A pair of news this evening based on our favorite weapon of mass displacement: Broadside.
First up, thanks to TFormers user Deathblade we can now confirm that Broadside has made it to the US! The figure, the only voyager in wave 4, was spotted at a Walmart in San Antonio, and was purchased for a reasonable $24.86. This means that this figure should be hitting shelves en masse soon, so keep your guard up!
Secondly, with Broadside finally seeing wider distribution, we can inform you that sponsors TFsource and Aj's Toy Chest have finally been able to place their Broadside Pre-order. The figure has a pricetag of $27.49 and $26.99, respectively, and is due soon.
With all this Broadside news coming in, it is a good idea to keep your eyes to the shelves and the websites. Broadside is here, and ready for us to start finding him slowly but surely.

Much as I like to rag on Quickswitch, how are the people who have him finding him in a vacuum? Like, ignoring that he doesn't look anything like Quickswitch and ignoring that Quickswitch himself is a beyond-niche character. Do the colours work for the mold and look good on it? How are his joints compared to Sixshot? Does the face look good? Is he better than Sixshot in general, ignoring all character attachment?

I have both and have no attachment to either character or the original G1 toys. I do generally prefer Decepticons, so that's pretty close to a vacuum. The colors really do work and they painted a few areas like one of the cockpits a little different on Greatshot (better) than Sixshot. I do like Sixshot's facesculpt better but Greatshot's colors better. They are pretty much tied in my book.

I don't mind getting Japanese characters as they are 1st a form of G1 homage so it's a way of filling in some gaps for me they function like the commemorative series / G1 reissue newbies like Loudpedal, Crosscut, Deep Cover, Clampdown, Hauler, Sunstorm, Detritus or Road Rage.
It's also the same sort of idea to me as taking Micromasters or Action Masters and giving them updated bodies. like with Big Daddy or Treadshot.
Making a modern version of Greatshot or Six Knight isn't any different to me than it is making Swerve or Tailgate... they also didn't appear in a Western cartoon and only gained significance due to later fictional appearances.
Though I do wish they'd get around to Elita-1's team updates a bit more regularly than has happened so far.

Note: This video is in Japanese only because there's no English version of this fight on YouTube anymore. Otherwise, this episode is definitely from the American G1 cartoon, being the Season 3 ep "Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5".

You know how Armada has just a ton of G1 characters used as background filler, but they're in oddball color schemes and sometimes have weird extra parts or faces? This Quiclswitch is like that. It's like having a toy of a random Armada background character that was based off Six Shot.
I shall name him Six Switch and when in wolf mode he's a good boy.

I do like Quickswitch as a character, but I'll try to be objective. His joints are good (better than my Six Shot, which has a slightly loose shoulder) though his Titan Master fit so well in wolf mode that I had legitimate difficulty removing him (and wound up losing a little paint on his nose). The colours work well in my opinion for 5 of the 6 modes; in truck mode the colours are too scattered. The face sculpt is great, but for me at least the helmet winds up covering the top half of the eyes.
Obviously in terms of mold and size this toy is meant to be Sixshot so I really can't say that this is better in any way, but in the absence of an original sculpt Quickswitch this is pretty much as good as it gets.

I've not been a fan of the use of thick, high gloss enamel on this mold, or MP Grapple/Inferno for that matter. It's super extremely chippy, and already so thick that I'm worried a protective top coat might begin to hinder some functions. Or that might be pointless overall as even another layer would just end up increasing friction at the tension points where chips can happen. :/Diem wrote: His joints are good (better than my Six Shot, which has a slightly loose shoulder) though his Titan Master fit so well in wolf mode that I had legitimate difficulty removing him (and wound up losing a little paint on his nose).

Not that what you're saying doesn't make sense but in this specific case it was definitely down to how firmly his head was stuck in that mode. I had to use some pretty crazy force to extricate it.

to which his reply was...
"Then shouldn't he be called Plastic Hawk?" .... keep in mind he's 11, but this was one of those LOL "out of the mouths of babes" moments that makes being a dad all worth it. I had no comeback for this, so if we eventually do happen to get this set, in our home, he will be officially referred to as Plastic Hawk .

O well, scratched one more Wave 1 figure off my to-get list.
I checked TRU today, but no Velocitron set... yet. They've yet to clear a dedicated space for it, no doubt replacing the now empty Fortress Maximus shelf. In other news: mine apparently has stopped stocking Titan Masters, as they removed that particular price tag.
Also, RiD Skywarp and battlemask Windblade are out int he wild in Texas

Deadput wrote:And Mindwipe still continues to "warm the shelves" I thought he would of been the most popular of the first three headmaster Decepticons.
But I guess not
But I think this proves he is. They shipped solid cases of him, so it not shelf warming, its just them continously getting cases of just mindwipe (and JUST mindwipe) and them putting it on the shelves. That means he's the only toy they had to sell for months... and he sold. Almost all of them are gone. So yeah, I guess he was popular enough that they sold solid cases of em.

Yes they are. Thankfully there arent that many. Theres just the ones on the wings and the decepticon symbols and the later ones are perfecetly fine. This is easily the best leader of Titans return to date.
And I just love how well that tank rolls. Its a very elegant transformation for his bottom half. Top Half is overly simplified though, too bad.

How is it that a single column of a supermarket whose shelves are so bare it wouldn't be out of place in a zombie apocalypse movie is still making me envious compared to what we have in the UK?

Man, that sucks. I'm glad they're not in abundance like Megatron or the new Laser Prime, but it's still a shame. I wonder what prompted them to use such horrible quality stickers? Other than cost-cutting, of course.

I have realizes that shelves being stocked matters much less than what they are stocked with. The TRU next door to this walmart looked like this:
Now I dont know about you, but I think what Walmart had is way better than what TRU had.

I'd say that the G1 stickers have held up better than these new ones have. Several of the wing stickers on my TR Megs have already peeled pretty badly, and I've only transformed him twice or so. And yet my uncle's Pointblank has stickers that have survived some serious playtesting from him, me, my brothers, and my cousins, not to mention attic storage inbetween.
Although, my Sixshot has held up nicely, despite a good amount of fiddling to get all fo his different modes. Perhaps it's just bad luck with Megatron.

I was just being cheeky with mentioning G1. Some of the stickers on my G1 figures are fine but others have peeled off badly. But they are all from different places and aquired in the pat 3 years so I wouldnt know what happened to them.
And yes, Megatron is easily the biggest offender to the sticker issue. I dont mind the rest as much.

Ok I stand corrected - I think I'd never seen that episode - I think I didn't manage to wade through all of season 3 so I likely stopped before I got that far (I think I stopped before the ark got destroyed for example) .
But it's interesting to see Pipes, Outback, Swerve, Tailgate in there as I genuinely didn't know that any of them were ever in the western cartoon. I notice Bumblebee has a roof cannon - I am surprised Takara didn't pick up on that as a bonus MP accessory.
I recall Cosmos, Powerglide, & Seaspray being in there so I obviously got that far. I really must finish watch those DVD's one of these days

But when they don't rub and they have a little cutout to sit into they work perfectly fine.
Oh and as to the durability - I bought a G1 Powerglide at a Carboot sale over the weekend - his stickers are in great condition and I dug him out of biscuit tin full of rusty Hotwheels, Matchbox & Dinky toys.
Oh and I like Soundwave's head on Sky Shadow - that looks nice.
Has anyone found a better fan base mode for Six Shot yet ? something flatter & more ramp friendly perhaps.

There are good stickers and there are bad scrappy stickers. Whether you are G1 or not, we all hate crappy stickers!
And the ones used on 3x Megs suck. Sixshot's? Well the foil type are kind of a pain to mount and crimp easily, heck, I'll live.

Swerve was also briefly seen in one scene of another season 3 episode, "Forever is a Long Time Coming", but sadly there's no clip of that scene available on YouTube that i can find.
Said episode was also Pipes's sole other cartoon appearance. Outback, however, got a few appearances in Part 1 of the aforementioned five-parter, and again in the episode "The Quintesson Journal".

Anyway I'm pleased and surprised to find out (nearly all) the Minibots featured in the show after all.
Did they skip Hubcap ?

I wonder if Hasbro is aware how much we dislike there use of substandard sticker stock ?
Has anyone had a word in their ear about it at events ?
I actually don't mind the bonus sticker sheets - but those seem to be decent quality stickers so they are not an issue.
But Megatron for example really just needed some red paint on his wings - that was all. and a tampographed logo on his chest and on his jet nose.

I do find it odd that the stickers are only on the Titans Return toys, and not the RiD ones no matter the size. Maybe it's their way of saying: you want G1, we'll give you G1, stickers and all!

Really can't see the appeal of those 'base modes' all connected. Most of them still just look like mangled mistransformations. Base mode TFs for the large part just don't work for me at all. Would be nice to have an actual dedicated base with actual features kind of like the G1 Ark dioramas and playsets I seen some people make. Or even the old Micromaster bases which were much tidier and without the need for painful looking posing positioning of actual Transformer characters.

Same reason Topspin and Twintwist were...
Probably just forgotten about and heck two of Hubcap's wave mates Tailgate and Swerve only appeared in one episode without any lines and two others Outback and Pipes only had a couple of episodes in which they were not even major characters.
A similar fate befalls poor Skids.
Googling on the wiki shows me that only Wheelie showed up in the original G1 marvel comics too and it probably has something to do with Wheelie being a movie character the only new Mini-Vehicle with a completely new mold in 1986.
The only Autobots I can think of that never showed up for a good reason were Roadbuster and Whirl due to being toys from a non Takara company also the two probably would of been very toned down in the show anyways since their pretty violent according to their G1 bios.
