried? I can't currently find the instructions from the previous Subscription figs, but has anyone checked them for a pattern, like only Barricade "not being a toy"?fonziechavez wrote:Came home to this great figure. It looks great. I wish Hasbro sold the Arms Micron line here in the U.S.
Oh, and I already gave my Frenzy to my AM Knockout. Screw Bayniverse pairings carrying over to Aligned, KO needs that saw blade! Now I just need to come up with a proper drill configuration...

anyways, and this is what im going to do by the way, whats to stop you from having a stand alone collection of human characters from transformers? then they dont have to scale with anything. if youre completely against human figures thats one thing. but if youre passing because of scale issues, that sucks cause youre missing out.

There a handful of detailed figures that scale better with classics than GI Joe figures. These may not be perfect, but they work for me. I just don't have a connection to human characters to want a stand alone collection. I'm sure some people do, but not me. What I find amusing is that in any discussion about the Bay movieverse, so many people complain about the heavy human presence.

Yeah, that seems to be the dichotomy of human depiction and focus in TF fiction.Rated X wrote:What I find amusing is that in any discussion about the Bay movieverse, so many people complain about the heavy human presence.
If the robots are the main focus, and have some humans thrown into the mix as supporting cast who become likable in their own right, then TF fans usually feel alright about them.
If the humans are the main focus, with the robots feeling like the secondary characters instead, then a lot of TF fans might view those humans as taking away from the robot focus and not like those humans as much.
And then there are rare cases where the focus between robots and humans is split evenly half and half between the two, which makes the game of whether or not TF fans take a liking or a disliking to the human characters really interesting.
I think the only cartoons (I'll use that medium since it's easier to use over the comics and other media) that managed to have a heavy human presence and focus over the robots and still have the human characters viewed in good light by the fans were Masterforce (for integrating the humans into the war in the unique way it did) and Rescue Bots (for having a team of writers that actually know how to competently write characters and completely avoid giving us any "idiot" characters).
Posted by Hero Alpha on August 18th, 2014 @ 11:02pm CDT
I would want my human figures to be in somewhat close of scale with my Transformers. That Dr. Arkeville is about perfect, but not Joe size. And like Rated X I don't care enough for the G1 humans to have a stand alone collection, I would love to have some but not like that.

I think this 3.0 set is exactly what a collectors club offering should be. Really clever, sometimes obscure, some niche market, and sometimes filling in where Hasbro missed a chance. (like G2 Starscream) Lots of nods to action master fans, GI Joe fans, G2, pre-G1...
Really pleased.

For the uninitiated:
- Nacelle's deco is based on prototype colors for G1 Thrust. That also explains the regular Seeker head as the Conehead bit had yet to come into play.
- Zap (or "Carzap") is based on an aborted Takara line called Block Town, which featured repaints of Axelerators and Skyscorchers with lego-like bulding sets. The latter is what the Kreon refers to.

KROK
Function: Agitprop
"Know the game and you can win a battle; know the players and you can win the war."
Millions of years ago, Krok was a celebrity mecha-soccer player, leading Polyhex City to championship after championship. After he was recruited by Megatron, his sophisticated demeanor and easy charisma made for a smooth transition from endorsing products to advocating for the Decepticon cause. Believes that a few powerful personalities can do more to win a war than a battalion of Blitz.
Based on the 1990 Actionmaster, Krok joins a slew of other characters from the 1990 Transformers toy line that have now received the much desired update! Although this may be the best one yet!! Featuring an ALL-NEW head sculpt AND his Micron partner Gatoraider, this figure is at the top of many lists!
NACELLE
DECEPTICON AERODYNAMICS ENGINEER
“Blasting you is as cathartic as streamlining one’s fuselage.”
NACELLE is almost as much at home in the battlefield as he was back in his old laboratory at Tesarus. He has a keen mind for the sciences having worked alongside BITSTREAM and HOTLINK under STARSCREAM's Helex-Ensis Decepticon Research & Advancement team. Upon the Nemesis's departure to Earth, he was assigned as a lab assistant to SHOCKWAVE. During that time NACELLE engineered the modified wing designs used for the second wave of Earth-bound Seekers; eventually adapting one of the prototypes into his own chassis.
Nacelle is a brand-new character to the modern era of Transformers, yet his design is based on an unreleased action figure from the earliest days of the Transformers brand. The figure features the BotCon 2007 Thrust wings (never available at retail), that will look spectacular once again on this exciting figure!
TARANTULAS
FUNCTION: Scientific Analysis
"The secrets of the universe are coded in every Cybertronian's spark...
and I won't stop cutting until I find them!"
Tarantulas is a being without a history. In his rush to remove Jhiaxus' clones from his laboratory before the Autobots discovered its location, Sky-Byte mistakenly extracted four stasis pods of unknown origin. The emergent robots immediately declared for the Predacon cause, some might say suspiciously quickly. Of the four robots, Tarantulas has since discovered an endless fascination with experimental science, especially seeking any opportunity for vivisection.
Finally, after a long wait, the Dawn of Future’s past character fans have wanted for their set is here! Tarantulas is more than just a Predacon though, and he will be a great fit for many a fans collection! Tarantulas comes with TWO Micron spiders!
CarZap
FUNCTION: Autobot Forward Patrol
"One moment can change everything. When that moment comes again,
how will you decide to do things differently?”
One of the very young Generation 2 Autobots created during the earth led G2 project. Having been assigned to Japan he has adopted the culture as his own. Enjoys taking part in fast-paced sports, but is not brash or impulsive. His personal philosophy has been shaped by the race track - life is a loop. That's not to say that he's a pessimist, but he believes in patience. If you miss out on one opportunity, you just might be able to find another. Respectful of his new squad leader, Rapido.
CarZap feature an ALL-NEW head sculpt based on the Generation 2 toy Windbreaker, but the deco? The deco is based on the unreleased Block Town colors and that makes for one sharp bot! ALSO included is a Kre-O block set (where you can build your very own gas pump/laser blaster) AND a GB Blackrock Kreon, totally bringing the whole Block Town concept to fans at long last!
SERPENT O.R.
FUNCTION: TACTICIAN
"I remember crossing the Alps on Elephant-back, outflanking the Maginot Line, and marching 'cross
the Rubicon. What hopes then have mine enemies?"
After his encounter with four Autobots rekindled his lust for domination, a washed-out terrorist tracked down the discarded body of a Sweep and used it to as a recipient for data from an old Cobra project to combine the military acumen from the greatest strategic minds of Earth's past. The EDC disrupted the operation, but in the process General Clayton "Hawk" Abernathy was knocked into a Brainwave Scanner and his personality uploaded to the amalgamated consciousness. The result is a being who, nominally, identifies with Cobra and their occasional allies, the Decepticons, and yet finds himself sympathetic to the cause of the Earth Defense Command, which he remembers founding and leading.
Yo Joe! Or. Hail Cobra? Go Decepticons!?! "You’ll have to wait and see where Serpent O.R.’s loyalties lie, but one thing that is certain is the character, first introduced in “G.I. Joe VS Transformers: The Art of War”, pays great homage to this very complex robot. Sign up for the TFSS 3.0 to get him. As Serpent O.R. would say…THIS I COMMAND!
G2 STARSCREAM
DECEPTICON AIR COMMANDER
“I've conquered death; nothing is beyond my grasp!”
After floating aimlessly for what seemed like eons, the indestructible spark of STARSCREAM awakened in a new corporeal form. His solitude did nothing to temper his treachery or vanity as he’s only become more unbearable and cruel. These are traits he feels will be put good
use in this new time and place.
G2 Starscream features an amazing color deco based on his original Generation 2 action figure from 1993. With its combination of white, gray, orange, and purple, it's unlike anything else that has appeared on the Classics Seeker mold. You will want this figure for your collection!\
So... it looks like they're ALL Wings Universe dudes. A pity their home dimensions are all the same rather than more diverse.

Well then i'm wrong, but honestly why a legends mold this time around? Baring Whether or not the character reflects the size like say it's supposed to be a minibot repaint, it kinda feels like a cop-out. 1.0 had the 5 deluxes then one ultra (mammoth), 2.0 had 6 deluxes, three microns and 2 Scouts, so it sota evens out. this one has 6 deluxes one micron, a kreon, a kreo set that shouldn't be that big, and (1?) Generations Legend; it doesn't feel as portioned as the other two I suppose.

I'ma dumbass I only saw Krok's , but im sure you get my point, even though 1.0 had 5 deluxes and ultra mammoth, 2.0 had the three microns 5 deluxes and 2 scouts, so it felt like a progression even if there wasn't an ultra, there were still more toys to make up for it. This one dosen't; 6 deluxes is great, but 2 of the three microns are the same, the special figure's another size class smaller, and to make up for it are kreos and a kreon. Kreon blackrock's fine, but the kreo gas pump feel more like padding, and it looks it aswell.
