There will be a discussion on the cartoon, in terms of our site's top 5 lists in due time, but for now I can say that this is one of the better Transformers cartoons we have gotten in a long while. It combines a variety of elements from Transformers lore and generations to become a reimagining of G1 for today's youth, making something familiar while also new.
The final episode can be watched below and the entire series is on youtube.

I felt the same way. It feels like a series finale. We get the final showdown to end all Megatron/Optimus showdowns (literally), they tie up the loose ends with windblade and we get a sense of the new status quo post eon long war. It is for sure abrupt when you look at just a few episodes before that had nothing to do with parallel worlds. But it still gives you everything you need for an end.
Come to think of it, Transformers never had strong endings. I wasn't a big fan of Predacons Rising, and while I did like the Beast Wars ending, it gets a bit nullified with Beast Machines. And speaking of which, I still don't get nor like that literal ex machina ending of Beast Machines with the Oracle. And as for G1, well everyone loves the Rebirth right?

Why would it be in a top 5 list of cartoons o.O -parts of it could get an honorable mention for sure but lots of it gets horrible mentions
Series one was okay with good parts, season 2 was good, season 3 was really bad with some good parts.
Highlights:
some new characters and slipstream
some past characters from other series being used well
Wheeljack/Shockwave
Soundwave
Hotrods developement
Truce negotiation episode
Series 2 and start of season 3
Negatives:
Interupt your viewing session in s3 to sell you a toy that gets an episode dedicated to it and sod the story or continuation of character developemnet
Kup Narration -just do the story, dont talk about it like it has already happened and we are missing it.
Megatron and his sixty second encounter on Barcelona
Villains build up and complete waste of (one of the few consistencys of the show)
Season 1 is a bit too cookie cutterish or bland.
Season 3 pacing is all over the place
Stories resolved too quickly and having others disjointedly sledgehammered in.
Some five star moments in a mixed bag of a show.

For me, G1 ends with The Return of Optimus Prime. Much more fitting end. Optimus Prime gets resurrected to save the entire universe from destroying itself.

I mean top 5 lists about the show itself. Like best episodes, or best characters.

They went with Megatron X because Hasbro had already made toys of him that needed to be advertised.Coptur wrote:Megatron X what naff idea that bad boy should've been Galvatron
Besides, the show never even calls him "Megatron X". He shows up and calls himself just "Megatron", asserting himself as the one true Megatron, the epitome of what our Megatron could have been but wasn't.

It is unfortunate that with a franchise as great as Transformers is, very rarely are there satisfying endings because the folks making the show are not often told in advance when it is truly coming to an end, so they have little to no time to prepare. When they do have time, this is pretty evident.
-From the perspective of both people making the original show in 1987, and kids watching it, there was no indication it was ending. David Wise was told as he was writing The Rebirth, it had to be truncated from 5 episodes down to 3, and of course there would be no fully fleshed out 4th season. This of course was not made known to we the kids/audience of that time. We thought the show would go on, as it had for the previous 3 years. In fact it took probably a full year of reruns and no indication the 88 toys were appearing in new episodes before we figured out "it was done" on our own, and yes left very unsatisfied to the point that still to this day we look for a continuation.
Mainframe was smart, they took every Beast Wars season ending with a "kill em' all, let hasbro sort it out" attitude. But the 3rd season had a fairly, as long as you don't let BM mire it. (Also I have to insist that cut-scene of Primal putting the spark back in the original Megatron be canon, otherwise that causes an equally messed up time paradox)
As much as I dislike the Unicron Trilogy, I will say each part had a fairly solid ending, and the end of Cybertron overall (thanks to so fancy last minute additions and dialogue not seen in Galaxy Force), made it pretty satisfying and felt complete
Animated-well you can thank CN for screwing that up, and denying fans a 4th season as they did pretty much every action show from the late 2000's-mid 2010's. (MOTU 2002, Thundercats 2011, Green Lantern, Young Justice, Clone Wars, HTTYD), fortunately some of these lived on thanks to streaming service, but many did not.
Prime- The series had an amazing ending. Also, while Predacons Rising was unnecessary, as most post-show addendum films are, I really enjoy it, it is solid. I just forget Rid15 exists, and that makes it all better .
As for Cyberverse. it ended, and I'm glad. I was never a fan, not my taste. I will be curious to see as time goes on how it is regarded, or if it is just mostly forgotten. Interestingly as of this moment, there doesn't seem to be any plan for the next mainline continuation. I'm ok with taking a break, as I'm sure, based on cultural trends that unfortunately I have little chance of liking whatever the next incarnation of TF will be , especially if Boulder Media is involved.

I honestly loved the idea. forget Galvatron, we got Megatron if he was smart from the beginning and was more determined and more willing to do more. I liked it.
Plus it gives every black Megatron a meaning now: a more evil version that had the truck nuts to kill off his Prime at the very beginning and steal the matrix.
I loved the show. Season 3 will be the best for me, and that version of the Quintessons will be one that sticks with me. Same way the 7 members of the Resistance are now sort of set in my head using their Cyberverse Personalities (save for Whirl, but even then sort of), and Iaconus was an awesome addition.
I love that we got 3 titans in this show and none of them had any prior fiction, they were all new.
Iaconus the War Titan baby

Megatron is plenty bad enough without the making badder taller Megatron in black.
That and Galvatron is already an established bigger badder version of Megatron (in some continuity's).
I don't know different boats I guess.
Posted by Sabrblade on September 28th, 2020 @ 6:15pm CDT
Yeah, this is a Megatron who didn't need to upgrade into Galvatron since he'd already seized absolute power in his base form, having been far more ruthless and cutthroat than we're used to.Coptur wrote:I get what you're saying.

Most Megatrons who upgrade into Galvatron do so through external means initiated outside of their control. But this Megatron gained total control without needing a Magic Mushroom.

“Bumblebee, with the help of stowaway Dinobots Sludge, Snarl, Swoop, and Slug, and the Autobots set up a plan to takedown Megatron-X.”
This is great news to anyone who felt the TV show ended rather abruptly. We also see that we will have the first appearance of the other dinobots within Cyberverse's story.

- Is there a new "big bad" antagonist (as with TFP's "Predacons Rising" concluding movie), or is the conflict more abstract (factionalism, restoring Cybertron, integrating the forgotten corners of the planet, etc.)?
- Is "our" Megatron dead or merely incapacitated?
- Will the "other" Megatron be identified in dialogue as Megatron-X?
- Just how long can Astrotrain contain him?
- Will Astrotrain get a third mode?
- Will black-Megatron transform into something that promotes the triple-changer toy? (His CG model is, like grey-Megatron, mostly tank-featured.)
- What happens to his army of not-Tarn?
- Given the Decepticon leadership vacuum, does a new leader arise? Especially since grey-Megatron was not exactly candid re: the threat of black-Megatron? Or do they decide there's no reason to continue the factions?
- Given Optimus's evident discomfort with being a civilian leader, is a peacetime Autobot government installed?
- Do we see more of Meteorfire, Cosmos and Hammerbyte? (Gotta amortize those CG models.)
- What about the Cthulhoid titan lurking the depths of the Argon sea?
- Is the head of Iaconus retrieved from unspace?

And, no, Cybertron did finish its run on Cartoon Network.

Ok, so here's a rough run-down of the info I have.
Megatron-X returns, and plans to take over the entire multiverse, recruiting bots from a bunch of dimensions.
Sludge, Swoop, Snarl and Slug stowaway somehow and join up with the Autobots. They discover a way to create Volcanicus (the Ultimate Warrior) the only autobot powerful enough to defeat Megatron-X.
Not sure how the show designs will translate to toys but they look super cool.
Grimlock - Normal
Sludge - tail turns into large sword/lance blade
Slug - has his axe and a double barreled cannon on his back in dino-mode.
Snarl - tail turns into an awesome club.
Swoop - long tail turns into a sweet whip.
Volcanicus - cool bot mode - swoops wings enlarged to predaking size, has a large sword. Has an awesome combined alt-mode which is a dragon. (Might be made as a combined ultimate class figure)
New roll and combine gimmick
Bumblebee + Swoop
Megatron + Slug
Wheeljack + Grimlock
I also get the feeling this is kind of a filler line, with a new series potentially launching in 2022 with new designs/continuity. (Lots of carry forward/pack refreshes)

I would doubt it, creative team said Rodimus Prime wasn't a consideration, but they wanted to show Hot Rod himself as having leadership potential. Same way Unicron was never considered for the show in any form

Only 4 of them are classic? Which of the five doesn't count as a classic member for you?
Also, here is some more lovely dinobot action for you

Grimlock was already part of the Cyberverse cast, so he doesn't count in this case. Ergo, the other four are who I'm excited to see.
