The Official Transformers Facebook page has revealed Target's exclusives for the upcoming Transformers: Age of Extinction line, all of which seem to tie into Optimus Prime's "Silver Knight" theme.
First we have a silver redeco of the Optimus Prime Smash and Change figure. Second, and probably the most interesting of the lot, is a two-pack featuring chromed out version of Voyager Fall of Cybertron Grimlock and Deluxe Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime with G1 Predacon Rampage's sword in silver. Next is an all silver version of Titan Optimus Prime. Finally a Construct-Bots set with Grimlock and silver Optimus Prime.

Well balls. I already went and bought FoC Grimlock, NOW there's a G1 coloured version? Guess I have no choice but to get that too!

FoC Grimlock: No fists in bot mode, fists in dino mode. How did Hasbro's inept photographer get such good job security after all these years?
Do like the looks of that Grimlock, I'm surprise they went with G1 colors and not try to paint him like AoE Grimlock. I'm sure they'll get to that eventually, though. Also surprised we still haven't seen Energon Swoop repainted yet.
The rest is garbage, Walmart got the better exclusives this time around over Target and TRU.

The deluxe class Prime is nice, but that's a somewhat pathetic attempt at giving us a G1 accurate Grimlock. There's still gold on the lower torso and the top half of his thighs are red.
That smash and change Prime is more appealing than the regular release though.
Between this and Wal-Mart, Wal-Mart wins.

These exclusives are like an episode of Pimp my Ride. None of these are must haves for me, but I might pick up the Op and G1 Grimlock set for scrap chromium value, and the Construct-bots because I like those guys.

Oooooh, that Generation One-ified Fall of Cybertron Grimlock! Now I don't feel so bad about not repurposing Fall of Cybertron Grimlock. The Optimis that comes with him is okay, I guess. Good thinking, using Grimlock's shield, despite its unpaintedness.
Could care less about the other stuff, though the seemingly canceled Generation 2-themed deco on Construct-Bots Grimlock is neat.

Even though I have FOC Grimlock (and it's "meh") and the DOTM Deluxe Optimus TWICE, I really LOVE this set. Grimlock in G1 colors look awesome and Optimus look amazing in this deco.
Being TARGET exclusive is great news because, unlike TrU, Target bother to put French on their fawking packagings so their exclusives DO come out in Quebec. Of course, TrU refuse to take note.

While I like that Grimlock, I already have the FoC one and don't need it. I never bought that Deluxe Prime mold though, so if I happen to see this set on sale? I'll probably snag it. I really like the looks of Prime there, all coated in chrome.

The deluxe DOTM OPtimus mold is really gread! Yes, it does have a backpack, but it's nothing compared to the aweful AoE 1st edition.

It's not the best thing ever, but it's hardly terrible. The altmode leaves something to be desired, and there's a hinge that's a bit loose (but it also doesn't move much) in the shoulders of the robot mode, but he holds a pose just fine.

Why do they keep announcing these movie toy monstrosities as if they were PROUD of being responsible for their engineering? This is just SAD. It was very aptly pointed out that these 'titan' figures look like glorified shampoo bottles - the kind of garbage you'd see on shelves in a third-world knock off shop - and not official movie merchandise.
And now they're just repainting figures from 2, 3 years ago - with a little chrome thrown in for good measure?
It's more than just sad, it's an insult to fans and collectors alike. Will this fool people into buying these figures - again? I guess we'll find out.
But I predict that these figures will mostly flop, so that Hasbro will once again report 'poor sales', and use that as an excuse to make future figures even cheaper and crappier.
Hasbro, in my book we call that a 'self-fulfilling prophecy'. Major pass on all of these. If I wind up getting any of them (which I doubt) it will be on clearance about a year later in Ross or TJ Maxx.

From Baltmatrix. Taking a look at the new AoE Optimus. I'd probably just stick with the evasion mode myself, since the ROTF Optimus is perfect for me, but this thing is pretty sweet with the shield and sword, and it's got a nice vehicle mode. Maybe I'll wait for a sale before I consider picking it up.

Only on sale, however. It suffer from the "thin plastic syndrome2 of early FOC figures. It feel light and cheap. It have a giant hole in the dino chest. Tail is fat. It's not that fun to transform. It's "meh" looking in dino mode. However, it'a glorious in robot mode. Purists will hate me for this, but I find the AoE voyager Grimlock to be a WAYYYYYYY superior toy.

Figures the one store of the "big 3" I can get to has the least interesting exclusives... Seriously, even more chrome and a Grimlock not all that different from all the other uses of the mold. Boooooring.
"Unused G2" ConstructBot Grimlock is kinda amusing, but I don't collect those and don't intend to start doing so.

That. G1 Grimlock.
The first Prime, though, I'm not too in love with his design; never was. I feel as though it's too much gray, not enough color. The chromed version with Grim, however, is absolutely gorgeous. If it stays that shiny, Takara can take a back seat on this one.

Bases are loaded, Hasbro steps up to the plate and.... Swing and a clear miss!! OH Hasbro just fell flat on its ass and tried to take Target with it!
Last one out of the stadium, please turn off the lights. This game is clearly over!
Again, they almost had me with the two pack of the FoC Grim and the DotM Prime but they just couldn't quite pull it off. Screwed up both of 'em just enough to make them not appealing.

This Target-Exclusive G1-deco FoC Grimlock has come around at just the right time for me! I was getting ready to buy the Takara-Tomy version of the mold for better G1 accuracy on my Classics shelf, but this one takes the cake. Plus, is that a proper Autobot logo on his robot mode chest instead of the "Lightning Strike Coalition" logo? Sold!

that chromed G1 grimlock looks nice but i really hate that mold, to hollow & can only be viewed from one angle in each mode. If it shows up on clearance for a good price i might get one to keep in the box but thats about it. Would rather have seen the deluxe classics grimlock get the gold treatment instead of FoC grim. Random thought, would be cool to see classics dinobot repainted/remolded into beast wars grimlock.

Now there's an homage I'd love, since BW Grimlock was one of my first transformers, and the only version of the Dinobot mold I had. I don't remember what happened to him, whether I just lost him or traded him away or tried to take him apart and couldn't put him back together (it was a weird phase I went through)...... but yeah, someone make a Grimlock out of that mold. For science.

I never had BW Grimlock, but since it's a Gold Plastic Syndrome figure, I can imagine one horrible outcome if you did disassemble him.
That's also why I'll third a Universe 2.0 Dinobot Grimlock repaint: Don't want to handle the originals more than necessary. And they could package him with the comic where he fights Magmatron.

WooHoo...Sooo glad I put the kabash on my Amazon preorder! This is a complete piece of crap...actually liked the first edition AOE Prime better and I returned that one to Hasbro because of chrome issues for refund. I know I won't have any trouble scoring an Evasion Mode Optimus on launch day, but have to wonder how everyone else will make out when it is the ONLY worthy Prime in the line thus far. Just my humble opinion of course...thanks for another great review.

I spotted Voyagers Optimus and Grimlock at WalMart today. I picked up Optimus only, (because I think Grimlock is hideous) and I wasn't disappointed. It's a very good figure. Dare I say better than the Leader. From previous photos and reviews I didn't think I would, but once I had it in hand at the store, it was a must-get.
I went to give his shotgun to DoTM Voyager Megatron, just to see if it would fit, and it does. Also, I noticed that Evasion Optimus scales very well with DoTM Megatron in both modes. In both modes he's juuuuust a bit bigger, but it's much closer than DoTM Voyager Optimus was.

Though I will say that Optimus on a robot Dinosaur is pretty cool.
