2nd wowza! But why are his optics protruding?
Posted by dinogeist on December 25th, 2011 @ 10:01pm CST
It looks a bit blocky in key areas. but I won't judge it further until i see colored pics.
this might go on my "buy list",it the colored version turns out looking great.
in pic #10 in this thread,is that susposed to be a tank mode?
I think this might be leader sized around 9 inches tall & not ultra sized which is aroud 8 inches tall from head to toe.
I do enjoy all the acessories this comes with. hopefully their is a hidden face plate or secondary head to create the face plate head design.
I didn't see any rocket boosters on the lower legs, forearms or on the back pack. so hopefully this company or another 3rd party company create this stuff.
LASTLY,I think the molded on autobot symbol is pushing the limits here. they should remove the molded autobot symbol from the final design. if anyone wants a autobot symbol on the robot chest. then all they have to do isd buy some repro labels or take the autobot symbol sticker from a older TF toy they have on one of those sticker sheets.

Classics jetfire is excellent; this doesn't tempt me at all in replacing it. But it's a nice figure.

That's absolutely unappealing. The Classics mold is more than fine.

But seriously, the proportions are really off for this figure. Head's too small. Chest too long/big. Sagging shoulders + head that doesn't quite look like cartoon Jetfire. If there are no improvements, then it's a pass for me too.
Posted by Menasor75 on December 26th, 2011 @ 2:51am CST
The head sculpt looks a bit strange, and the alt-mode looks very chunky.
This all means more money saved for Mastermind Cyclops not Shockwave...
Posted by noctorro on December 26th, 2011 @ 3:03am CST
I'll get him, I don't mind the misproportions, the altmode looks great and he looks blocky and hopefully that means sturdy. I like my toys sturdy, not flimsy
Anywho, we saw a G1 awesome scaled Megatron, and a few months before that a very awesome looking G1 Optimus Prime (with Ultra Magnus armor with the wide shoulders).
I'm happy for that stuff and all, but are they ever being released?

i wish the 3rd party developers would keep their efforts for figures that haven't or probably won't be tackled by hastak or if they have they have been done already, they've been done in a shoddy way (eg classics deluxe galvatron)
jet/skyfire classics is one of the best figures i own - i never thought there'd be any reason for another version esp from 3rd parties.
megatron... shockwave.. galvatron... omega supreme.. those i'd be interested in
at this rate i'm expecting some 3rd party genius to release a new warpath.

Proportions are a bit off, but all in all I like it.
I'll wait to see further developments.

Okay, so no one has still done a Skyfire figure. That is still the Jetfire figure that is based off the F-14 with a jacked up nose.

That IS Skyfire. The Hasbro and Takara versions are each an homage to both versions of the character. Takara's was named Skyfire. What's the confusion? I'm not bending the truth to put one over on you. We've gotten Skyfire in a Classics form. It has, as a matter of fact, been made. Your original statement is false and I've given you the proof.

It's resemblence to Skyfire is definately greater than Classics Megatron's resemblance to Megatron's cartoon model.

Even though they are all extremely similar and they're specifically named so? Really? Okay. The figure in this thread is some mis proportioned oddity that I wouldn't waste my money on, Skyfire or no.

Wow, that actually shows it to be much more like the cartoon model than I remembered.
I mean, sure it isn't 100% the same, but that's true for the majority of Classics figures.

Look, people, G1 Jetfire was only ever called "Skyfire" in the cartoon. Everywhere else (comics, toys, books, etc.) he was "Jetfire". The cartoon holds no precedence over any other medium, and so if this thing is Jetfire, then it is Jetfire!
And, yes, I know that the cartoon model was changed from the look of the toy, but that model was NOT just for the cartoon, but for the comics. Behold, Comics Jetfire:
Same body, different name.
This third-party figure can represent "Jetfire" just as much as "Skyfire".
And, yes, we HAVE gotten a Skyfire figure before: Henkei! Henkei! Skyfire:
No, that is NOT Jetfire. THIS is Jetfire:
Same mold, but big difference in colors. Classics Jetfire is based off of the Stormbringer Jetfire design, while Henkei Skyfire took that look and tried to emulate the cartoon model's Skyfire colors.
To say that Henkei Skyfire isn't a Skyfire toy just because it isn't a 100% match for the animation model is narrow-minded and foolish.
That's not Jetfire, that's R-Blade.Nemesis Destron wrote:For anyone that knows, Robot Master Jetfire/Skyfire is a really cool representation even though he is just a repaint of G2 Jetfire/Skyfire Cyberjet.

I've never been a fan of the classics mold but it at least looks cool in alt mode.
This 3rd party offering manages to look worse in both modes and I don't see how any kind of re-molding on the final product can make any improvements.

Technically, Flux is right that Henkei did make a version of Skyfire and is was pretty cool.
But I feel what Mr. Op is saying, for those of us that really liked the Skyfire that was in the cartoon it just was not close enough. I have the toy, like it a lot but feel a better version should be made.
Unfortunately this isn't it. I appreciate the attempt since no one else seems to take this figure seriously but this is just not a good representation.
This figure really needs to be done by Takara in masterpiece form. For me that would fulfill a huge gap in my childhood memories that, as Mr. Op said, no one has really attempted before for some unknown reason.
Completely awesome character that never had a toy release originally, or serious attempt in the 25 years since.

WHY? My main reason is I'm not a fan of mis-portioned body parts & mis-proportione limbs on a Transformers toy. The torso piece is way too over enlarged in relation to the other parts on this toy. the robot head looks like it's a deluxe sized robot head put on a leader sized robot body.
My secondary reason for not liking the toy. is the 3rd party designer did a horrible job of merging the rounded off parts with the squared off boxy parts. the upper rounded off arms don't mix well with the rest of the parts on this toy.
Third reason, the toy is way way way too boxy in both modes for my taste. the alt mode looks like a quart sized milk cardboard container. this boxy 3rd party jetfire toy reminds me of energon supreme sized omega supreme.
Lastly, their appears to be extra molding on the upper thighs nears the waist belt that might cause restricted forward range of motion.
Like some in this thread. I also feel the classics 1.0 Jetfire toy is much better than this 3rd party jetfire toy.
IMHO,Personally I don't need takara to waste time+,money+resources creating a masterpiece jetfire toy. I'm happy, content & satisfied with the various Skull leader toynami robotech masterpiece toys & skull leader macross robotech masterpiece toys.

If you want peoples money for a figure, make sure that it's actually superior to the official version.
I mean the Classics Jetfire mold isn't perfect and there are things I would like changed, but it's still way better than this thing here. So I'll keep him in my collection.
