Isn't that price rather steep? The only one-step changer that doesn't exist in a single pack is Slug..... so essentially we're paying a premium to get him. :-s

Slug will be available separately later. The only exclusive is that Silver Knight Optimus one.

Actually, if you figure that the One-Step changers are around $9-10 each, and you're also getting Slug before his individual release, PLUS an exclusive Silver Knight Optimus figure, it's a deal. Individually, they'd be around $54-60 total, plus there's the exclusive figure.

Fellow fan and collector, Blacklai, has posted a pictorial review of the soon to be released Autobots Unite figure boxset! The set consists of film accurate redecos of Deluxe Class figures Bumblebee, Crosshairs, Drift, plus Voyager Class figures Hound and (Evasion Mode) Optimus Prime. (The latter features a remolded head as well as a new G1-esque deco.)

Price and release date information has not been released as of yet, but as soon as we know, you will. Until then, let these pics whet your whistle.

These look really nice with all the little details painted in (taillights anyone?). But it really gets to me that alot of my main problems with their decos aren't fixed. Drift is still blue, not even dark blue or navy blue, just blue. And John Goodbot still has a black beard which makes him look like a pirate. I think it was silver in the movie. At any rate, considering what these will surely cost, I really wish they would have done some more obvious stuff.

Sorry to be another negative nancy, but...

Hooray, the OP repaint/remold everyone wanted in a likely cost-prohibitive set that no one will buy! :BANG_HEAD:

That said, these decos look really great compared to the originals. If I was collecting AoE and was lucky enough to have NOT already picked these characters up, this would be a must-buy.

Not really my problem because as usual, TrU hate Québec.

As I was seeing these pictures, I was "ooh-ing" and "aah-ing" at the incredible insight they had to bother painting the damn rear-lights! Appart that, not much differences to justify paying a premium.
Well, appart that Hound who is now totally Movie Bulkhead! :x

So I've been a bit remiss in acquiring any AOE toys, partly due to being out of town, partly because the movie aesthetic bugs me more than a little. But semi-completeist that I am, I'm still interested in getting at least one representation of each deluxe/voyager/leader(possibly) mold. The Autobots Unite and Dinobots Unleashed 5-packs seem like a great start, but what else should I wait for before I start hunting individual figures? Are there any planned repaints of Snarl/Slash? Do Lockdown and Galvatron only exist on their own? Are the Leader versions of Optimus/Grimlock worth the price/space?

It seems the Autobots are getting preferential treatment with all the releases. The Breakout Battle is another to look out for, as it has the "rusty" Prime as seen in the movie. So far, Lockdown and Galvatron are on their own without any repaints, and with none announced that'll remain the case. The Leader versions are worth looking into at the very least, but avoid the First Edition! Keep in mind that Optimus Prime will get show-accurate retooling done by TakaraTomy, and that both are available in a 2-pack, with Grimlock in black.

Platinum Editions are premium decos.

As for TRU, we do know that TRU Canada is getting it, but no one word yet on TRU USA.

Thanks for the tips. I do like that black Grimlock and rusty Prime looks like a nice change from his normal -- and over-represented -- color scheme. It's unfortunate that Snarl/Slash didn't make the Platinum cut.

Why haven't we seen any images of Legends Hound and Lockdown? The guy in the video made it sound like they were supposed to be out in stores now, but we haven't even had any official confirmation beyond that video.

Nice. Painted rims and tail lights, extra details on the robot modes, a few extra decals...many improvements. They even got the blue rims on Drift (LOL that the original had painted rims, but the wrong color  ).

Only things that kinda bugged me are how much lighter Hound is (which I can live with, since they gave him actual camo paint this time) and Optimus's black gun (I preferred it gray so it could double as DOTM Megatron's shotgun), but other than that pretty much upgrades all around. Will definitely pick this up.

Do we still not know a price for the US?

People make errors, you know? Even those working for Hasbro. Besides, don't count on them making new molds as all Legends are repaints of previous lines.

Definitely picking this set up. I have all these guys individually already, but that box set is prime for display. (I just couldn't resist.)

Anyone know why Drift has different colored forearms? Is that a movie accurate thing, or a mistake?

Hi, I'm new and I joined this website to stay updated on the new Age of Extinction toys as they seem to be selling out unbelievably fast... and most of the new ones I want are like some limited special edition... I just have a few questions...

Why is the Autobots United and Dinobots Unleased packs so expensive? If you buy them seperately it would cost about 87$. But robotkingdom is asking for 150$. And the shipping costs are probably going to be 30$ or more. It's a lot of money to cough up...

Is there going to be a US release with a more realistic price?

If not is there a store that will get these in stock in the USA so I don't have to pay a high price for shipping?

I really wanted the Rusty Evasion mode Optimus Prime, Nemesis Prime and Nemesis Grimlock... oh and also that blue repaint of Crankcase. But these are only available in Japan and are all sold out now... will they release a version in the USA?

Allow me:

The super special editions you are talking about are just that: Super Special Editions. They are limited release repaints with more paint aps and once again, limited release. That's why they are so expensive. If you are new to Transformers, you better get used to this TF trope. A 10$ toy can go BOOM 100$ just because it have a new paint job and is a collector/botcon/platinum/promo/ect.

So, the only reasons to buy such repaints are these:
- You have money to spare.
- You love that mold (meaning the base toy).
- You love the character.
- You like the idea of having something a bit more special and rarer than the usual and normal store release.

If all 4 are a YES! then go for it. Buy your collector item. You wont regret it.

One "no", and you risk having buyer remorse.

2 "no" and above, avoid that toy. That is a purchase you are sure to regret. Wait for something else that you will love for real.

I hope this helped and welcome to the wonderful (and expensive) world of Transformers Toys Collecting! :APPLAUSE:

Thanks the welcome and reply.

Limited release you say? Bummer, and here I thought we were getting those premium repaints we did from the first movie. Those didn't cost that much extra and it wasn't hard to get one. Already shelled out the cash for the Platinum leader Optimus and Grimlock based on your reply. Debating on the 5 packs still... I think at the most I may get the Dinobots one. The packaging artwork looks awesome and I dig the paint jobs. The autobots united looks amazing as well but I love the dinobots more so it's a tough decision. :HEADHURTS:

They'll be limited, but only insofar as being a store exclusive - perhaps Toys R Us or Target.

Also, because these are meant for the US market (I think) they're going to be more expensive on Robot Kingdom. If you hold out for a retail sighting, you will probably get it for slightly cheaper. Those sets are going to drop in November, and by then we should know a bit more. Save your coupons!

I just picked up this at my local ToysRus. PN: 7445140000

To address the questions about the looseness questions.
The part the airfoil attaches to has super loose hinges.
The shoulder swivels are a little loose but tolerable.
Rear tire pins are not sunk in all the way on the one leg making them seem loose.

This is no where near as loose as a KO.

Other comments:
Paint in person is awesome. Chrome apps are great.
I think the gun/smokestacks are black because of the gun mode.
Why the fists are black I don't know.
Although not cartoon accurate the yellow eyes (like the classic toy) stand out better than the first classic primes blue eyes.
The airfoil doesn't look good as a weapon due to its solid red coloring.

p.s. AOE prime doesn't have a faceplate.

About finding them at Walmart... There have been reports of Stinger being found in Target in all places, with the "Walmart Exclusive" sticker!

One theory is that Stinger was supposed to be general retail, but was pulled at the 11th hour for Walmart only. Them landing in other stores can be attributed to miss- or lack of communication. >:oP

Selling out? My local big boxes TF sections would be mistaken for tanning salons due to all the warming they are doing here. Target is running a promotion this week that if you spend $20 on a TF purchase you get one of these one steps for free. Yesterday I saw the same figures I saw last week. No parent is spending $15+ on a TF. Meanwhile, they cannot keep TMNT toys on the shelf. Considering the $9 per figure price point, I can see why.

That is generally the way it goes in this hobby. Either you have a bunch of peg warmers that no one wants or the scalpers buy up the limited stuff and sell it on ebay. That is why I do not like limited figures. Not too many other toy lines do what Hasbro does with this line. It is remarkable how you can have a mold like Bumblebee's and it will shelf warm. But if Hasbro took the same mold, colored it any other color, gave it an name from some obscure G1 character, and put it out in the collectors club or retail with a jacked up price the fan boys will buy it up. It could be a $100 figure that has a counterpart that retails at $15 and it will sell out.

I keep my collection VERY modest. I used to have thousands of dollars worth of figures. I unloaded them at a profit and I now only collect the legends line.

That seems to be the collecting game for people on a tighter budget :-( Sometimes stuff has to be dropped due to the way retail works.
Not sure if this is a rumor, but these sets might show up in Canadian ToysRus. Seems plausible that at least the smaller ones will, most of them show up here at some point. They're still ungodly expensive, but at least you can get them.
Good luck though, I know how it can be tough finding stuff on a tight budget.

Also, seems like Stinger is an exclusive character to Walmart  They really seem to like him

or until the 5th movie is out and we get a "movie advanced 2" line.

I agree! Look at the Dinobots, they probably have horrible paint jobs for probably this reason. "Let's give these all odd paint jobs that only kids will appreciate! The older fans who want a more movie accurate paint job will probably pay top dollar for this!"

The top link is 129$... which would cost about 99-109$ (24.99 Grimlock, 12.99 for the 3 deluxes and 34.99-50$ for Slog whose price is all over the place) ...which actually isn't too far-fetched... but it's in Hong Kong so shipping will cost like 30-50$.

I'm waiting for the 2nd link, that looks really good but I hope it won't be TOO hard to get like Nemesis Prime or Nemesis Grimlock which go for about 200$... 10x the price of the normal retail shelf warmer.

I'd rather pay for a figure in Canada than in HK, at least that won't cost me 40$ to ship to the US! If only I had a higher paying job...
