...the switchblade comparison is actually pretty spot on. You literally hold the figure by a certain piece in either mode, make a single swift motion with your arm, and the figure auto-converts instantaneously with the motion of your arm just like a switchblade!
Though, Grimlock's one-step transformation, however, is a bit longer as, instead of flailing him with your arm like the others, you hold two of his parts with both of your hand and spin him around on a horizontal axis like a towel or a big piece of cloth. His requires two hands to perform since he's bigger and bulkier (and I'm not talking about the giant Chomp and Stomp figure).
It's honestly kinda cool and clever, and most of all, FUN-looking!
Posted by Ultra Markus on February 16th, 2014 @ 10:55pm CST
that kind of takes the fun out of the puzzle solving part that changing from vehicle to robot
is all about! today's kids will probably like it, as they want everything right now and don't want to work for it, these toys will fit perfectly

How sure are we that the silver and black truck is going to be Galvatron?
I like the Jetfire, just don't like the bot mode's chest canopy being viewable underneath when in jet mode.
Does anyone have any idea how many of these lines (particularly Generations) we'll be seeing in Australia? Because I'd love to get my hands on a number of them deluxes and voyagers...

Well, it's kinda obvious, since this is the only flat-nosed truck that matches that truck.

If Hasbro says it's Galvatron, it's Galvatron.

I'm just disappointed I didn't get one of them for Christmas since I had hinted HEAVILY that Santa should put those under my tree.
The artwork is sweet and they would make great "Book end" pieces on any collectors shelf if you were to get both of them. Being a cynic and overly critical of just about everything it's not often that I would critique and endorse in a positive manner any type of product but I highly recommend these. I'll be picking up both when they come back in stock as I think they will provide excellent storage for the TF cards and other trinkets that will be coming out that I plan on picking up instead of throwing money at the craptacular figures that they are producing this year.

According to Mark Weber, the reason the Age of Extinction pteranodon is Strafe and not Swoop is because the two-headed design was deemed to be too much of a departure from traditional depictions of Swoop.

The "skirt" pieces having movement and folding tighter against the sides instead of being a straight up shellformer is great. I'm still not a fan of the backpack. I think they could've folded it down a bit more at the very least. Like swivel the wheels in and push the gas tanks up a bit. While that won't get rid of the backpack, it would certainly cut down on it a good deal.
Still, I'm impressed. I'll buy it. It's definitely leaps and bounds better than the First Edition crap fest. Good grief.

Read thru this, a few thoughts:
- There's a ridiculous amount of Autobots in the AoE line, and very few Decepticons.
- Kre-O becoming a TRU exclusive makes me sad.
- The number of dinosaur-related product is obscene. Kinda surprised they went with it after all the dragons (which are sort of like dinosaurs) last year... yet we couldn't get all the Constructicons during RotF for whatever reasons.
- Kre-O TRU exclusive in the US, no more Beast Hunters in the US, combined with how other recent lines went (i.e. not in the US, but everywhere else) I think we Americans finally have a counter to "but it's so much more expensive here!"

Whoa, whoa, whoa. This part is not true. Beast Hunters is not canceled and no other lines have been canceled, either. The Generations Legends are still coming and Beast Hunters are still active in Wal*Mart's computer system.
Please read the news headlines for more information.

Oh yeah because "accuracy" is always crap right? Honestly I cant see why people hate the First Edition so much. I bought it and other than the backpack and lack of articulation, the figure is awesome. The detailing of the plastic is much much more better than any Masterpiece I bought(And certainly much better than this Leader class figure), the paint apps look much better than the Leader class and honestly even the robot mode proportions look much better. The chroming looks much better than the plain silver and the head sculpt is just pure awesomeness
And yet here you are claiming that the First Edition figure is "Crap fest" and that the Leader class is "Leaps and bounds better". Please go check your eyesight sir or perhaps it's a brain issue? Just go see a doctor. Honestly speaking.
Fans are just haters I guess. Here Hasbro is trying to make a Movieverse figure look as accurate as possible to the actual on-screen Optimus Prime and of course fans still hate them because of the backpack =_=... I guess they just dont realize how hard it is to make a Movieverse figure look as accurate as possible.

Taking my opinion personally? Alrighty, then. (Not sure why, but... *shrugs*)
I fail to see how the First Edition is so accurate. Neither the main line figure or the First Edition are completely accurate. Both have ridiculous amount of backpack.
CrimsonPrime wrote:And yet here you are claiming that the First Edition figure is "Crap fest" and that the Leader class is "Leaps and bounds better". Please go check your eyesight sir or perhaps it's a brain issue? Just go see a doctor. Honestly speaking.
Getting real personal, now. Again, not sure why. It's certainly not necessary, nor is it welcome here. "How To Win Friends And Influence People" is a real book, find it and read it, learn from it. There's no need to be rude and offensive whilst offering your opinion on a product. Getting personal over an action figure, especially when a post wasn't aimed at you, is for lack of a better word, ridiculous.
As for it being a crap fest, I go by what others have experienced first hand:
- Hollow feeling and very light weight.
- Chrome rubbing off and fading.
- Weapons aren't always painted, and it's pretty much a game of chance to end up with painted ones as many people have come forward to complain about their weapons lacking paint apps. To the point that Amazon has begun reviewing the figure and pulled the regular packaging version from sale as of right now. Only their frustration free packaging version is available. (which makes no sense to me, since it's only the packaging that's changed, not the figure or it's accessories inside.)
I've heard several people, including a respected TF reviewer say it's not worth the money. With complaints that are legit, I've seen a specimen where the chrome rubbed off, and multiple cases of this all happening, why would I find it to be a superior figure? I might as well save $15-20.00 and buy a slightly more intricate version of the character, with less chrome to worry about!

It's unfair to assume that all fans are "haters" blanket assumptions like that are offensive and can lead to problems. Please don't use labels when speaking of others, nor should you speak for them. You wouldn't like it if they did it to you, don't do it to them.

Could be that Optimus got shot right before he could deal the final blow.
Could be a generic that reuses Galvy's foot (a bunch reuse Blackout's head, for example).
Could be a lot of things.
On the other hand, the ads for DotM did blatantly show Starscream and Shockwave's deaths, so I wouldn't be that surprised if they're doing the same with Galvatron.

Me too. There have been waves in the past that weren't officially canceled, but simply never showed up in stores. Especially later waves at the end of lines, which stores never order because they have no room on the shelves that are filled with unsold figures from the early waves. Sometimes they're not "officially" cancelled, but if they only show up in a few stores and most people can't find them, then it's effectively the same as being cancelled.

For all it's worth, Hasbro has said the latest wave of Generations Legends was under-ordered by retailers, and Beast Hunters seems to be biting the dust when it comes to the Deluxes and Cyberverse Classes. Hasbro is looking into a second run of Swerve and Cosmos, while investigating other venues for Beast Hunters.
That would mean they're not canceled, but merely postponed until deals have been finalised.

The numerous Generations Legends warming the pegs at every store in my area seem to suggest otherwise.
If their only concern is that retailers won't order enough, then why not just sell them through HTS.com?

The latest wave meaning Cosmos and Swerve. If the wave before doesn't move, well, no need to order more, right?

Either way, the result is the same. Whether it's because retailers didn't order the early waves (no demand) or because they ordered too much of the early waves (no shelf space), there's often some reason for Hasbro to not release the later waves and for stores not to order them. That's why we shouldn't count on these Gen Legends ever coming out.

I said it once, I'll say it again: transformers are 3 toys in one: an action figure, a vehicle (or object) and a puzzle. the puzzle makes the whole toy entertaining or boring.
Quite frankly, some of the deluxes look good. not excellent, but good.
At least there is a leader grimlock out there that has Some steps to transform him, instead of the one step thingy.
Optimus prime is the biggest lackluster of them all. The truck mode is absolutely gorgeous. the robot mode isn't good. Hell, the G1 themed one looks better than the leader class!
well I'll be very selective with this line... and with all that simplified crap they are pulling on us, goddamn it! we can all kiss the Human Alliance thing goodbye!

Now that's interesting. I saw it on the site's banner and had to check it out. The truck is a classic. This is just a one-off toy though right? Not something that will appear in the new film?
They should have used his iconic alt mode and iconic face in the movies, to go with his iconic voice..
Not familiar with Size Class, how big or small is a "Leader Class" toy next to a Masterpiece?
Posted by Autobot032 on February 21st, 2014 @ 3:03am CST
In the film, Optimus takes on the form of a flatnose semi with flame deco and extensive rust. This toy is Hasbro's way of giving back, I think. G1deco, G1 style alt mode. I'm sold.
Cyberpath wrote:They should have used his iconic alt mode and iconic face in the movies, to go with his iconic voice..
Well, not much we can do now. What's done is done. This is as close as we're going to get.
Cyberpath wrote:Not familiar with Size Class, how big or small is a "Leader Class" toy next to a Masterpiece?
This figure ^ is Voyager Class. The chrome one standing next to Grimlock is the Leader Class figure. Most Leader Class figures stand about as tall as MP-10. Or around Soundwave's height. In that area.
