No die-cast and the toy is much smaller.
Still freaking awesome though.

Wallet & shelf space friendly, just what I can manage right now for one offs (don't have to care about scale).

In that same mentality, the SS86 Commander Optimus is a great alternative to MP-44.

What you say make sense if I don't collect CHUG and MP as separate lines.
I don't see CHUG/SS & MP as interchangeable alternatives. They have their own scales (more or less, with varying degrees of success, mind you) but Missing-Link doesn't (it's going for the OG toy size. So far.) and it's a "one off" collectable line that TT is picking and choosing to release what they consider make sense, like the never released G1 prototype Arcee. This Legacy G1 OP is also a "one off" in the CHUG mainline. It's an OP in a DELUXE price & size, and I don't see Hasbro will release other figures that scale with this OP except tank Megatron, MAYBE. The likely purpose of it being a cheaper alternative and/or a compliment to ML OP, all to celebrate the 40th anniversary.
For me, whether it's ML or Legacy G1 OP, they belong to the crossovers/impulse Buys/oddities shelf or my "misc/outdated" shelf (where my Hybrid Style, Deluxe WFC, T30, MP-01 etc. OPs now sit). I can also see some people might put the ML with the reissues. Now, I really wouldn't bother with Legacy G1 if I already have ML (unless I'm scared of paint chipping on the diecast parts), but since I don't have ML, Legacy G1 scratches enough of the itch for me and I would rather not spend the money on ML (not saying ML is not worth every dollar it's asking for) and save it for something else. That's my "mentality" if you want to put it.

DHL is even less reliable than the USPS. It's insane. Normally if Hasbro ships from their warehouse in Romeoville IL to my place it takes two days via USPS and UPS. DHL takes 7-10 days, if I'm lucky.

What's weird is domestic DHL is slow and unreliable, but international DHL can get a package from Japan to my door in three days. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Since Animated Wildrider was a retool of Lockdown, and we just got Star Raider Lockdown, how's Star Raider Lockdown, and how well do you think the mold can be retooled into Animated Wildrider?

Its kind of crazy that they use Fedex, UPS/USPS and DHL.
I'm lucky with the Romeoville, IL location. I'm in the south Chicago suburbs and usually get mine Fedex next day from there. Also my town is weird for Fedex since the closest distribution center is in Munster, IN meaning everything I get from them croses the state border twice just to go from the a southwest Chicago suburb to a south Chicago suburb.

Well, seeing as how Star Raider Lockdown is just a straight redeco of the Junkion Axlegrease with no new tooling besides a new head based more on ROTF Lockdown than Animated Lockdown, I'd say it'd be like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole and result in a figure that's as visually faithful to the design of Animated Wildrider as all the Legacy figures that were based on TF: Prime characters (as in, not very accurate at all).Ig89ninja wrote:So, with Animated Motormaster all but on shelves, a thought occurred to me when thinking about the rest of the Animated Stunticon Team.

Exactly! Shockwave, Grimlock and Straxus were all sent by regular mail and they were here 3 days after they left Romeoville. My previous experiences with DHL are more negative than positive, so I'm not expecting Xaaron and Flame until next week. fortunately the hurricane was nowhere near as bad as projected.
On an unrelated subject, what are the chances that the new Leader Soundwave will have the same yellowing issues as the Netflix Soundwave? I'm on the fence about getting the new one, and Amazon just sent me the warning that it will ship on Monday or Tuesday. But if the quality isn't fixed...

Are you in the hurricane area, bro?

I was last night. I should rephrase though: the hurricane effects weren't as bad as projected where I live. North Florida and Southeast Georgia got hammered. I live closer to the Alabama line so I just got a lot of rain and some wind.First-Aid wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote: fortunately the hurricane was nowhere near as bad as projected.

I think I heard that the yellowing thing was a one-off that happened due to some manufacturing shenanigans. It is been a while since I heard of any new figure yellowing. This "leader" Soundwave is from a new batch so the kinks must have been fixed.
Also, he's worth owning for Buzzsaw and Blue Rumble alone. For once, we get Buzzsaw and if you only have Siege Lazerbeak, the different eyes between them make them more distinct. As for Blue Rumble, he's in his REAL colors. Not those weird "screen accurate" baby-purples.

Well my Siege Megatron that came in the exclusive pack with the purple bone guy I sold you that was all shiny and chrome also has yellowing on the thighs and arms.-Kanrabat- wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:On an unrelated subject, what are the chances that the new Leader Soundwave will have the same yellowing issues as the Netflix Soundwave?

Yeah I really would like that Rumble and Buzzsaw so I'll pick up the set now for sure. I was mainly worried about the yellowing.

I still think there's a chance we'll get a Lockdown in the future that's a retooled Legacy Chase figure. I've even seen pictures of people showing his legs can be extended like Lockdown.
Just found this photoshop when looking for the picture:
Definitely needs additional tooling, but it's a possibility.

Yeah, that set was from around the same "generation" as Netflix Soundwave and SG Starscream. I didn't heard of any other figures yellowing yet.
Also, I much prefer the "toy" colors on Blue Rumble from the Leader Soundwave set. So I just sold my SS one to my local geek store and I got 15$CAN in store credit, meaning over 75% of what I paid originally. Not too bad!

My guess i is like SS ROTB Airrazor VS Kingdom Airrazor. Different molds, same "soul."

I can totally see the retool potential here.

Ruckus is a big deluxe with RUBBER TIRES! Impressive. Plus there's a decent amount of paint on him. His transformation, however, is annoyingly fiddly. Especially for the arms.
Teen Bludgeon is a bit less scary to transform than his moldmates due to that new chest part that had NO clear plastics at all. He's pretty nice.
Ruckus is one huge improvement over that G1 original.
Teen Bludgy seems a bit naked beside his improved "adult" form. I'm sure there will be some upcoming Reprolabels.
Beside the ROTF deluxe and the Bludgeons that are just some random bot that keep have the name randomly (like the RID minicon or the G2 Hero Megatron repaint) I think I have all the official, normal retail Bludgeons so far.
(Meaning not counting the giant statue or the Botcon/CollectorClub exclusives.). I have no ideaif I have the Kreo deep in storage. Maybe I'll order one.

PVC rubbery-plastic tires, actually, according to the designer. Meant to emulate the feel of actual rubber but without any of the long-term breakage issues.-Kanrabat- wrote:Ruckus is a big deluxe with RUBBER TIRES!

Even if it is not rubber rubber, it's still "rubber." And if this "rubber" is better than actual rubber, that's just perfect.
I do hope that's a feature we will see more of in Transformers. Especially with the prices we now have to pay.

Though TBH I hope a proper SS86 version is coming so that I can have it MIB to go with Blaster!
Oh, and I also saw a listing report for a Commander Silverbolt and it got me to thinking couldn't a Leader Class slot suit the job? Frankly these combiners including Commanders it starting to get a bit on the extremely pricey end of the spectrum.
The other one of note was Seaspray, which appears to be Walmart Exclusive so I'm guessing another Cosmos debacle? Or does "Retro" imply a reissue of the classic toy?

It's wierd, nobody is sure yet. Though it might be that Walmart is getting a new subline where its generations figures in toy decos. Would be weird to be the only release of that mold when it is part of a deco subline
